Previous Life Remembered by Xiao Wu

Xiao Wu followed Tang San to Shrek Academy at twelve and met Shi Meng there. Although she initially found him cold and unapproachable, his actions revealed a gentler character: he helped strangers, defended vulnerable Soul Beasts, overlooked her stealing carrots, and covered her ears during thunderstorms. His refusal to treat Soul Beasts as inferior helped her fall in love with him 13.

At the tournament finals, she discovered that Shi Meng was Spirit Hall’s Holy Son. When her own Soul Beast identity was exposed and Spirit Hall moved to capture her, he stood in her defense, willing to abandon his position and oppose the organization. Xiao Wu prepared to sacrifice herself to save him, but Bibi Dong instead permitted her to remain in Spirit Hall alongside him 13.

That apparent reprieve ended when Tang San attacked Shi Meng from behind and killed him. Xiao Wu believed Tang San and Tang Hao intended to turn her into Tang San’s Soul Ring. Unwilling to survive Shi Meng, she unleashed her power in a self-destructive attempt to take both of them with her. Her final wish was to protect Shi Meng in another life rather than become Tang San’s sister again 14.

That devotion does not erase her caution. She delays approaching Spirit Hall because Shi Meng does not yet know her and because Tang Hao’s surveillance makes unusual behavior dangerous 14.

Her hatred of Tang San is immediate and violent, but she can restrain herself when vengeance threatens her survival. After repeatedly slamming him into the floor, she stops rather than risk the consequences of killing him 13.
