He could remember for half a year how Gua had stuck a rice dumpling on his butt and pretended it was poop. So Gua was afraid that after he'd made Obito snap by saying "Rin doesn't love you," Obito would stop at nothing to kill him.
After all, that lunatic was entirely capable of it.
But he'd had no other choice at the time. Unless he made Obito snap, there was no way he could gain the upper hand in a head-on fight within three minutes.
