In an office at the Alt Conglomerate, Jonas sat in his office chair, sipping coffee at a leisurely pace.
There was no need to control the emotions of District 25's residents. On the contrary, they could actively promote those sentiments. Making the Federation a target was better than letting people vent unnecessary resentment within District 25.
They woke up in the morning to begin another day of suffering, without even breakfast to eat. After lunch, they had a precious ten-minute break before getting back to work. When they needed the bathroom in the afternoon, they swiped their cards at the restroom and started the timer, finishing within five minutes or losing their bonus for the month. Even after dinner, they could not go home and had to work overtime. In the final half hour of the day, they finally returned home and vented their resentment at the Federation.
What a perfect day. Even Jonas was envious.
As for the Federation, it was not that he was neglecting it. He had already sent out every spy he needed to send. Worrying any more would accomplish nothing. He might as well hope the Research Department would start delivering results and dig up more treasures from the Predecessor Civilization sometime. Their research depended entirely on other people's memories and archaeology.
Until the consciousness from the Predecessor Civilization that had taken over Dorothy made a move, he could only exercise caution and take precautions, staying alert in case it suddenly unleashed something major. That would make the fight much harder.
He was already keeping constant watch on Dorothy's movements. All that remained was to wait.
