That was the first thought that sprang into Beigong Ling's mind.
But soon, another thought followed.
Just as she had analyzed earlier, this operation had suffered devastating losses. All she could do now was minimize them.
But if Jonas was here... that changed things.
As long as Beigong Ling could capture him, she could turn the situation around completely.
After learning that Iris was utterly loyal to him, Beigong Ling had lost her only trump card.
But by the same token, she could use that loyalty against him.
At that thought, Beigong Ling began to waver... Without a doubt, given her original temperament, she would have taken the gamble without hesitation.
But Amau Sueko lay unconscious beside her now, and she no longer knew what decision to make.
Thoughts raced through Beigong Ling's mind. She looked at Jonas, took several deep breaths, and asked:
"How did you find this place?"
The question was clearly meant to buy time, but Jonas paid no mind to her little ploy. With the situation already firmly under his control... a petty trick like that could hardly make any waves.
He simply spoke calmly, saying his piece:
"I told you that you overestimated your trump card, Miss Beigong Ling, and underestimated the Alt Conglomerate's capabilities... I advised you not to make a decision you would regret. But from the looks of things, you didn't listen."
His voice was even, yet every word stung like a wound being torn open... Beigong Ling pressed her lips together and looked at the fully armed Alt Security Team beside and behind him.
His secretary, Miss Eiffel, stood quietly at his side, showing no intention of interrupting their conversation as she silently carried out her duties.
Only the faint chill in her glances
