Mo Lu stared steadily into Weisheng Tou's eyes.
Those gleaming black eyes were full of innocence and hurt.
Silence lingered in the room. At last, Mo Lu slowly withdrew his gaze and turned his attention to the Ancient Text on the desk.
If this was not what Weisheng Tou was truly like, then he was far too good an actor.
At least, Mo Lu could read nothing in his eyes. Stare long enough, and he could even catch the faint nervousness and unease flickering across Weisheng Tou's face.
As though he truly feared being abandoned by him.
"Heh..." Mo Lu gave a cold laugh.
"...Young master?"
Confusion showed on Weisheng Tou's face, but the hand hanging at his side tightened slightly.
Did Mo Lu... dislike him this way?
Would Mo Lu prefer someone stronger?
But he... he didn't want Mo Lu to see him like that. Once he got worked up, he lost all control, like a wild beast.
So at least let him try to act like a normal person in front of Mo Lu.
A normal person who had loved Mo Lu for many, many years.
"Weisheng Tou," Mo Lu said coldly, turning the White Jade Thumb Ring on his hand, "I don't like the people around me keeping things from me. I hope you won't do that."
Weisheng Tou's eyes flickered. He immediately lowered his head. "Yes, young master. I wouldn't dare deceive you."
"Good." Mo Lu closed the Ancient Text. "Go out and send Ye Liang in."
Weisheng Tou went still.
"Yes."
He rose and left the room all the same.
Ye Liang was standing outside.
"Ye Liang." Weisheng Tou's face was expressionless.
"Heh. Got kicked out?" Ye Liang leaned against a nearby pillar with a mocking smile.
His knee, which Weisheng Tou had just kicked out of joint, still throbbed faintly, but he let none of it show.
Everyone in the Mo Family knew that Young Master Mo Lu hated being disturbed while studying or cultivating at night.
At Ye Liang's words, Weisheng Tou paused. After a long moment, he gave a lazy smile. "Ye Liang, do you like the young master?"
Ye Liang straightened, his expression instantly darkening.
He glanced toward the room and lowered his voice. "Weisheng Tou, I'm warning you. Watch what you say."
Weisheng Tou scoffed and said carelessly, "You should learn to control your expressions first. What are you, a baby? You wear everything on your face."
Ye Liang nearly choked with anger.
He was about to retort when Weisheng Tou walked straight over to the bench beside the corridor and sat down. Then he lifted his chin and said:
"Oh, right. The young master wants you inside."
"Weisheng Tou, just you wait."
Leaving that vicious threat behind, Ye Liang pushed the door open and entered.
"Young master." He stood respectfully to one side.
"Mm." Mo Lu opened his eyes. "Investigate everything Weisheng Tou has experienced over the past twenty-one years. Including his time in the cage."
Ye Liang's eyes lit up, and he immediately answered, "Yes!"
The next day.
Dawn was just breaking, pale daylight illuminating the sparse morning stars.
Weisheng Tou stood listlessly at the entrance to Lan Mountain Residence, waiting for Mo Lu to leave for the Mo Family Main House.
Ye Liang had left before daybreak. Who knew where he had gone?
Only after roughly the time it took an incense stick to burn did Mo Lu slowly emerge.
He wore a navy cross-collared robe embroidered with simple silver cloud patterns. A dark blue tassel earring hung from his right earlobe, and gold-rimmed half-frame glasses rested on his face.
His alluring eyes lay hidden behind the thin lenses, his gaze as cold as frost clinging to a leaf.
Morning light fell over him, tracing him in faintly cool gold and making him look immeasurably refined and noble.
Weisheng Tou could not bear that sense of distance. He strode straight up to Mo Lu.
"Good morning, young master."
He lowered his head slightly, gazing at Mo Lu, who was half a head shorter than him.
Desire lay buried deep in his eyes.
"Mm." Mo Lu did not break stride or even spare Weisheng Tou a glance. He got straight into the car.
The driver closed the door with trepidation.
Weisheng Tou immediately followed him in.
His brows drew together slightly as he watched Mo Lu resting in the car with his eyes closed.
He didn't want this.
Right now, Mo Lu paid him no mind at all.
"Weisheng Tou."
Weisheng Tou immediately answered, "Young master."
"I didn't take you in because you're a Super S-Rank Alpha. I took you in because of the Curse Technique on your body."
Mo Lu cast a dispassionate glance at Weisheng Tou's lower abdomen.
"The Curse Technique on your body interests me, and I haven't found a way to break it yet."
"Mm." Weisheng Tou nodded gently.
Mo Lu continued, "So, from now on, come to my room every Saturday. I'll suppress it for you so you won't have any more fits of madness. You have only one purpose: to serve as my research subject."
"...Yes."
Silence settled over the car for a moment before Weisheng Tou spoke softly, his voice a little husky:
"Young master, I could be useful in other ways too."
Turning the White Jade Thumb Ring on his thumb, Mo Lu looked over at Weisheng Tou and raised an eyebrow.
Weisheng Tou's eyes were clear. "I can warm your bed too."
The driver up front gave a very ill-timed cough.
Keeping someone and sleeping with them were actually fairly common practices in powerful families.
He had seen far too many people eager to warm the young master's bed, but they had all been Omegas various families went to great lengths to send over.
Every one of them had been fresh-faced and beautiful, charming and seductive, soft-bodied and easy to tumble into bed. Even looking at them made him blush.
Yet the young master had accepted none of them.
Those who shamelessly insisted on staying had all become servants of the Mo Family.
As for an Alpha eagerly offering to warm the young master's bed, he had truly never seen that before, much less a Super S-Rank Alpha.
Mo Lu stared steadily at Weisheng Tou, who resembled a docile, oversized dog.
After a moment, he gave a soft laugh. "Weisheng Tou, is warming the beds of Mo Family members what your Weisheng Family teaches you?"
As though he had not understood Mo Lu's mockery at all, Weisheng Tou gazed at him with clear eyes instead. "Young master, I only like the scent of white tea..."
Mo Lu remained unmoved by Weisheng Tou's words.
He turned back to face forward, his voice cold. "Have Ye Liang get you some Silver Needle White Tea when we return."
"Young master." Weisheng Tou leaned a little closer to Mo Lu, his breath carrying a hint of rose wine as it brushed Mo Lu's ear and the side of his neck. His voice sounded aggrieved. "Young master, am I not worthy?"
A green gleam flashed through Mo Lu's eyes. He immediately turned sideways and clamped his slender fingers around Weisheng Tou's throat, faint black light flickering at his fingertips.
"Weisheng Tou, if you keep this up, I'll make you disappear from my sight."
Not only was Weisheng Tou unafraid, he even raised his chin slightly, making it easier for Mo Lu.
He looked a little dejected, the light fading from his gleaming black eyes. "...I overstepped. That day at Hidden Splendor Pool, I thought you might like me."
Mo Lu's fingers tightened further.
Weisheng Tou's breathing immediately grew short.
Mo Lu narrowed his eyes slightly. Holding Weisheng Tou by the throat, he pulled him close, bringing his lips to Weisheng Tou's ear and lowering his voice to a near whisper:
"Weisheng Tou, don't think you can get close to me just because your pheromones happen to match mine. You're not worthy."
"Hah..."
Feeling the warm breath against his ear, Weisheng Tou trembled slightly, a sick desire simmering in his eyes.
Then his lips immediately twisted in self-mockery, and he spoke hoarsely, the words coming in broken fragments:
"Young master, I would never dare covet you. I... only want to be more useful to you, in whatever way I can."
"Weisheng Tou, that had better be what you think."
Mo Lu released Weisheng Tou's throat.
Weisheng Tou immediately bowed his head and coughed, his cheeks flushed, yet his eyes brimmed with possessive madness.
Mo Lu, Mo Lu, Mo Lu, Mo Lu, Mo Lu.
His Mo Lu.
So cold. So fierce.
He really, truly loved it.
