"Roar!!!" Countless demon beasts surged toward them like a raging tide, howling and bellowing. But with Li Xiaoya standing guard like a door god, no matter how many came, none could break through. A massive, ten-foot bronze hammer blazing with golden light materialized in his hands, and he swept it relentlessly to either side, sending one enormous demon beast after another flying.
"Ya Ya! Get inside!" Once Zhang Hong, the last to enter, was safely inside, Mother Li called to Li Xiaoya.
"All right!" Li Xiaoya hurled the massive bronze hammer forward, then turned into a streak of golden light. After a few flashes, he flew into the formation and reached the others.
"Whoosh!!!" Mother Li swiftly formed several hand seals and pointed forward. With a succession of swishing flashes, walls of light sealed off the passage.
"Ah! Fellow Daoist Li, your abilities as a Body Refiner are truly remarkable! May I ask what Body Tempering Technique you practice?" Qu Long Scholar looked at Li Xiaoya and finally asked the question that had been on his mind all along.
"You flatter me, Fellow Daoist Qu Long!" Li Xiaoya replied modestly. After a pause, he casually invented a lie. "Actually, I don't know what Body Tempering Technique I practice. I found this cultivation method in an ancient ruin, and I'm not quite sure what it is!" Inwardly, however, he cursed the fellow for his ill intentions.
"Oh!" Disappointment crossed Qu Long Scholar's face. Knowing he would get nothing out of him, he was about to say something else.
