After surviving the Blazing Fire Peak raid and further attacks, he returned to the Violet Sun Gate under the nickname Blazing Blade Swordsman, then left in disguise for the Black Market.

Xu Yang advanced through the marrow-cleansing realm while eliminating enemies who tried to kill him and helping Xu Qing settle into the Violet Sun Gate. After Jiang Ping’s death, Xu Yang registered for the Outer Sect Grand Competition, which began with the disciples drawing lots.

• Xu Yang killed Yan Qingqiu and the Green Snake Gang, shared their spoils with Qiu Wenjie, and gave Zhou Shunchang money and martial arts manuals.
• Xu Yang killed Ji Yun, helped Xu Qing achieve Dragon Ascension, then killed Li Qiang and Gu Haoming when they ambushed him on the road.
• Xu Yang reached Astral Qi Mastery, rejected the Ding Family’s marriage alliance, and began practicing the Mountain-Bearing Bear King Palm while Su Qiming and Su Jie sought revenge.
• Xu Yang killed Su Jie and Su Qiming, then killed Tian Jing after learning he had warned Su Qiming about Xu Yang.
• Xu Yang stayed out of the Outer Sect Grand Competition while Li Chuyang won it, and he later welcomed Xu Qing and the other new disciples to the Violet Sun Gate.

Xu Yang won the tournament, destroyed the Su Family, and joined Blazing Fire Peak, where he began studying weapon forging. When the Blood Lotus Cult attacked Earthvein Fire Valley, Xu Yang survived and killed two powerful enemies, but the sect’s suspicions and the cult’s interest in him remained.

• Xu Yang placed third in the tournament, defeated Xie Zhan and Lu Ren, and began cultivating the Blood Prison Heart Saber Scripture after advancing to minor marrow cleansing.
• Xu Yang killed Su Jiangong, Su Jianye, Su Zhe, Su Man, and Su Xiuyuan, burned the Su Family estate, and took its treasures and weapons.
• Xu Yang joined Elder Firecloud at Blazing Fire Peak, studied forging and the Blood Prison Heart Saber Scripture, and gave Xu Qing the semi-spirit weapon Starshine.
