Background / History

Tang Hao’s wife, Ah Yin, was the Blue Silver Emperor, a hundred-thousand-year soul beast who had taken human form. During the events surrounding Spirit Hall’s pursuit of them, Tang Hao obtained her hundred-thousand-year soul ring and soul bone. The pursuit also caused the Clear Sky Sect to withdraw from the world 24 25.

Afterward, he confined Ah Yin in a cave without sunlight. He later defended this as necessary to keep her alive and prevent her revival from attracting Spirit Hall’s attention, explicitly placing Tang San’s safety among his chief concerns 26.

Spirit Hall regards Tang Hao as the murderer of its previous pope. This makes him a fugitive and a target of Qian Daoliu, whose demand for the return of his own son directly challenges Tang Hao’s demand to recover Ah Yin 25 26.

Personality

Tang Hao’s grief for Ah Yin remains intense. While watching Tang San obtain his first soul ring, he tearfully expresses how much he misses her, hopes their son will avenge her, and decides to get drunk 2.

His concern for his family is accompanied by controlling and exploitative behavior. He leaves Xiao Wu near Tang San because he expects her eventually to provide his son with a hundred-thousand-year soul ring and soul bone. Once their relationship deteriorates, he threatens her rather than respecting her decision to distance herself 24.

He initially treats Su Bai with contempt, assuming a young Soul Ancestor cannot compete with his soul power. The revelation of Ah Yin’s connection to Su Bai turns his shock and grief into murderous rage. Nevertheless, he retreats immediately when Qian Daoliu appears 25 26 27.
