Yet Miss Eiffel seemed not to dwell on the matter. After simply wiping the lipstick off Jonas's collar, she moved straight past the subject and asked:
"Mr. Jonas, I've prepared your car... Since Miss Esnie wasn't feeling well, I had her head back early to rest."
That was a lie.
Although she made it sound easy, Eiffel had paid no small price for this opportunity. The girl's authority often proved ineffective, and in the end, she had only secured this chance through a mixture of persuasion and pressure.
