Background / History
Sound Valley and Transmigration
Fan Tian is an orphan and the sole disciple of Luo Linglong, Sound Valley’s only Dou Sheng. The valley regards him as a potential second Dou Sheng, and Yin Su permits him to travel only after warning him to conceal his affiliation and avoid powers beyond the valley’s ability to oppose 1 2.
As a transmigrator familiar with Battle Through the Heavens, he knows about the Hun Clan’s future threat and Xiao Yan’s opportunities. He prepares hundreds of leaflets exposing Hun Tiandi’s long-term scheme, intending to disrupt the original course of events rather than depend on either the Hun Clan or Xiao Yan 1.
A system offers him two rewards from eight options. He chooses origin qi and the Tunling Clan origin after weighing their usefulness and risks; the system grants both and immediately unbinds 1.
Sacred Pill City
Traveling under the name Ye Tian, Fan Tian meets Yao Ling in her apothecary. Their growing rapport provokes Ling Feng, whose companions pursue Fan Tian outside the city. Fan Tian kills and devours Ling Ruohai and Ling Ruokong, then traps and consumes Ling Feng by disabling his spatial summons 2 3 5 6.
He gives Yao Ling the Soul Infant Fruit taken from Ling Feng, falsely claiming it came from his family. When Spirit Clan investigators arrive, the gift threatens to implicate her; Fan Tian supplies a false alibi, claiming they had remained together throughout the disappearances 7 8.
Their relationship develops into intimacy, but Yao Wangui forcibly takes Yao Ling home. The Four-Star Dou Sheng nearly kills Fan Tian, who survives only because Yao Ling shields him and threatens suicide. Fan Tian’s recovery is accompanied by a lasting grievance against Wangui and the ancient clans’ bloodline hierarchy 12 14 30.
Establishing the Heavenly Mansion
With the Central Plains engulfed in war, Fan Tian escapes alongside Cao Ying and Dan Chen and instructs Sound Valley to remain sealed. He reaches Black Seal City, destroys the Eight Gates’ protective formation, and compels Yuan Yi to submit 23 24.
He establishes the Heavenly Mansion Alliance using pills to attract cultivators and force to punish exploitation. Within a month, it recruits three Dou Emperors and eight Dou Kings. His longer-term objective is a regional power base from which to approach Jia Nan Academy and the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor’s Cave 25 28.
Fan Tian encourages Han Feng to exploit the Inner Academy’s weak defenses, then waits for the resulting Black Alliance–academy war to create an opportunity. Meanwhile, he rescues Zi Yan, secures the academy’s relinquishment of its claim to her, and absorbs the Mad Lion Gang, Heavenly Yin Sect, and Rakshasa Gate 35 40 44.
Defeating Han Feng and the Academy Elders
After Han Feng defeats Su Qian, Fan Tian leads the Heavenly Mansion against the Black Alliance. He overwhelms Han Feng, swallows his two-colored Fire Lotus, kills the Gold and Silver Elders, and orders the alliance dissolved. Heavenly Mansion forces occupy Maple City and its subordinate cities 47 48 49.
He subsequently kills Han Feng and gives the Sea Heart Flame to Dan Chen and the Fallen Heart Flame to Cao Ying as betrothal gifts. His choice for Dan Chen is intended to address the vitality loss caused by her unusual soul constitution 45 49.
Jia Nan Academy’s Thousand and Hundred Elders later demand the Fallen Heart Flame. Fan Tian fights both while concealing his devouring abilities, but their combined Dou Zun-level attack injures Zi Yan when she shields him. Cao Ying summons Xuan Yi, who defeats the elders 59 60.
Following the deaths of the academy’s senior elders, Su Qian and Hu Gan dissolve its new sect and surrender the Inner Academy’s territory. Fan Tian turns it into the Heavenly Mansion’s headquarters, then consumes the defeated elders’ power and reaches Peak Dou Zong 63 66.
Jia Ma Empire and the Tagor Desert
Fan Tian travels to the Jia Ma Empire with Zi Yan. He takes Qing Lin into his service, removes Hai Bodong’s seal in exchange for a map fragment, and accepts the restored Ice Emperor as a follower 66 69 70.
In the desert, his clash with Gu Xun’er forces him to expose a Six-Star Dou Zun combat state. Yao Ling intervenes when Xun’er attempts to kill him and his companions. During his subsequent stay at the Snake-People Temple, he obtains the Yao Clan’s Ancient Jade and examines the rings taken from Xiao Yan and Yao Chen 101 107 113.
His influence spreads into the empire’s leadership. Jia Xingtian and Fa Ma pledge allegiance, and Fan Tian removes hidden golden flames from the pills that enabled their breakthroughs. He also intervenes around the Three-Year Agreement, intending to prevent Xiao Yan from obtaining an effortless victory over Nalan Yanran 129 131 136.
Misty Cloud Sect and the Dou Zun Breakthrough
At the Misty Cloud Sect, Fan Tian again fights Gu Xun’er, consuming her flames and draining the strength supplied by her divine-grade bloodline. Yao Ling captures Xiao Yan to restrict Xun’er’s actions, but the arrival of the Hall of Souls interrupts Fan Tian’s attempt to subdue her 148 149 150.
Fan Tian draws thirteen Dou Zong Protectors into a deserted wasteland and devours them. He then returns against Qing Hai and Qin Tian after they incapacitate Yao Ling and Gu Xun’er, absorbs their attacks, and consumes both Venerables 151 153.
Their accumulated energy enables his permanent breakthrough to Peak One-Star Dou Zun. He leaves with the unconscious Yao Ling and Gu Xun’er, possessively treating them as his spoils rather than simply rescued allies 153.
Appearance
Fan Tian is described as a handsome young man, with his looks and exceptional cultivation drawing Yao Ling’s interest 2 6.
- Early Spirit Devouring state: Blood-red eyes, dark-purple patterns across his face and skin, and moving black devouring markings 5.
- Later Spirit Devouring state: Purple-gold markings spread from his brow across his body; his eyes turn purple-gold, with black-hole-like shapes within the pupils 153.
- Physique: The Tunling Clan origin progressively transforms his body and produces exceptionally dense Dou Qi 59 107.
Personality
Fan Tian is calculating, ambitious, and strongly motivated by survival. He evaluates rewards and opponents in terms of risk, usefulness, and the danger of attracting stronger factions. Even when capable of winning, he often conceals Spirit Devouring to avoid exposing himself to the ancient clans 1 59 101.
His caution coexists with deliberate provocation and a fierce appetite for combat. He insults Ling Feng’s party after apparently withdrawing, challenges stronger opponents, and becomes increasingly aggressive during life-and-death fighting. He resents Xiao Yan’s advantages and explicitly seeks to appropriate his opportunities 3 4 11 129.
As a leader, he combines material rewards with intimidation. Loyal followers receive valuable pills, while a faction that tries to exploit him is destroyed and its leader’s corpse displayed at Black Seal City’s gates 28.
His generosity and protectiveness are selective. He comforts Zi Yan’s fear of abandonment and seeks treatment for Dan Chen’s failing vitality, yet also treats people as possessions. His control over Yun Yun includes confinement, humiliation, and threats against the Misty Cloud Sect; his protection of others therefore does not imply respect for their autonomy 45 89 153.
Abilities & Skills
Spirit Devouring
Spirit Devouring derives from the system-granted Tunling Clan origin. It allows Fan Tian to turn opponents’ energy and inherited advantages into resources for himself 1 5.
- Comprehensive consumption: Drains Dou Qi, blood essence, vitality, souls, and Dou Di bloodlines 5 151 153.
- Knowledge acquisition: Absorbs memories, cultivation methods, combat skills, and cultivation insights from victims 5.
- Attack absorption: Swallows Han Feng’s Fire Lotus, Gu Xun’er’s flames, and the coordinated techniques of two Dou Zun Venerables 49 148 153.
- Bloodline suppression: Causes ancient-clan bloodlines to tremble and disrupts the power they supply. Gu Xun’er’s enhanced strength falls sharply under its influence 5 148 149.
- Cultivation acceleration: Consumed energy drives several of his documented breakthroughs 5 66 153.
- Replenishment requirement: Its heightened combat state consumes resources that he must replace through further devouring 151.
- Exposure risk: He repeatedly limits its use because surviving witnesses could alert the Gu Clan or other ancient powers 59 101.
Spatial Suppression
Fan Tian can consume surrounding space or immobilize it, preventing opponents from relying on spatial escape and reinforcements 5 6 153.
- Neutralizes Ling Feng’s Spatial Jade Slips, including those linked to Dou Sheng experts 6.
- Blocks the Hall of Souls Venerables’ spatial techniques during their final confrontation 153.
- Initially cannot maintain the suppression for long; sufficiently powerful opponents can break free 5.
Regeneration and Seal Removal
His spirit-devouring origin repairs injuries and can consume foreign powers inside a body 14 70.
- Rapidly heals injuries after consuming the Spirit Clan fighters 5.
- Restores his body following Yao Wangui’s crushing attack 14.
- Uses Gu Xun’er’s blood to recover from a shoulder wound 101.
- Removes Queen Medusa’s seal from Hai Bodong without a Breaking-Evil Pill 70.

Enhanced Body and Dou Qi
The Tunling Clan origin strengthens Fan Tian’s physique and compresses his Dou Qi beyond what his nominal cultivation suggests 59.
- Contends with two Peak Dou Zong elders while only an Eight-Star Dou Zong 59.
- Fights Gu Xun’er at close range using fully committed punches and vital-point strikes 100 101.
- Does not make him immune to Heavenly Flames: the Golden Emperor Burning Heaven Flame penetrates his meridians during their first close-range exchange 100.
