Background / History

Origin and Early Awakening

After splitting from the Dragon God, Gu Yuena forced her way into the Douluo Continent and remained asleep until the events surrounding Chen Ci’s arrival. Despite her immense age and god-level strength, she had little experience of the human world 8.

Chen Ci’s acquisition of Golden Dragon Body coincided with her awakening at the Lake of Life. Di Tian reported a human carrying power from the same source as hers. Believing this human could help heal her injuries, Gu Yuena forbade Di Tian from harming him and departed through an avatar, leaving her true body under his protection 6 7.

Becoming Chen Ci’s “Little Sister”

Gu Yuena found Chen Ci testing his new soul skill and touched his illusory golden scales. She introduced herself as an orphan with the Silver Dragon Spear martial soul and claimed to have lost her memory. Privately, she intended to protect him until his thin Golden Dragon King bloodline grew strong enough to make devouring him worthwhile. She accepted his offer to become his younger sister 7.

That intention disappeared when Chen Ci showed her his Silver-Patterned Blue Silver Emperor. Its connection to her was so strong that she felt as though it were something she had given birth to. His matching Silver Dragon King origin continued to draw her toward him as he developed Water Element Control 8 13.

Traveling with Spirit Hall

Chen Ci made Gu Yuena’s continued presence beside him a condition of joining Spirit Hall, and Bibi Dong accepted. Gu Yuena then displayed a thousand-year first soul ring, further challenging Bibi Dong and Hu Liena’s assumptions about safe soul-ring ages. She guarded Hu Liena during her second-ring absorption and traveled with the group toward Nuoding City 10 11 14.

During the journey, Gu Yuena and Hu Liena questioned why Bibi Dong loved Yu Xiaogang when, by her own descriptions, he compared poorly with Chen Ci. Their questions helped expose the inconsistency in Bibi Dong’s feelings before Chen Ci guided her toward discovering Qian Xunji’s manipulation 12.

At Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, Gu Yuena refused Yu Xiaogang’s offer to become his disciple. During Chen Ci’s duel with Tang San, she reassured Hu Liena that his Blue Silver Emperor outranked Tang San’s Blue Silver King. She prepared to intervene when Tang Hao appeared, but stood down after sensing Bibi Dong approaching 14 16 20.

Preserving Xiao Wu’s Life

Gu Yuena secretly concealed Xiao Wu’s soul-beast aura from Bibi Dong. Later, when Xiao Wu sought a private meeting with Chen Ci, Gu Yuena revealed a silver dragon image, removing Xiao Wu’s doubts about his connection to the Lord of Soul Beasts 21.

When Xiao Wu considered sacrificing herself, Gu Yuena offered an alternative: surrender her soul-beast essence while remaining alive as a human. Although presented as a secret method Xiao Wu could perform, the transformation actually depended on Gu Yuena’s authority as the Silver Dragon King. Xiao Wu’s essence strengthened Chen Ci’s dragon bloodlines and enabled him to begin self-condensing thousand-year soul rings 22.

Gu Yuena’s human avatar is described as a breathtakingly beautiful girl 7.

Personality

Gu Yuena’s unfamiliarity with human life contrasts with her power and age. She struggles with Chen Ci’s metaphors, does not initially understand what romantic “liking” means, and needs instruction in using human bathing supplies. Her claimed amnesia is a cover story, not the cause of this inexperience 7 8 12 13.

She grows attached to Chen Ci before fully understanding her feelings. She becomes uncomfortable when Hu Liena takes his hand, enjoys holding his hand herself, and competes with Hu Liena for proximity to him. She also develops a mischievous streak, deliberately pretending not to find a towel because she finds Chen Ci’s reactions amusing 8 10 11 14.

As sovereign, Gu Yuena distinguishes intelligent soul beasts from ordinary wild beasts. She does not object to Chen Ci hunting creatures without developed intelligence, but refuses to let Xiao Wu die unnecessarily. To her, losing a soul-beast body does not erase someone’s identity or place in the clan’s history 22.
