Background / History

Ye Shisan comes from the secluded Ye Family Stockade, where most residents practice martial arts. His father, Ye Mingtian, states that he and Shisan are the settlement’s only cultivators. Shisan has possessed an unusual constitution since birth and trains under his father’s guidance 43 46 47.

Ye Mingtian’s improvised method combines mortal internal cultivation with the absorption of spiritual energy. Rather than accumulating magic power in the dantian, it continually strengthens the flesh. This training alters Shisan’s muscles and meridians enough that ordinary cultivation methods and divine abilities become unsuitable for him 48.

Shisan hopes to join the Firecloud Sect and leaves the stockade without permission to buy pills that might improve his cultivation. He eagerly suggests joining the sect together with Wang Yan, treating Wang Yan’s noncommittal answer as an agreement 44 45.

Shi Nu’s betrayal and the subsequent destruction of the stockade end Shisan’s sheltered upbringing. Blacksmith Ye identifies him as the settlement’s remaining “seed,” making his survival important to its future. After learning that his father and the other residents have died, Shisan develops a lasting desire to avenge them 55 61 62 64.

Shisan eventually joins the Firecloud Sect with Wang Yan and enters Earth Cloud Peak. When five veteran disciples try to extort him, he resists rather than submit. Although he cannot defeat all five, his defensive equipment allows him to endure their combined attacks. The incident attracts High Person Golden Cloud, who examines his dual immortal roots and body-refining aptitude and accepts him as a disciple after learning that he is only sixteen 77 86 146.

His progress under Golden Cloud is reinforced by relentless training, sect missions, and his unresolved blood feud. Shisan explains that memories of the stockade prevent him from sleeping, so he instead meditates and cultivates to prepare for revenge. Wang Yan recognizes that this persistent effort, rather than talent alone, underlies his rapid advancement 147 164.

After Red Second Madam and the Wicked Poison Sect’s Third Young Master are defeated, Shisan wishes to reclaim the stockade. The presence of a Golden Core pursuer forces him and Wang Yan to postpone that goal. He subsequently continues cultivation, completes sect missions, and gains further experience through travel and war 182 235 236 285.

Appearance

Ye Shisan’s adult-like build initially leads Wang Yan to assume he is in his twenties, despite his actual age of thirteen 43.

  • Dark skin and dense musculature: Described as being built like a block of iron 43 44.
  • Thick eyebrows and large eyes: His earnest, awkward expressions contrast with his imposing physique 43.
  • Rough, booming voice: His calls outside Wang Yan’s cave are loud enough to make Wang Yan complain 49.
  • Rapid adolescent growth: At fourteen, he grows nearly a foot during four or five months of sect training and no longer resembles a squat iron block 86.
  • Persistently older-looking face: High Person Golden Cloud initially assumes he is too old to be a promising recruit before Shisan states that he is sixteen 146.
  • Cultivation manifestations: Orange light, runes, and a metal-like appearance accompany his body-refining training. During intensive exercise, his bulging muscles are covered with orange markings 54 150 184.

Personality

Shisan is brave and principled, intervening when Lü Household cultivators extort a vulnerable stallholder despite their superior cultivation. Although he needs money himself, he pays her three-Spirit-Stone tax and later accepts only repayment of that amount, refusing additional compensation 35 36.

He is trusting, persistent, and deeply grateful. After Wang Yan saves him, Shisan immediately calls him “big brother” and is willing to surrender his beloved rod as repayment. His sincerity also makes him easy for Wang Yan to persuade into revealing the rod’s source and bringing him home 43 44.

His confidence gives way to timidity around his father and Shi Nu. Nevertheless, he tries to defend Wang Yan against the stockade’s hostility and pleads for Shi Nu’s life when their confrontation escalates 45 46.

Shisan underestimates his own aptitude, attributing his slow progress to being less talented and clever than Wang Yan. Card Fairy instead judges his comprehension to be good and identifies his unsuitable training as the underlying problem 48 50.

The stockade’s destruction exposes a volatile side of his character. Grief repeatedly drives him into reckless attacks, even against opponents far above his realm. Wang Yan must restrain him physically, knock him unconscious, or insist on reconnaissance before allowing him to act. Over time, Shisan becomes more willing to follow these warnings, particularly when Golden Core cultivators are involved 62 64 65 169 172 182 183.

Despite acquiring considerable combat experience, Shisan is not naturally bloodthirsty. His first deliberate killing leaves him shaken, and later he struggles to sleep because he sees the cultivators he has killed whenever he closes his eyes. He remains interested in warning others about the Wicked Poison Sect’s plans, even when Wang Yan dismisses those outsiders’ welfare 72 113.

Betrayal remains a particular moral boundary for him. Although he learns not to intervene impulsively in every robbery or killing, he attacks a White Spirit Sect cultivator who murders his own fellow disciple. His anger reflects both his principles and the trauma of Shi Nu’s treachery 60 61 115.

His loyalty becomes increasingly reciprocal. When Wang Yan attempts to draw Lingyunzi away so his companions can escape, Shisan refuses to abandon him and pursues the Golden Core cultivator despite the danger. He also proves dependable in less dramatic circumstances, completing every sect mission the pair had accepted during their separation 235 249.

Shisan retains a playful, straightforward manner alongside his dedication to training. He enjoys fishing, eagerly shares food with Wang Yan, jokes about the Zhang sisters, and sometimes creates comic mishaps through carelessness. His loose tongue remains a concern for Wang Yan, who withholds sensitive information without doubting Shisan’s personal loyalty 164 183 184 224 235 241.

Abilities & Skills

Body-Refining Technique

Shisan’s principal combat strength comes from a method that directs cultivation toward reinforcing his body rather than storing magic power in his dantian 48.

  • Wields his exceptionally heavy rod with ease; Wang Yan initially drops it and requires spiritual power just to lift it 43.
  • Deflects numerous flying-sword attacks while fighting three Lü Household cultivators 41.
  • Throws his rod hard enough to knock aside an opponent’s weapon and send the cultivator flying 41.
  • Remains vulnerable to cutting attacks and is gradually wounded and weakened during the three-on-one battle 41 43.

With suitable training and equipment, his body refinement develops into a formidable close-combat style. Card Fairy considers his aptitude, defense, and loyalty valuable enough that Wang Yan should treat him as a strong companion rather than merely a liability 77 80 88.

  • Shatters the Hengshan Four Fiends’ coordinated flying-hook attack and craters the ground with a blow 89.
  • Holds off all four fiends with powerful punches while the Zhang sisters support him with ribbon artifacts 90.
  • Uses Wang Yan’s shield as a foothold during a fall, then drives his staff into a cliff to create a refuge in the rock 100.
  • Endures combined attacks from five veteran Earth Cloud Peak disciples through his body refinement and three protective Spirit Artifacts, though he does not defeat them 146.
  • Overwhelms successive Core Condensation opponents with sustained staff attacks and powerful defenses during the Four Peaks Competition 150 161.
  • Survives the Third Young Master’s prolonged poisonous assaults despite weaker cultivation, although the poison damages both his body and equipment 174 183.
  • Trains by balancing enormous metal balls on his body, including standing on one foot atop one ball while supporting another on his head 184.

His toughness does not eliminate cultivation disparities. Red Second Madam’s flying knives severely injure him while he is still in the Cultivation Realm, Lingyunzi’s Ancient Treasure throws him back, and a Nascent Soul cultivator’s flying knives shatter his staff 64 249 275.

Rapid Healing

Shisan attributes his recovery to both body refinement and his unusual natural constitution 43.

  • Most wounds from the Lü cultivators’ flying swords close shortly after the fight 43.
  • Wang Yan observes this improvement without seeing him apply medicine or take measures to stop the bleeding 43.
  • Survives being kicked into a cliff and buried under rubble during the masked cultivators’ ambush; he later explains that the impact only knocked him unconscious 55 57 61.
  • His exceptional physique allows him to survive the Third Young Master’s deep poisoning, but recovery is incomplete even after his external wounds appear healed 183.
  • Eating White-Scaled Snowfish helps him recover rapidly, while refined Snow Dragon Fish spirit liquid further heals his injuries and improves his constitution 184 192.

Immortal Roots and Spellcasting Limitations

Card Fairy identifies Shisan’s earth–metal dual immortal root as a rare and promising aptitude 48.

  • Practices an earth-element cultivation method 44.
  • Repeatedly fails at spell practice, leaving him dependent on body refinement 44.
  • His altered body and meridians make switching to an ordinary cultivator’s method difficult 48.
  • Fascination with Wang Yan’s fireballs and the flying-sword ability he witnesses drives him to repeatedly request spell lessons 48.
  • His age and dual roots would qualify him for direct Firecloud Sect admission, although his mature appearance makes his youth easy to overlook 69.
  • High Person Golden Cloud later confirms his dual roots and body-refining potential through a personal examination 146.

His early difficulty with ordinary spells does not prevent him from developing specialized earth-based divine abilities through the Earthforce Art 64 89 176.

Earthforce Art

Card Fairy prepares the Earthforce Art specifically to suit Shisan, and Wang Yan supplies it in a jade slip 49 50.

  • Intended to address his need for a suitable cultivation method 48 49.
  • His first obstacle is learning how to read the jade slip; he later successfully practices the art and reaches major completion of the Cultivation Realm 50 54.
  • Combines an earth-element cultivation art with body-refining divine abilities, greatly enhancing strength and defense 80.
  • Allows him to suppress his aura while scouting the occupied stockade with Wang Yan 64.
  • Produces orange spiritual light and an earth-armored body capable of resisting coordinated weapon attacks 54 89.
  • Its first level is mastered by the time he reaches the peak of full completion of the Cultivation Realm 86.
  • Supports earth manipulation in combat, including stone-fist attacks and stone spikes used against the Third Young Master’s golden cauldron 176.
  • Card Fairy reports its fourth layer during his recovery and weight training; the subsequent early Core Condensation breakthrough is described as bringing it to the third level, leaving the level terminology inconsistent 184 192.

The unrefined Black Mother Iron Rod cannot fully express the art’s power. Wang Yan therefore equips Shisan with the Earth Spirit Gold Staff and strong defensive Spirit Artifacts suited to his direct fighting style 79 80.

Combat Cooperation

Shisan typically serves as the frontline fighter, absorbing pressure and delivering heavy blows while his companions supply ranged attacks, control, or tactical support 89 104 176.

  • Works with the Zhang sisters to gain the advantage against the Hengshan Four Fiends 89 90.
  • Acts as bait and frontline defender against the Four-Armed Stonefire Spirit Beast, then strikes its head with his staff while the sisters restrain it 104.
  • Shields the sisters after opportunistic cultivators damage or seize their weapons 105 108.
  • Cooperates intuitively with Wang Yan against the Third Young Master. Wang Yan learns to support his headlong attacks rather than attempt to impose a complicated plan on him 176.
  • Protects Wang Yan and attacks Snow Dragon Fish while Wang Yan captures them with the secret-realm pagoda 192.
  • Delivers a timely strike that helps secure Lingyunzi’s capture, although he does not recognize the importance of his own contribution 253.

His preference for meeting opponents head-on can be exploited by coordinated techniques. The Zhang sisters hold him off in a sparring match, whereas Wang Yan defeats them by separating their cooperation and concentrating on Zhang Qiulang 164.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Black Iron Rod / black mother iron staff — Shisan’s cherished “precious black lump.” Refined over several years from ore found behind the stockade, it withstands repeated Magic Artifact strikes without visible damage. Card Fairy identifies its material as black mother iron, a valuable ingredient for strengthening magical weapons 43. Wang Yan later returns it to him after the ambush. Despite its valuable material, it has not been refined into a Magic Artifact or Spirit Artifact and cannot fully unleash the Earthforce Art’s power 61 80.
  • Storage Bag — Given to him by Wang Yan to conceal the staff from cultivators who might recognize its value. Shisan previously lacked one and had spent his ten Spirit Stones on Spiritual Energy Pills 44. Wang Yan later provides a Storage Bag containing Spirit Stones and pills for their journey toward the Firecloud Sect, and returns belongings set aside from the Cloud Mountain Treasure Land 72 163.
  • Spiritual Energy Pills — Purchased to accelerate his cultivation toward his sect ambitions. He later reports consuming an entire bottle without advancing 44 50.
  • Earthforce Art jade slip — Delivered by Wang Yan after Card Fairy prepares the technique 49 50.
  • Earth Spirit Gold Staff — A Spirit Artifact acquired as part of Wang Yan’s investment in Shisan’s combat equipment. Better suited than his original rod to expressing his body-refining power, it becomes his principal close-combat weapon 79 80 90. Wang Yan repairs poison damage and upgrades it to supreme grade with additional materials, including black mother iron 183 184. It is later shattered by a Nascent Soul cultivator’s dark cyan flying knives 275.
  • Earth Gang Shield — A large defensive Spirit Artifact used against the Four-Armed Stonefire Spirit Beast, Xu Shao’s flying swords, and the Third Young Master’s poisonous attacks 104 150 174. Poison corrodes it after the revenge battle; Wang Yan repairs it and improves its power without a confirmed grade increase 183 184.
  • Earth God Armor — Protective armor that helps him endure the Third Young Master’s poison and golden cauldron. Wang Yan repairs and strengthens it after the battle, but it is damaged again during a fight with a powerful Snow Dragon Fish 174 176 183 184 190.
  • High-grade Spirit Artifact hammer — Used against the Third Young Master’s Banana Leaf Fan. Its attack is weakened and knocked aside by the fan’s gusts; Wang Yan later repairs and improves it 174 183 184.
  • Flame Spirit Pearl — A treasure in Shisan’s possession after the Four Peaks Competition. Wang Yan advises him to refine it and strengthen his arsenal before pursuing revenge; its completed refinement is not shown in the supplied context 164.
  • Secret-realm access incantation and Restriction Token — Supplied by Wang Yan so Shisan can enter and leave the Cave Abode Secret Realm independently 183.
  • Contact bell — An enchanted bell used by Wang Yan and Shisan to contact one another during their travels and arrange their reunion 235.
  • Snowfish and Snow Dragon Fish spirit liquid — Nourishing fish are among his favored foods. Spirit liquid refined from Snow Dragon Fish by Wang Yan aids body refinement, recovery, and his early Core Condensation breakthrough 70 184 192.
  • Body-refining equipment — Metal barbells and other training apparatus fill his Earth Cloud Peak cave abode; he later trains with enormous metal balls in Wang Yan’s secret realm 146 184.

Relationships

  • Wang Yan — Rescuer, friend, and informal mentor. Shisan calls him “big brother,” brings him to the stockade, and repeatedly seeks spell instruction. His unguarded declaration of friendship makes Wang Yan hesitate over treating him merely as a source of valuable ore 43 44 46 48 50. Their relationship develops into reciprocal brotherly loyalty: Wang Yan funds his equipment, protects him during the stockade’s destruction, promises to help avenge his family, and repairs his treasures; Shisan in turn protects Wang Yan in battle and refuses to abandon him to Lingyunzi 65 69 79 164 183 249. Wang Yan calls him his “lucky star” after Shisan’s roar unexpectedly helps trigger a Heart-Control Art breakthrough 182. Although Wang Yan trusts him personally, he conceals dangerous secrets because of Shisan’s poor discretion 224 235. After his prolonged confinement in a time formation, Wang Yan still intends to return to the Firecloud Sect to check on him 302.
  • Ye Mingtian — Father, stockade chief, and original cultivation teacher. Shisan fears his authority but resents being denied opportunities to travel and prove himself 45 46 48 50. His death during the stockade’s destruction becomes a central source of Shisan’s grief, sleeplessness, and cultivation drive. Shisan wishes both to avenge him and, if possible, bring him back to life 61 64 113 147 164.
  • Shi Nu / Brother Shi — Stockade gate guard whom Shisan initially addresses respectfully. Shisan argues against his treatment of Wang Yan, then pleads for his life after Wang Yan defeats him 44 45. Shi Nu subsequently betrays the stockade, kills its mortal warriors, and ambushes Shisan. Shisan had regarded him as a dear older brother and struggles to accept his treachery, rejecting the nickname that Shi Nu habitually used 55 60 61.
  • Fair-skinned talisman vendor — A stranger he protects from extortion. He pays her tax, stays nearby to discourage further harassment, and refuses more than reimbursement 35 36.
  • Card Fairy — Indirect cultivation adviser working through Wang Yan. She diagnoses his training problem and prepares the Earthforce Art for him 48 49. She later emphasizes his exceptional aptitude, defenses, and loyalty, evaluates his breakthroughs, and supplies cultivation guidance through Wang Yan 77 86 184 192 242.
  • Lü Household cultivators — Enemies who pursue him after his marketplace intervention, surround him, and attack with flying swords 37 41 43.
  • Blacksmith Ye / Grandpa Blacksmith — Stockade weaponsmith and protective elder. He finds Shisan through the villagers’ scent markers, tells him of the massacre, and helps guide the survivors toward the stockade through his old mine 61 62. He sacrifices himself to intercept Red Second Madam’s flying knife, saving Shisan’s life with “Run” as his final instruction 65.
  • High Person Golden Cloud — Master on Earth Cloud Peak. He intervenes after Shisan resists extortion by five veteran disciples, recognizes his talent, and personally trains him 146. Shisan remains grateful for his instruction, while Golden Cloud expects him to win the Four Peaks Competition and controls when he enters its later matches 150 160 167.
  • Zhang Qiulin and Zhang Qiulang — Friends and longstanding combat companions. They join Shisan and Wang Yan for the Cloud Mountain Treasure Land, support him against the Hengshan Four Fiends, and acknowledge his protection by calling him their “third little brother” 88 89 90 105 108. Their friendship includes teasing, cultivation discussions, and sparring; all three stand by Wang Yan against Lingyunzi 164 242 249.
  • Red Second Madam — Wicked Poison Sect enemy associated with the stockade’s destruction. She gravely wounds Shisan during his first revenge attempt, and Blacksmith Ye dies protecting him from her 64 65. Shisan later returns with Wang Yan to avenge the stockade; her eventual death fulfills a central part of that revenge 169 172 182.
  • Wicked Poison Sect’s Third Young Master — Opponent during the revenge ambush. His poisonous treasures severely injure Shisan and corrode his equipment, while his interest in turning Shisan into a “poison man” reflects the value he places on Shisan’s physique 174 176 183. Wang Yan later informs Shisan that he and Red Second Madam are dead 182.
  • Young Master Lei and the Hengshan Four Fiends — Enemies encountered at the entrance to the Cloud Mountain Treasure Land. Shisan fights the Four Fiends while Wang Yan confronts Lei, with the Zhang sisters supporting the battle 88 89 90.
  • Lingyunzi — Golden Core sect member who attacks Wang Yan and the group. Shisan refuses to flee, helps secure his capture, and afterward worries about the consequences of attacking a fellow Firecloud disciple 249 253.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Marketplace Intervention and Pursuit

  • Stops three Lü Household cultivators from extorting a disguised female vendor by offering the legitimate three-Spirit-Stone fee. Wang Yan quietly rallies the crowd in support 35.
  • Leaves after accepting only reimbursement, then spends nearly all his money on pills 36 37.
  • Is pursued into the mountains and fights the three cultivators while already wounded. Wang Yan subsequently rescues him 41 43.

Return to Ye Family Stockade

  • Introduces himself after the rescue and asks Wang Yan to help him find the road because he is lost 43.
  • Reveals the source of his rod’s ore and agrees to bring Wang Yan to the stockade, believing his rescuer needs refuge from the Lü Household 43 44.
  • Tries to prevent conflict at the entrance, where Shi Nu refuses Wang Yan entry. Ye Mingtian intervenes and ultimately admits their guest 44 45 46.
  • Arranges Wang Yan’s lodging and shows him around on his father’s instructions. Wang Yan suspects their constant companionship may also serve to monitor him 47.

Search for Suitable Training

  • Expresses envy when Wang Yan reaches major completion, then faces his father’s criticism over his own slow progress 49 50.
  • Receives the Earthforce Art after being refused permission to join a proposed weapons escort. He eagerly leaves to study it, only to return immediately for instructions on reading the jade slip 50.
  • Successfully practices the new art over the following months and reaches major completion before preparing to spar with Wang Yan 54.

Betrayal and Destruction of the Stockade

  • Confronts Shi Nu after the guard admits betraying the stockade and murdering its mortal warriors. The masked cultivators’ leader kicks Shisan into a cliff, apparently leaving him buried beneath rubble 55.
  • Survives the impact. Wang Yan later finds him bloodied and fighting in a frenzy, then treats his head and chest wounds 57 61.
  • Learns from Blacksmith Ye that his father and the stockade’s residents have been killed. He defends Wang Yan when the elder initially suspects their guest of betrayal 61.
  • Attempts to rush home but is stopped by Wang Yan. After resting, he carries the exhausted blacksmith and agrees to approach through the old mine rather than attack the entrance guards 62.
  • Overhears confirmation of the massacre and charges Red Second Madam in rage. Her flying knife pierces his chest, and Blacksmith Ye sacrifices himself to prevent a killing blow 64 65.
  • Escapes through the tunnels with Wang Yan, despite repeatedly wishing to stay and fight to the death. During the flight, he carries Wang Yan through an underground current and breaks through to full completion of the Cultivation Realm 65 66 68 69.
  • Kills a captured Wicked Poison Sect cultivator after Wang Yan urges him to avenge his father. The killing leaves him distressed and does not relieve his grief 71 72.

  • Travels toward the Firecloud Sect with Wang Yan. After learning that recruitment involves a deadly expedition, he insists on sharing the danger, and Wang Yan agrees to enter with him 72 77.
  • Receives three expensive Spirit Artifacts from Wang Yan, whose preparations emphasize Shisan’s role as a heavily protected frontline fighter 79 80.
  • Reaches the peak of full completion and masters the Earthforce Art’s first level during the sect’s provisional training period 86.
  • Forms a four-person team with Wang Yan and the Zhang sisters. By holding hands during teleportation, they arrive together in the Cloud Mountain Treasure Land 88.
  • Battles the Hengshan Four Fiends while the sisters assist him and Wang Yan confronts Young Master Lei 89 90.
  • Helps defeat the Four-Armed Stonefire Spirit Beast through a coordinated trap, then protects the sisters from cultivators seeking to rob the exhausted group 104 105 108.
  • Reveals his distress over killing to Wang Yan and immediately responds to the possibility of bringing his father back to life 113.
  • Kills a White Spirit Sect cultivator who murders his own fellow disciple, treating betrayal as a boundary he cannot tolerate 115.

Earth Cloud Peak and the Four Peaks Competition

  • Resists five veteran disciples who attempt to extort him after he joins Earth Cloud Peak. His endurance attracts High Person Golden Cloud, who accepts him as a disciple and trains him personally 146.
  • Becomes the first among their recruited group to reach the Core Condensation Realm 144 146.
  • Enters the Four Peaks Competition with the goal of first place. Wang Yan recognizes both his formidable strength and the blood feud motivating his cultivation 147.
  • Faces Xu Shao in the opening match, uses his staff and shield to overpower him, and advances past the first round 150 151.
  • Is initially held back by Earth Cloud Peak’s strategy of exhausting other contenders before sending him in 157 160.
  • After Wang Yan concedes rather than fight him, defeats five opponents in succession in less than two hours through overwhelming close-combat force 161.
  • Later spars with the Zhang sisters, whose coordinated divine ability prevents him from winning by his usual direct approach 164.

Revenge Against Red Second Madam

  • Reminds Wang Yan of their promise to return for revenge after the competition. Wang Yan agrees, but insists on another two or three months of preparation 164.
  • Leaves Firecloud Divine Mountain with Wang Yan on a sect mission toward the Azure Spirit Mountain Range 166.
  • Learns that the former stockade has become the Red Market, a front for the Wicked Poison Sect. He accepts Wang Yan’s decision to infiltrate alone with Phantom Face while he waits outside 169.
  • Joins Wang Yan in watching for Red Second Madam and the Third Young Master to leave. The pair take an opportunity to ambush them away from Elder Du, a Golden Core cultivator 172.
  • Fights the Third Young Master through successive poisonous attacks, using his shield, armor, hammer, and earth-based techniques while Wang Yan supports him 174 176.
  • Awakens injured and learns that both enemies are dead. His grief and gratitude are accompanied by Wang Yan’s reassurance that he contributed to their defeat 182.
  • Wishes to reclaim the stockade immediately but agrees to recover and hide when reminded that a Golden Core cultivator is searching for them 182.

Recovery, Snow Dragon Fish, and Underground Exploration

  • Entrusts his poisoned and cracked treasures to Wang Yan for repair. Wang Yan strengthens them with black mother iron, upgrading the Earth Spirit Gold Staff to supreme grade 183 184.
  • Begins catching White-Scaled Snowfish and discovers an enormous specimen. An accidental collision with the secret-realm tower explains a brief tremor that initially appears threatening 183 184.
  • Recovers quickly through eating the fish and continues demanding physical training. Card Fairy identifies a fish he saves for Wang Yan as a Snow Dragon Fish 184.
  • Helps explore the spiritually rich underground water and scouts the Kui Water Spirit Milk lake. A powerful fish badly injures him and damages his newly repaired armor 186 190 191 192.
  • Requests refined Snow Dragon Fish spirit liquid to aid cultivation and reaches early Core Condensation after consuming it 192.
  • Uses his enhanced strength to protect Wang Yan and clear the underwater cave of fish, enabling the pair to approach a brilliant blue light deeper inside 192.
  • Assists Wang Yan’s further work near the underwater opening, with blue beast-tendon loops attaching him to the secret-realm pagoda 194.

Independent Missions, Reunion, and Sect Conflict

  • Is left cultivating inside the secret-realm pagoda while Wang Yan searches for another portion of the Water-Type Immortal Card Artifact. He protests that they still have sect missions to complete 200.
  • Receives a message from Wang Yan during their separation and independently completes every mission the pair had accepted 224 235.
  • Reunites warmly with Wang Yan in the Azure Spirit Mountain Range and returns with him toward the Firecloud Sect 235.
  • Soon sets out alone again to seek combat and experience. Card Fairy considers practical fighting particularly suitable for his temperament 236.
  • Returns with news that Lin Nation’s three major sects have declared war on Cloud Nation 241 242.
  • Exchanges cultivation insights with Wang Yan and the Zhang sisters, receiving Card Fairy’s advice indirectly. His defenses impress Wang Yan during their subsequent sparring 242.
  • Refuses to abandon Wang Yan during Lingyunzi’s attack and follows the enemy despite the disparity in cultivation. His timely strike later helps secure Lingyunzi’s capture 249 253.

War and Later Confirmed Progress

  • Continues fighting during the war with Lin Nation. In one dangerous encounter, a Nascent Soul cultivator’s flying knives shatter his Earth Spirit Gold Staff and send him flying 275.
  • Attends a gathering with Wang Yan, Liu Wushuang, and other cultivators after the war. His aura has become steadier and suggests that he is approaching great completion of Core Condensation 285.
  • His progress is attributed to genuine talent, wartime experience, and pills supplied by Wang Yan. Wang Yan considers him a promising future Golden Core cultivator, but no such breakthrough is confirmed 285.
  • Much later, after more than a hundred years have passed outside Wang Yan’s time formation, Wang Yan plans to return to the Firecloud Sect to check on Shisan. Shisan’s cultivation and circumstances during that interval remain unreported 302.
