M43.999-
Several flashes of lightning suddenly streaked through the dark void. A moment later, an entire expeditionary battle fleet appeared.
Admiral Spire studied the scan data on the Auspex with a grave expression. It was empty, without a single return.
The advance fleet had fallen silent after entering the Eye of Terror. Even now, neither the Necrons' probes nor the humans' Auspex had detected any signals.
Although Warp activity in the Eidolon Sector scrambled signals, this was far too abnormal.
"Admiral, where are we now?" Bona asked as he approached.
"I'm not certain. If the map the Aeldari provided is correct, we should be nearing Kadeshi," Admiral Spire said with a frown.
Bona recalled the star chart the Aeldari had provided. Drakasi was very close to the Eidolon Sector; even a journey through the Warp would take no more than three days.
"It seems we're in luck."
"Hmph. I don't trust anything those pointy ears say," Perturabo said, disgust written across his face.
"Their empire collapsed over ten thousand years ago. I don't believe their star charts could still be that accurate."
"Enough, Perturabo."
Horus walked over and looked at the asteroid field drawing closer in the distance.
"However bad it is, it's better than blundering around with our eyes closed."
Perturabo said nothing. He merely lowered his head to examine the feedback from the ship's Auspex systems.
Compared with that so-called "intelligence," Perturabo still trusted cold machinery more.
After entering the Eye of Terror, almost all the ships' psychic Navigators and Astropaths had gone mad. The stationed Commissars had executed them before they could become Chaos Spawn, leaving the fleet all but blind.
As the fleet began passing through the asteroid field, countless asteroids struck the ships' hulls with ringing clangs.
The accompanying Necron warships relied on their immensely
