The elevator doors slowly closed.
Wing stood at the far end of the corridor.
He pushed up his slipping black-framed glasses.
Hisoka sat in the middle of the corridor, while the three boys stood frozen in place.
The atmosphere was ice-cold.
Wing asked no questions.
He looked at Hisoka.
Playing cards fluttered through Hisoka's hands.
The shuffling made crisp sounds.
He said nothing.
Nor did he show any intention of moving aside.
Wing sighed.
"Come back."
He beckoned to Gon and the others.
"You can't get past him as you are now."
Killua gritted his teeth, sweat covering his forehead.
Kurapika pressed his hand firmly against his wooden sword, his knuckles white.
They hated backing down.
But every instinct screamed a warning: one more step forward, and they really would die.
Luo Ye slowly rose from where he sat on the floor.
He brushed the dust off his pants.
"All right, let's head back."
Luo Ye tugged at Gon's shirt.
"Old Hisoka's having a midnight meltdown. Let's not stoop to his level."
The three finally followed Wing back into the elevator.
Wing's room, on the 190th floor.
The door had barely closed.
Killua fixed his eyes on Wing.
"Old man."
Killua's voice was cold.
"What exactly was that stuff coming off him?"
Kurapika came over too.
"All that talk about spiritual discipline-focus, tongue, temper, and release."
"You were just lying to us, weren't you?"
Wing pulled over a chair and sat down.
Zushi stood obediently to one side.
"I'm sorry."
Wing lowered his head.
"I did lie."
He raised his head, his gaze turning utterly serious.
His usual weary demeanor was gone.
"That power is called Nen."
"It's the ability to control life energy."
Wing began explaining the real rules.
He held nothing back.
The true Four Major Principles.
Ten.
