Although the Flame-Chasers had all accepted the fact that the Previous Era had failed, how could they not be delighted at the chance to live through one more day and correct their past mistakes?

"Congratulations, Sister Elysia. Congratulations, Sister Elysia."

Pardofelis chimed in from the side.

Death Space was great in every way, except that it was a little too boring. The surroundings were completely empty.

If someone like Pardofelis, who loved running around everywhere, had to stay here for too long, she would definitely go mad from frustration.

Now that she knew answering questions correctly would let her go back and stir up trouble, Pardofelis felt as though she had seen a glimmer of dawn in a dark, empty life.

Raiden Mei: "Elysia, why are you so certain that you'll be the first one to come out and help me?"

Elysia: "Of course, it's because I'm warm and hospitable. The other Flame-Chasers are either cold as ice or act like they don't want strangers anywhere near them. I'm the only one who'd be the first to approach Mei and offer help."

Raiden Mei: "Thank you."

Though she was curious about what kind of personalities the other Thirteen Flame-Chasers had, Mei felt much more at ease knowing that at least one person was willing to help her.

It seemed that this Elysia was a truly wonderful person!

Mei slowly opened her eyes onscreen.

Before her stood a rather strange structure. Rubble and broken walls spiraled upward around a tower, interweaving into a grid as a pink aura rushed toward her, making it seem as though she were the center of the world.

Kiana: "So this is the Previous Era Elysian Realm. It looks like a maze, and the architecture is incredibly unique. It's completely different from the buildings we usually know."

Elysia: "Of course. This is the Previous Era Elysian Realm we carefully created. We also mixed in a few dreamlike elements, so it's only natural that it would differ greatly from the architecture of your civilization."

Pardofelis: "Hehe, the Previous Era Elysian Realm was built pretty well. It has everything. I almost want to sneak in and swipe a few things."

Eden: "Pardofelis, if you go in there, you might run into Mobius's Memory Body."

Pardofelis: "Sister Snake... then forget it. I don't want to be treated as a lab rat and put on an operating table."

Sigh.

Pardofelis let out a soft sigh.

She did not know whether her Memory Body would be caught by Sister Snake. If she were caught, all Pardofelis could do was pray that she would be all right.

Back in Fire Moth, Mobius had shown interest in her more than once. She only hoped that the Memory Body in the Previous Era Elysian Realm would not catch Sister Snake's attention.

And even if she got caught, a Memory Body probably would not die, right...?

Raiden Mei: "Hey, hey, hey! Wait a second, Pardofelis, did you just say something really alarming?!"

Mei was so frightened that she nearly failed to hold onto the pots, bowls, and ladles in her hands.

What the heck?

Mobius? Research? Operating table?

Why did it feel like her situation was not looking too good? Couldn't the Previous Era Elysian Realm have a few more normal people?

This was making Mei panic!

Elysia: "Don't worry, Mei. Mobius just likes playing pranks. And with me here, she won't be able to do anything to you."

Raiden Mei: "Really?"

Kiana: "It's hard for me to feel reassured by that. Mei, you absolutely must not go to that Previous Era Elysian Realm!"

The Previous Era Elysian Realm was far too dangerous. If Mei got hurt, Kiana would be heartbroken to death.

Fortunately, Elysia was there to protect her, which finally made her breathe a sigh of relief.

Kiana suddenly felt that the Pink Fairy, who loved making jokes, was not quite so annoying.

Anyone willing to protect Mei had to be a wonderful person!

Mei suddenly heard a voice onscreen. It sounded as though it were whispering by her ear, yet also as though it came from a very distant place.

It was as pleasant as a fairy's voice, impossible to grasp.

"How does it feel? It must seem very avant-garde to you, but in my era, this was merely an ordinary residence, something you could find everywhere along the road."

The voice came again, and this time Mei heard it clearly.

"Remember this: this is your first attempt, so don't burden yourself mentally. There will be no punishment for failure, and no one will blame you if you perform poorly. Don't worry, I'll always be by your side."

That fairy-like voice continued to ring in her ears, urging her to try exploring this region of the Previous Era.

"In short, just follow your heart and explore to your heart's content. I'm also looking forward to seeing how far you can go without the help of any other Flame-Chasers."

The speaker was not by her side, yet Mei could hear the other person's voice with perfect clarity.

Though she was deeply curious about it, Mei quickly recognized her situation.

"I roughly understand the situation, but who are you?" Mei asked the voice.

"Are you joking? I introduced myself just a few minutes ago. Honestly, are you deliberately teasing me? How could you do that to a girl you've only just met?"

The other party sounded somewhat surprised, but there was not the slightest hint of anger in her voice.

"You have such a cute face, yet your mind is unexpectedly mischievous."

"I have no more questions."

Raiden Mei gave up on trying to communicate with her and replied coldly.

"Good. Then without further delay, shall we set off now? I will bestow my blessing upon you, and your soul shall bloom with an even more dazzling light."

As the woman's voice faded, Mei began exploring ahead. Powerful lightning erupted from her body, fully revealing the bearing of a Herrscher.

Wherever the lightning reached, anything that stood in her way was reduced to ashes.

Himeko Murata: "Is that Mei? Mei is actually this strong—and she can even control the Herrscher's power?"

Pardofelis: "The Herrscher of Thunder?"

Everyone from St. Freya Academy was astonished by the powerful strength Mei displayed.

The lightning tore through the skies. Her unstoppable stance as she commanded thunder and lightning was clearly not that of a weak Herrscher who had only just awakened.

She was a powerful Herrscher who had already begun to grasp the Authority of Thunder, shattering darkness with lightning.

None of them had expected that Mei would one day become a true Herrscher. The people from the academy were left with complicated feelings.

Among them, Theresa and Himeko Murata were the most troubled.

They had thought that by studying at the academy, Mei could slowly suppress the Herrscher personality and gradually break free of the Herrscher Core. Yet in the end, Mei would still become a Herrscher.

Mei herself was also somewhat worried.

She feared that, after becoming a Herrscher, she would be like those recorded in the books—destroying humanity, bringing disaster, and even hurting Kiana and the others.

And from the looks of it, she had become a Herrscher of her own accord.

Raiden Mei: "Didn't they say Herrschers are Honkai's emissaries, that they destroy everything? Then I..."

Himeko Murata: "Don't worry, Mei. Look, haven't you already taken control of the Herrscher's power in the footage? You aren't being controlled by the Herrscher. You are the one controlling the Herrscher."

Kiana: "Teacher Himeko is right. Don't worry, Mei. Even if you become a Herrscher, you'll still be my most important Mei."

Himeko jumped up and wrapped her arms around Mei's waist, rubbing her head against her back.

Mei shuddered, then subconsciously touched the top of her head. She somehow felt as though someone had their eyes on her.

Elysia: "It must be an illusion. Those hateful Honkai Beasts in the footage must have frightened Mei, causing a subconscious illusion."

Kiana: "Elysia's right, it must be an illusion! Mei, you're worrying too much. With Elysia protecting you, nothing can happen."

Himeko thought Elysia was truly wonderful.

Not only had she enthusiastically pointed Mei in the right direction, but she was also willing to protect important Mei unconditionally.

Elysia really was such a good person!

Raiden Mei continued onward through the scene, witnessing the sights of the Previous Era—the appearance of that age which had already been destroyed.

She swung the weapon in her hand as thunder rumbled without end, effortlessly breaking down and crushing the Honkai Beasts.

Only after slaying the last monster did Mei finally find a teleportation point. Beyond the door stood unfamiliar buildings and a room filled with girlish charm.

"Mm..."

Mei entered the room. The battle just now had left her somewhat unaccustomed.

"My, it seems you're not in very good shape. It's alright, everyone is like this at first. You'll gradually get used to it. Relax, take it one step at a time. Do you remember where this is?"

A familiar voice reached Mei's ears. She slowly raised her head, and a pink fairy-like girl appeared in her sight.

Theresa: "End... End-of-Era?"

The Judgement Breaker's mind immediately went blank.

Second among the Flame-Chasers—just hearing that sounded incredible.

Though Theresa believed that, with Judgement Breaker in hand, she was no pushover and could barely be considered equal to an ordinary Flame-Chaser, after thinking it over, she still felt that she fell somewhat short of the second-ranked one.

It seemed there was still the tiniest little gap in her strength!

Kiana: "As expected of a Flame-Chaser—she's cute and ridiculously strong. That title even sounds cooler than Strongest Valkyrie of Schicksal."

Bronya: "Idiot Kiana, don't tell Bronya you're thinking of becoming the strongest, first-ranked Flame-Chaser?"
