The four people at the very pinnacle of power in Konoha had gathered here yet again. The same table, the same people.
The Five Kage Summit was tomorrow, but Orochimaru still showed no intention of handing over Chihane. Hiruzen Sarutobi had therefore summoned them all to discuss what they should do.
"Danzo, you handled this very well, but the Five Kage Summit is tomorrow, and Orochimaru still refuses to hand over Chihane Hatake. It seems your plan failed after all."
Utatane Koharu folded her arms across her chest and questioned Danzo, who sat beside her.
"Hmph! Quite the opposite. My plan has already succeeded. You should go outside and see whether anyone in the village still supports Orochimaru becoming Hokage."
Danzo dismissed Utatane Koharu's words. He had never expected Orochimaru to hand over Chihane in the first place. He had known from the start that it was impossible.
His target from the very beginning had been Orochimaru, the man backing Chihane.
"But the Five Kage Summit is tomorrow. If we can't hand over Chihane Hatake, those three villages will join forces and declare war on Konoha."
"And now we've completely fallen out with Orochimaru. With our strength alone, we have no way of fighting the Three Great Shinobi Villages at once."
Utatane Koharu sounded conflicted. She was already regretting her decision to support Danzo's proposal to surrender Chihane, which had led to this mess.
"Hmph! They don't have the strength to attack Konoha now. Chihane Hatake has crippled all three of their villages. If they still had the strength, they would have attacked already. Why would they demand that we hand him over?"
