Background / History

Early Convoy Duties

Zhu Qing awakened his Giant Sequence accidentally during an encounter with an Anomaly. By his first appearance, he and An Xi were the convoy’s two combat-type Sequence Adepts, responsible for entering supply locations and protecting the other survivors 3 6 13.

At the first depicted town stop, he dismissed Zhang Hui’s warning and charged ahead in a three-meter giant form. An Ironclad Zombie forced him and An Xi to cover the survivors’ retreat instead of freely scavenging. Unable to penetrate its defenses, Zhu Qing used a partly shattered coffin lid to knock it back into town, then escaped with An Xi and their supply-filled backpacks 3 8.

Eerie Pig Battle

After reaching Sequence 8, Zhu Qing intercepted an Eerie Pig by gripping its tusks. Although it initially drove him backward, he stopped its charge and restrained it while An Xi and Chu Sheng attacked. The five-minute struggle left him exhausted; Zhang Hui assessed the creature as possessing Sequence 8 strength 18 19.

Zhang Hui credited Zhu Qing with the greatest contribution and gave him first choice of the supernatural materials. Zhu Qing selected the bulky pig spine and offered it to Chu Sheng for two trotters or two free Sacrificial Item fusions. His gratitude rested partly on the mistaken belief that Chu Sheng’s frantic attacks had been motivated by concern for him 19 20.

Supermarket Anomaly and Rescue

During a later supply run, Zhu Qing searched a supermarket alone and encountered a ghostlike Anomaly he could not touch. It inflicted numerous wounds and pursued him outside. Recognizing that An Xi’s arrival would not make the fight winnable, he warned everyone to flee 26 27.

An Xi told him to shrink and grab her White Jade Spear, using its recall ability to pull him and his backpack toward Chu Sheng’s pickup. Zhu Qing healed his wounds with a Little Supernatural Cherry Tomato and maintained his grip despite the Anomaly’s sleep-inducing scream. He reached the truck but lost consciousness; Zhang Hui later described the mental attack as temporary and harmless 27 28 29.

Afterward, Zhu Qing surrendered his share of the childlike Anomaly’s materials to An Xi and Chu Sheng, explicitly crediting them with saving his life 30.

Black Blade Gloves

At a trading meeting, Zhang Hui persuaded Zhu Qing to consider a weapon rather than concentrate exclusively on transformation-compatible clothing. Zhu Qing subsequently brought Chu Sheng rotten wood, white paper, and a blade for assessment 37 39.

Chu Sheng offered him the Black Glove, whose adaptive fit and percentage-based strength increase suited his Giant form. Zhu Qing accepted in exchange for canceling the two fusions owed to him, then had it fused with the blade. The resulting Black Blade Gloves embarrassed him deeply when An Xi discovered their usage price; he later regretted the resources invested in them 40 41.

Golden Armored Zombie Attack

When a Golden Armored Zombie landed on Zhu Qing’s off-road vehicle and punched through its roof, he braced against it hard enough to nearly dislodge it. An Xi’s spear strike knocked it away, allowing the lead vehicles to continue fleeing 45.

After the escape, Zhu Qing recruited helpers to repair the damaged roof. He abandoned the patching work when Chu Sheng’s vehicle upgrade drew his attention 47.

Personality

Zhu Qing is outspoken, boastful, and willing to meet threats head-on. Early on, he claims that no Anomaly stands a chance against him and barely absorbs Zhang Hui’s warning against overconfidence. He also regards his inability to feel pain while transformed as an advantage that makes him more fearless 3 12.

His confidence coexists with insecurity about his comparatively straightforward power. He envies An Xi’s returning spear and Chu Sheng’s crafting abilities, describing himself as merely an “ordinary Giant.” Even after reaching Sequence 8, he admits that Sequence 9 An Xi can defeat him 16 23 24.

He is grateful and generous toward teammates who help him. He offers Chu Sheng favorable terms for the pig spine and later relinquishes supernatural materials after being rescued. However, his objection to Chu Sheng killing a thief concerns the gruesome method rather than the killing itself 17 20 30.
