Heavenly Venerable Daoling assigned him life-and-death combat training with Zhang Facai, whose mistake in the formation reduced Li Xiaoya’s cultivation before Zhang began teaching him formations.

• Li Xiaoya visited Liu Hang’s cave abode, then learned from Heavenly Venerable Daoling that Liu Hang had left to seek a breakthrough and that Li Xiaoya could decide whether to enter the Spiritlight Lake selection.

• Zhang Facai trained Li Xiaoya in formations and combat, then sent him through the Heavenly Gang Illusory Demon Formation until he defeated a third-tier demon beast.
• Heavenly Venerable Daoling praised Li Xiaoya’s progress and prepared him for Spiritlight Lake, where Li Xiaoya reunited with Wang Feiyu and Wang Ling and learned about the selection tournament.

There, his White Necklace repelled a Devil Lord, and Li Xiaoya found a sealed black crystal whose voice seemed to come from within him.

• Li Xiaoya defeated Zhang Zhi, then explored the gathering grounds as the sect guests arrived and slipped into the forbidden woods with Zhou Xiaoya.
