"So you're saying we're safe now?" Chu Sheng asked.
Captain Hui nodded. "That's right."
"I don't believe you."
Captain Hui: "..."
"Let's discuss what we're doing next." Captain Hui made it clear he didn't want to say any more.
"An Anomaly is chasing us. Those two corpses from earlier supplied it with life force, and now it's coming after us."
Everyone grew serious at his words.
"Corpses can supply Anomalies with life force too?" Zhu Qing asked, puzzled.
"I didn't expect it either. If I'd known, I would've divined it first!" Captain Hui sighed.
They had been about to leave, so he hadn't given it much thought. Now an Anomaly was chasing them.
"Fortunately, there's only one. The other Anomalies still need a few more hours before they can get out."
"My suggestion is to wait here for the Anomaly chasing us, kill it, then check out the village ahead."
"After all, that Anomaly might not give up on pursuing us. If we run into other Anomalies later, it could catch us by surprise."
"I agree!" An Xi raised her hand, her pretty face solemn.
"If we can deal with it here, all the better!"
"I agree too!" Zhu Qing nodded as well.
Old Man Li smacked his lips. "This is actually a good spot."
"Head inward, and we can enter the Anomaly Realm. Head outward, and we can gather supplies."
"The key is that road inside the Anomaly Realm. Anomalies can't get onto it without life force."
"That alone makes this place a whole lot safer."
Old Man Li's reasoning made Chu Sheng nod too.
Although he kept feeling that the final moment before victory was when things were most likely to go horribly wrong, he had to admit that waiting here for the pursuing Anomaly was their best
