Though Calgar had accepted the reinforcements, his vigilance instantly peaked when he saw that their ranks included Aeldari, a bizarre Tech-Priest, and an Inquisitor carrying a rune sword of the Ordo Hereticus.
"Who is that?" Calgar smashed a plague walker's head apart with his Power Fist as he charged to the front of the group and barred the gate into the inner fortress. "Xenos are forbidden inside the Fortress of Hera! Even if you just helped us!"
"Stand aside, Marius Calgar!"
The speaker was none other than Saint Celestine. She swooped down from the sky and landed before Calgar.
"Saint?" Calgar froze for a moment, then gave an Aquila Salute, though he still blocked the gate. "It is a pleasure to see you, Saint Celestine. But that does not explain why you are with... these things."
He pointed at Yvraine and Liu Zhipeng, who was still locked in a ferocious battle.
"Because this is the Emperor's will!" Celestine's voice brooked no argument. "We have brought a way to save the Primarch! That Tech-Sage, Belisarius Cawl, has brought an artifact that can heal the Primarch's wounds! And that Aeldari..."
Celestine gritted her teeth. "She is the necessary conduit."
"Heal... Father?" Utter shock crossed Calgar's weathered face, followed by doubt. "How is that possible? It has been ten thousand years... even the finest Apothecaries have been helpless..."
"There's no time to explain!"
A tremendous crash rang out in the distance. Liu Zhipeng dodged attacks from Ku'gath and Scabeiathrax, only for Mortarion to send him flying with a sweep of his scythe, smashing him through a tower. Though he immediately sprang up and resumed trading blows as if nothing had happened, he clearly could not hold out against all three for much longer.
"Fuck! I can't hold them much longer!" Liu Zhipeng's roar
