Background / History

Yugito grew up ostracized in Kumogakure because she was a jinchūriki. Her slit-pupiled eyes became associated with the rejection she endured. According to her account, only the Raikage and his younger brother, Killer B, treated her kindly. She found the contrast particularly painful because Killer B, the Eight-Tails’ host, was praised while she was shunned 25 26.

An earlier attempt at dating also ended cruelly: after an outing, the boy boasted to his friends while insulting her as a demon. She later shared this experience with Naruto, whose own childhood rejection helped him understand her loneliness 26.
