Chapter Summaries

Lin Yi traded rice to Zhou Haitao for the Beast Convoy’s Amplifying Megaphone, which Liu Chuan received. After Lin Yi encouraged unhappy members of the Survival Rules Convoy to leave, more than five hundred people chose to join Zhou Haitao’s Beast Convoy.

• Zhou Haitao offered to trade the anomalous Amplifying Megaphone, and Liu Chuan negotiated over supplies.
• Lin Yi offered two bags of rice for the megaphone, and Zhou Haitao accepted the deal.
• Liu Chuan received the Amplifying Megaphone, whose power increased projected volume fivefold at the cost of one hair per use.
• Zhou Haitao invited members of the Survival Rules Convoy to join his Beast Convoy, and Liu Chuan said he would not stop anyone from leaving.
• Lin Yi urged the women and other dissatisfied members to consider leaving, and more than five hundred people stepped forward to join Zhou Haitao.

After Zhou Haitao led more than six hundred people away, Ji Qingcang and Lin Yi explained why the convoy was safer with fewer, more loyal members. Ji Qingcang then described three ways to advance a Sequence and revealed how a [Watcher] could become a [Prophet].

• Zhou Haitao left the rest stop with more than six hundred people, leaving only 172 people in the Survival Rules Convoy.
• Ji Qingcang and Lin Yi told Liu Chuan that the smaller convoy would be safer and urged him to focus on those who trusted him.

• Ji Qingcang said a [Watcher] advanced to [Prophet] by watching other people repeatedly, while Lin Yi's [Criminal] Sequence might require committing crimes.

Lin Yi failed to use [Enhancement] on his [Criminal] Sequence, while Liu Chuan agreed to try advancing his [Watcher] Sequence by secretly observing people. The convoy left the service area and began traveling north toward Cloudpan City through the relentless rain.

• Lin Yi tried to [Enhance] his [Criminal] Sequence but got no response, and he urged Liu Chuan to try peeping to advance his [Watcher] Sequence.
• Liu Chuan arranged overnight watches and took the final shift so he could secretly test the method, while the group rested without another encounter with the Rain Man.
• The next morning, Liu Chuan woke the convoy, told everyone they would drive to Cloudpan City without stopping for supplies, and encouraged them to share cars and driving duties.
• As the convoy prepared to leave, Wang Gui noticed Liu Chuan watching the other survivors through the rearview mirror, and Lin Yi worried that the rain could trigger disasters in the mountains.
• Liu Chuan ordered the Survival Rules Convoy to move out, and the vehicles began migrating north.

The Survival Rules Convoy reached the outskirts of Cloudpan City and discovered it submerged beneath muddy floodwater, with Aberrations moving beneath the surface and an enormous black shadow beside the mountains. After fleeing the rising flood, the convoy stopped to rest, but fast-moving Aberrations soon appeared on a distant mountainside and forced them to prepare to leave again.

• The convoy reached Cloudpan City and saw that landslides and floodwater had buried most of the city.
• Lin Yi and Liu Chuan spotted Aberrations swimming through the muddy water and a massive black shadow emerging near the mountains.
• Liu Chuan ordered the convoy to flee as floodwater rushed down toward the highway.
• After the convoy escaped, Lin Yi, Ji Qingcang, and Liu Chuan discussed the enormous Aberration and the dangers ahead.
• Liu Chuan sensed Aberrations catching up and ordered everyone into their vehicles as a yellow mass flowed down a distant mountainside.

Lin Yi and Liu Chuan discovered that twenty-nine people had mysteriously joined the convoy after it escaped a yellow mud Aberration. Ji Qingcang learned about the intruders, but the convoy still could not identify them or determine how they had arrived.

• A yellow mud Aberration swept up a fuel-depleted Wuling Hongguang and its four occupants while the convoy fled.
• Liu Chuan led the convoy to stop for the night and refuel after confirming the Aberration had fallen behind.
• Lin Yi noticed the convoy’s head count had risen to two hundred, despite only 171 people remaining after the four occupants were lost.
• Liu Chuan also counted two hundred people and told Ji Qingcang that twenty-nine unknown people had infiltrated the convoy.
• Ji Qingcang confirmed the head count was wrong and asked whether Lin Yi had been the first to notice, while the identity of the extra people remained unknown.

Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang discovered that a white fog concealed a deadly stretch of highway and made the convoy believe that twenty-nine extra people belonged with them. After Lin Yi revealed the illusion, the three escaped vehicles stopped beside the people who had created the fog to rob passing convoys.

• Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang noticed twenty-nine people in the convoy whom they had never seen before, though everyone insisted the group was complete.
• Lin Yi warned that the Yellow-Mud Aberration was closing in and had Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang touch the Soul-Devouring Saw, revealing the fog-shrouded highway and the Aberration nearby.
• Liu Chuan ordered the convoy to leave, but the vehicles at the rear refused, so Lin Yi drove off with Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang.

Lin Yi and the Survival Rules Convoy escaped the white fog and confronted the women of the Queen Convoy, who had been robbing travelers. Lin Yi killed their leader and the fat woman, then slaughtered the rest, ending the chapter drenched in blood.

• The Survival Rules Convoy emerged from the white fog and found the Queen Convoy waiting with stolen supplies.
• Liu Chuan confronted the Queen Convoy, and the fat woman mocked him and insulted Lin Yi.
• Lin Yi attacked the fat woman with the enhanced Soul-Devouring Saw as the woman in sunglasses used her [Suppression] ability to envelop him in white mist.
• Lin Yi's Weird Object Weapon cut through the fat woman's chair and killed her, while Ji Qingcang transformed into a great white bear and crushed the woman in sunglasses.
• Lin Yi explained that the weapon's properties had resisted [Suppression], then killed the woman in sunglasses and slaughtered the remaining Queen Convoy members.

After Lin Yi killed the Queen Convoy, the survivors took shelter at the convoy’s outpost and learned from a diary that its members had preyed on travelers. Lin Yi’s increasingly ruthless nature left his companions uneasy as they settled in.

• Lin Yi killed the Queen Convoy members while the Yellow-Mud Aberration engulfed the people who had stayed behind.
• Lin Yi, Liu Chuan, and Ji Qingcang led the surviving twenty-five convoy members into the Queen Convoy’s rain shelters and claimed its supplies.

After defeating the Queen Convoy, Liu Chuan’s group searched its supplies and discovered Ghost Shadow Hide and an Anomalous Object called the Passive Gourd. Liu Chuan decided he might use the gourd despite its drastic effects, leaving Lin Yi and Ji Qingcang wary of what that choice could mean.

• Liu Chuan ordered Wang Gui to move their supplies into Zhao Xiaotong’s black Land Rover, which would become their new vehicle.
• Liu Chuan, Lin Yi, and Ji Qingcang opened two silver briefcases and found Ghost Shadow Hide, material used to craft Anomalous Objects.

The Survival Rules Convoy entered Guizhou Province and stopped at a rest area, where Liu Chuan met Wang Xufei, leader of the Hope Convoy. Wang Xufei revealed that an Aberration had been watching both convoys since they arrived.

• The Survival Rules Convoy set out in ten cars, and Liu Chuan used the Passive Gourd to spy on the other members as they traveled.
• After entering Guizhou Province, the convoy followed the expressway and avoided Aberations with Liu Chuan's warnings.
• At a rest area filled with more than fifty cars, Liu Chuan, Lin Yi, and Ji Qingcang met Wang Xufei and members of the Hope Convoy.
• Wang Xufei explained that Wang Meng had joined the Hope Convoy after the Queen Convoy ambushed his Fitness Convoy.
• Wang Xufei told Liu Chuan that an Aberration had been watching the Hope Convoy since it arrived and had now noticed the Survival Rules Convoy too.

Liu Chuan and the Survival Rules Convoy tried to leave the service area after Wang Xufei warned that an undetectable Aberration had trapped the Hope Convoy there. They drove straight out but inexplicably returned to the service area, where Liu Chuan and Lin Yi began preparing for a dangerous night.

• Wang Xufei told Liu Chuan, Lin Yi, and Ji Qingcang that the Hope Convoy had been trapped at the service area for three days and had lost more than ten people to unexplained nighttime disappearances.
• Liu Chuan, Lin Yi, and Ji Qingcang decided to test whether they could drive away, and Liu Chuan led the Survival Rules Convoy out of the service area.
• Wang Meng recognized the Survival Rules Convoy’s vehicles as belonging to the Queen Convoy and warned Wang Xufei that Lin Yi was dangerous.
• Liu Chuan used the Passive Gourd to survey the route, but the convoy drove straight ahead and somehow arrived back at the service area.
• Ji Qingcang encouraged Liu Chuan, while Lin Yi told the convoy to set up rain shelters, keep away from the Hope Convoy, and stay alert that night.

Lin Yi realized the service station trapped everyone inside, while the Hope Convoy struggled with dwindling food and Wang Xufei’s deference to Minister Qian. Shen Qingqing, Shen Chuchu, and Wang Meng left to seek a better chance with the Survival Rules Convoy, leaving Wang Xufei behind.

• Lin Yi watched Liu Chuan repeatedly drive out of and back into the service station, concluding that an unknown force or rule prevented anyone from leaving.
• Lin Yi told Liu Chuan to eat first and wait to see what happened that night as the Survival Rules Convoy prepared a meal.
• Wang Xufei and the other Sequence Transcendents discussed watching for disappearances, while Shen Qingqing confronted him about the Hope Convoy running out of food.
• Minister Qian demanded a large meal despite the shortage, and Shen Qingqing kicked him before denouncing both him and Wang Xufei.

The Survival Rules Convoy accepted Shen Qingqing, Shen Chuchu, and Wang Meng after they left the Hope Convoy. Liu Chuan explained the convoy’s rules and introduced its members, and the chapter ended with the newcomers joining everyone for a meal.

• Lin Yi and Ji Qingcang reacted warily when Liu Chuan approached, then left him to speak with the newcomers.

• The Hope Convoy’s people complained that Wang Xufei had given them only a tiny piece of chocolate each, while Minister Qian had received more.
• After someone spotted the Survival Rules Convoy eating meat and rice, Minister Qian ordered Wang Xufei to demand a bowl for him.
• Wang Xufei joined the crowd as Hope Convoy members rushed toward the rain shelter, prompting the cooks to cover the food and the others to block their way.
• Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang confronted the crowd, and Liu Chuan used his Loudspeaker to stop them from advancing.
• Wang Xufei argued that the Survival Rules Convoy should share its food fairly, and Shen Qingqiu cursed him and criticized the Hope Convoy’s rules.

Lin Yi killed a Hope Convoy member who tried to take his food and drove the convoy back with threats. Shen Qingqing and the others were shaken by his ruthlessness as the survivors explained that killing would become necessary in the apocalypse.

• Shen Qingqing confronted Wang Xufei and accused him of giving away her supplies while forcing her and her sister to protect his convoy.
• A woman from the Hope Convoy demanded food and challenged Shen Qingqing to kill her, while other convoy members crowded forward to grab supplies.
• Lin Yi killed the woman with a kitchen knife and threatened the Hope Convoy until its members retreated.
• Lin Yi warned Wang Xufei not to bother them again, then returned to eat and left Shen Qingqing, Shen Chuchu, and Wang Meng stunned.
• Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang told the newcomers they would need to get used to killing and described Lin Yi as suited to surviving the apocalypse.

Liu Chuan's convoy discussed why they could not leave the service area and prepared to keep watch for an Aberration. Shen Qingqing and Shen Chuchu hardened their resolve to survive, leaving Lin Yi curious about Wang Meng's [Giant] Sequence ability.

• Lin Yi proposed that an Aberration's rule or the service area itself was trapping everyone, and Liu Chuan told the convoy to rest before keeping watch all night.
• Wang Meng parked his supply-filled van beside the Survival Rules Convoy and went to sleep in its furnished cargo compartment.
• Shen Qingqing sharpened her sword and went to the dumped corpse, but hesitated to strike it.
• Shen Chuchu hacked at the corpse and offered to protect Shen Qingqing, who joined her in mutilating it.
• Liu Chuan and Ji Qingcang let the sisters continue, while Lin Yi decided they would make two more fighters for the convoy and wondered about Wang Meng's ability.

Liu Chuan spotted an invisible Aberration inside the Hope Convoy, and Lin Yi rushed in to investigate. They traced it to a patch of transparent liquid near Wang Xufei, Minister Qian, and his woman, leaving those three as suspects as Lin Yi asked the others where the Aberration had appeared before.

• Liu Chuan saw a transparent figure behind Wang Xufei through the Passive Gourd and alerted Lin Yi.
• Lin Yi charged into the service building with the Soul-Devouring Saw, but the invisible Aberration vanished before he could find it.
• Liu Chuan found thick transparent liquid at Lin Yi’s feet, and Lin Yi concluded the Aberration had appeared near Wang Xufei, Minister Qian, or his woman.
• Lin Yi ruled out Wang Meng, Shen Qingqing, and Shen Chuchu, then asked them where the Aberration had appeared during earlier nights.

Lin Yi narrowed the Aberration suspects to Minister Qian and his girlfriend, then killed Minister Qian and exposed the woman as someone in symbiosis with an Aberration. She trapped the people in the service station with her Hunting Domain and prepared to devour them.

• Lin Yi and Liu Chuan questioned Wang Meng and the Shen sisters, ruling out Wang Xufei and focusing their suspicions on Minister Qian and his girlfriend.
• Lin Yi confronted Minister Qian and his girlfriend at the service station and killed Minister Qian with the Soul-Devouring Saw.
• Lin Yi realized Minister Qian was not the Aberration, but a tentacle from beneath his girlfriend’s skirt seized Lin Yi and lifted him into the air.
• The woman revealed that she had gained a Transcendent Ability called Hunting Domain through symbiosis with an Aberration and intended to eat everyone trapped inside it.

Lin Yi discovered that the woman trapping them was symbiotic with an Aberration and needed help fighting her. As Lin Yi, Liu Chuan, and the others attacked and rescued captives, Wang Meng launched Liu Chuan at the transparent Aberration.

• Lin Yi cut himself free from the woman's tentacle, but she ate a captive and grew stronger before knocking him through the service station's glass.
• Lin Yi told Liu Chuan and the others that the woman was bonded with an Aberration and urged them to stop her from eating anyone else.
• Liu Chuan volunteered to be thrown at the Aberration, while Shen Qingqing went to turn the convoy's headlights toward the service station and Shen Chuchu charged into battle.
• Lin Yi and Shen Chuchu attacked from opposite sides, cutting tentacles and rescuing captives as the woman tried to escape and eat more people.
• Wang Meng grew to about four meters tall and hurled Liu Chuan toward the transparent Aberration.

Lin Yi and his companions fought the female Aberration, and Wang Meng’s [Giant] Sequence helped them overpower and kill her. The group survived the battle, but Liu Chuan remained trapped in tentacles with his Passive Gourd blocked.

• Wang Meng’s giant form slammed into the female Aberration, giving Lin Yi and Shen Chuchu an opening to attack her.
• Lin Yi wounded the Aberration with the Soul-Devouring Saw, but she seized Liu Chuan and began dragging him toward her body.
• The Aberration also captured Wang Xufei, and Lin Yi cut him in half to stop her from eating him.
• Wang Meng pinned the Aberration and held her still while Lin Yi sliced her in two and struck her head, killing her and absorbing her energy.
• Liu Chuan called for help because tentacles trapped him and blocked the opening of his Passive Gourd.
