After nearly a week of arguments, the two sides reluctantly reached a measure of consensus.

They would launch a joint attack on the Eye of Terror.

Before launching this immense offensive, however, both sides had their own affairs to deal with.

During the Tyranid invasion, the Xenos Inquisitor Kryptmann had ordered Exterminatus on large numbers of otherwise untouched worlds, creating a horrific "biomass vacuum" that drove vast hordes of Tyranids toward Octarius, where enormous numbers of Orks lived.

After the Great Devourer lost its forward foothold, the Tyranids within the Milky Way instantly fell into disarray, each fighting on its own, and the balance on Octarius collapsed.

The Orks on Octarius swiftly defeated the Tyranid swarms there, and years upon years of war had made the Orks grow ever stronger.

The state of the Ork infestation within the Imperium

Meanwhile, Bonebreaka, who had previously fled into hiding, reappeared. Surrounded by throngs of Ork Boyz, he was showing signs of becoming a second Ork Emperor.

An Ork Emperor was a terrifying existence, one that came infinitely close to their ancestors from the War in Heaven, the Krork.

During the Great Crusade, Warmaster Horus had led the Luna Wolves into a horrific war on Ullanor, now known as Armageddon. At one point, the fighting had even reached a stalemate.

Only when the Emperor intervened personally was that Ork Emperor slain.

The Imperium would not allow a second Ork Emperor to emerge. Only after Bonebreaka was dead could it launch the Great Crusade without worry.

The trouble facing Thunderhawk was no less serious than Bonebreaka.

Three Terran weeks earlier, Storm King Imotekh had declared that Silent King Szarekh had betrayed the Necrontyr race and was no longer worthy of the title "Silent King." He proclaimed himself the new Silent King.
