The Crimson Tide had settled on its attack route. Facing the Aeldari, Evan decided to awaken an old friend.
Doverlit the Dreadnought woke from his slumber. Faced with this "good-tempered" Eighth Company Commander of the Emperor's Spears, Enke felt an indescribable sense of relief.
"I'm sorry, honored Doverlit. We may never encounter the Drukhari again, now or even in the future, but this time we're fighting the Aeldari."
"I am the Emperor's scythe, reaping the lives of xenos." Doverlit ignored the Techmarine and strode on, searching for his prey.
He had eyes only for his prey, which undoubtedly made him the least troublesome charge a Techmarine could ask for.
And before fighting xenos, whether aboard a transport or waiting for the enemy to arrive, he displayed extraordinary patience.
He's practically our dream lov- We don't dream.
Enke felt something was wrong. It was only intuition, but he kept feeling that something would happen to Doverlit if this continued.
"Situval, respond if you can hear me."
"I'm here. Go ahead."
"Can the warrior inside a Dreadnought be transferred to another one? Is surgery to transfer Doverlit into a Contemptor Dreadnought possible?"
"Not at present. Once interred in the sarcophagus, they fight until death. You should know that better than I do."
"The Emperor protects."
By the time Doverlit reached the battlefield, the Aeldari offensive had already receded. After such a long war, they had finally achieved a tremendous victory: an Aeldari Titan lay fallen on their positions.
The Knight Houses were both thrilled and deeply uncomfortable. When Doverlit appeared, all their members slowly gathered around him.
Only he qualified as "original Imperial technology." Everything else was heretical!
Unexpectedly, Doverlit became the figure who held the Knight army's morale together.
"I will lead the main attack," the Chief Librarian declared, his
