Background / History

Childhood in the Xiao Clan

Gu Yuan sent Xun'er to the Xiao Clan as a young girl to give her a happy, complete childhood. She had few friends in either clan and kept her origins largely concealed from the Xiao Clan 71 73.

Xiao Yan repeatedly entered her room at night, holding her hand and using Dou Qi to nourish her meridians. Initially wary, she became curious about his unusual behavior and accustomed to his company. Their repeated private contact developed into a deep attachment that neither Gu Yuan nor the Xiao Clan fully understood 29 73.

When Ling Ying discovered the visits, Xun'er forbade him from interfering with Xiao Yan. She continued to defend the encounters as harmless childhood behavior and insisted that their history remain secret 29 73.

The Ancient Jade Dispute

During the Six-Clan Alliance's war with the Hun Clan, Gu Clan elders pressed Xun'er to obtain the Xiao Clan's Ancient Jade. She promised to handle the matter herself but rejected Ling Ying's suggestion that she abandon Xiao Yan and return home 29.

Gu Yuan eventually came to retrieve both his daughter and the jade. Xun'er argued that the jade belonged to the Xiao Clan and that taking it would hurt Xiao Yan. Her father slapped her, reprimanded her divided loyalties, and remained hidden in the Xiao Clan for three months to instruct her personally. He ultimately departed with the jade, while she remained behind 71.

Fan Tian's Letters and Yao Chen's Death

Fan Tian sent Xun'er two letters under the name Hun Mieba. One identified Ancestral Hall elder Gu Yang as a Hun Clan infiltrator; the other threatened to expose Xiao Yan's childhood visits. Expecting a romantic gift from Xiao Yan, she initially mistook the package for love letters 68 71 72.

Xun'er concluded that the soul accompanying Xiao Yan was the likely source of the leak. Treating Hun Mieba as a possible ally because of his warnings about the Hun Clan, she ordered Ling Ying to kill the soul and followed him toward the Tagor Desert in disguise. She prioritized silencing the suspected source over immediately reporting Gu Yang 73 75.

In the desert, Xun'er attacked Yao Chen and pursued Zi Yan after the latter rescued his Bone Spirit Ring. She killed three Heavenly Mansion Dou Wangs and attempted to subdue Zi Yan as a mount. Fan Tian intervened, falsely presenting himself as Hun Tiandi's son, and their confrontation escalated into a duel 96 97 98 99.

Fan Tian later used the captured Xiao Yan and Ling Ying to force negotiations. After he extracted Yao Chen's Bone Spirit Cold Flame, Xun'er interrogated the remaining soul. She interpreted Yao Chen's explanations as evidence that he was a Hall of Souls spy seeking the Ancient Jade and planning to possess Xiao Yan. Despite Xiao Yan's pleas, she burned Yao Chen's soul to destruction without establishing those accusations 105 106.

After securing Xiao Yan's release, Xun'er offered Fan Tian membership in the Gu Clan. When he refused, she broke their settlement and attacked him and his companions with Ancient Emperor Finger. Yao Ling intervened; both women were injured, and Xun'er withdrew rather than prolong the fight 107 108.

Supporting Xiao Yan and Targeting the Snake-People

Back in Wutan City, Xun'er apologized to Xiao Yan but maintained that Yao Chen had intended to possess him. Xiao Yan initially rejected her explanation. She supplied a high-grade Earth-tier cultivation method, three matching fire-attribute Dou Techniques, and pills of fifth tier or higher to support his recovery and advancement 109.

Her resources and personal instruction helped Xiao Yan reach Two-Star Great Dou Master, then Eight-Star Great Dou Master at eighteen. She subsequently entered seclusion, leaving the newly advanced Dou Zong Ling Ying to protect him 111 115.

Xun'er also secretly supplied pills to Jia Ma Empire leaders to strengthen them against the Snake-People Tribe. She intended to use local forces to probe the mysterious man allied with Medusa while avoiding another direct confrontation. Her attempts to contact Gu Clan experts failed, and she remained reluctant to use her father's personal jade slip 111.

Misty Cloud Sect and Capture

When Xiao Yan was beaten during the aftermath of the Three-Year Agreement, Xun'er arrived, scattered his attackers, and rescued him. At his demand for revenge, she agreed to destroy the Misty Cloud Sect and killed Yun Shan with golden flames already lurking inside his body 147.

Fan Tian confronted her again and openly used Spirit Devouring to undermine her bloodline enhancement. Yao Ling captured Xiao Yan, further restricting Xun'er's ability to fight. Severely injured and drained, Xun'er prepared to call her father before the Hall of Souls' arrival interrupted the confrontation 148 149.

Facing Venerables Qing Hai and Qin Tian, Xun'er temporarily joined forces with Yao Ling. Their combined Heaven-rank techniques injured both enemies but exhausted the women without killing their opponents. Qing Hai captured them and knocked them unconscious 150 151 152 153.

Fan Tian killed the two Venerables, absorbed their power, and carried away both unconscious women. He explicitly treated Xun'er as one of his “spoils of war”; no subsequent release is documented 153.

Appearance

  • Build and bearing: Slender, with a willow-slim waist, long legs, delicate fair features, and an elegant, ethereal presence 29 73.
  • Hair: Dark tresses falling to her waist 147.
  • Clothing: Wears a pale purple dress at the Xiao Clan, green clothing during the desert arc, and white robes at the Misty Cloud Sect 29 96 147.
  • Disguise: Conceals her face with a white veil while following Xiao Yan toward the desert 75.
  • Clan mark: A luminous golden mark between her brows; appears golden-red during her renewed bloodline activation against the Hall of Souls 29 151.
  • Combat appearance: Golden flames shine in her eyes and surround her body. She can replace destroyed clothing with an armored flame dress 29 100.

Personality

Xun'er is normally cool and reserved, but becomes affectionate and shy around Xiao Yan. Her devotion can override both clan obligations and other people's wishes: she opposes her father's seizure of the jade, rejects Xiao Yan's pleas for Yao Chen, and agrees to retaliate against the Misty Cloud Sect at Xiao Yan's request 71 106 111 147.

Her pride is closely tied to her lineage. During her first duel with Fan Tian, she treats defeat as proof that the Gu Clan is inferior to the Hun Clan. She also regards Zi Yan as a suitable mount for someone of her status and dismisses weaker opponents with little restraint 97 100.

Threats to her childhood secret expose a more suspicious and controlling side. She favors explanations that preserve Xiao Yan's innocence, redirects blame toward Yao Chen, and interprets his attempts at reassurance as further evidence against him 73 106.

Despite her arrogance, she can act cautiously when the stakes become clear. She avoids escalating the desert dispute into a clan war, retreats after Yao Ling injures her soul, and cooperates with her former opponent when the Hall of Souls threatens them both 99 108 150 152.

Abilities & Skills

Divine-Grade Dou Di Bloodline

Her inherited bloodline supports exceptional cultivation potential and powerful temporary enhancements 29 101.

  • Clan-mark activation: Raises her combat strength from Dou Zong into the Dou Zun range 101 103 108.
  • Cultivation potential: Described as capable of reaching Peak Nine-Star Dou Saint; this is potential, not an attained realm 29.
  • Growth advantage: A Dou Di bloodline is stated to encounter no cultivation bottlenecks before Dou Sheng 148.
  • Weakness to Spirit Devouring: Fan Tian's power frightens and destabilizes her bloodline, reducing her enhanced strength and accelerating her depletion 103 148 149.
  • Finite reserves: Pushing the bloodline to sustain repeated Heaven-rank attacks leaves her defenseless 152.

Golden Emperor Burning Heaven Flame

The Gu Clan's inherited Heavenly Flame has fused deeply with its bloodline 100.

  • Shaped attacks: Forms flaming birds, phoenix phantoms, enormous hands, blades, lotuses, and fiery rain 97 100 148 151.
  • Defense: Creates flame armor and shields her head after a soul injury 100 108.
  • Internal burning: Destroys Yun Shan from within 147.
  • Soul destruction: Burns Yao Chen's soul until it disappears 106.
  • Destructive heat: Melts the Misty Cloud Sect's stone plaza into lava and scorches or distorts space 100 148.
  • Limit: Fan Tian can absorb its attacks through Spirit Devouring 100 148.

Gu Clan Dou Techniques

  • Emperor Seal Art: Uses progressively stronger palm seals against Zi Yan; Heaven Annihilating Seal leaves the dragon badly wounded 98.
  • Ancient Emperor Finger: Heaven-rank technique used against Fan Tian and his companions after their negotiated settlement 107.
  • Ancient Saint Palm: Attempts to block Fan Tian while her bloodline enhancement is suppressed 149.
  • Emperor Flame Burns the Heavens: Accompanies renewed bloodline activation and creates a giant golden phoenix phantom 151.
  • Ancient Emperor Palm: Heaven-rank attack combined with Yao Ling's Medicine Emperor Finger against the Hall of Souls Venerables 152.

Spatial Manipulation

  • Remote retrieval: Pulls the wounded Xiao Yan directly to her side at the Misty Cloud Sect 147.
  • Spatial travel: Withdraws through a spatial fissure after fighting Yao Ling 108.

Close Combat and Soul Attacks

  • Hand-to-hand fighting: Trades punches, kicks, and counters with Fan Tian, combining physical strikes with her Heavenly Flame 100.
  • Precision: Stops Yao Chen's Heavy Ruler with two fingers and expels him from Xiao Yan's body 96.
  • Soul impact: Attacks Fan Tian's consciousness, though his Spirit Devouring origin absorbs the strike 101.
  • Combat limitation: Her limited life-or-death experience leaves her vulnerable to Yao Ling's soul techniques despite superior cultivation and bloodline 108.
