An Xi glided through the air, a pair of snow-white wings traced with pale gold veins spread behind her.
Below her, Zhu Qing ran toward the village, covering five or six meters with each stride.
Some survivors followed behind them.
The village was small, with forty-odd rural houses scattered haphazardly around a concrete road.
Around the houses lay fields overgrown with weeds after being left untended.

Zhu Qing and An Xi led the charge, each heading for a different house.
The first group behind them consisted of Zhou Dun, the Wu Siblings, and Cheng Xue. At the front, Zhou Dun paused when he saw what Zhu Qing and An Xi were doing, then gripped his Tang Dao.
He proceeded slowly, keeping a wary eye on his surroundings, seemingly afraid that an Anomaly might suddenly jump out.
As Cheng Xue looked at the familiar village, a jumble of emotions filled her heart.
She had grown up here, and this was the village she had left behind.
When the apocalypse arrived, she had thought she would never return. Yet the Train had brought her here. Although it hadn't stopped here, she had been fortunate enough to encounter her current convoy.
Now she was back in the place she knew so well.
"Shall we go over there?" Wu Meng pointed at the nearest house apart from the ones Zhu Qing and An Xi had entered.
Hearing her suggestion, Zhou Dun was about to agree, but Cheng Xue spoke first, rejecting it.
"That's my third great-uncle's house. Apart from some cured meat and basic grains, oil, and flour, there probably isn't anything else inside."
Cheng Xue's words delighted Wu Meng, who suddenly realized something. "Right! Xue, you're from this village! You must know where there's more food and supplies!"
