The Federation erupted like a block of ice dropped into boiling oil. No one cared anymore about the bullshit news claiming that the Federation was invincible or had brought District 25 to its knees. Everyone was focused on whether the information Jonas had revealed was true.
Those wars seemed to have vanished overnight. In the face of internal unrest, they seemed insignificant. At least, most media outlets stopped paying attention to the front lines and focused instead on extensive coverage of this incident.
On the battlefields in the Wasteland, the stalemate dragged on and on. Aside from the soldiers' complaints and cries of misery, there was barely anything worth filming.
Jonas had helped drive all of this-people chanting slogans, people carrying banners, media outlets speaking out. Even those who had called for an end to the Federation's tyranny that day stood on his side. In short, Jonas was rapidly destabilizing the emotions of the Federation's people. Some of it would seem implausible, people would see through it, and the Federation would have countermeasures, but the greatest advantage of this approach was its speed.
"That damned Jonas. How the hell did he get those documents? Fuck, couldn't the families doing this brain-dead shit have put better security in place?"
"I'm telling you, forget about getting any rest over the next few days. We'll be lucky to squeeze in a ten- or twenty-minute nap."
In the information department, employees grumbled under their breath.
Unrest had erupted within the Federation. Until those emotions subsided, any number of Jonas's actions could provoke further emotional reactions.
