Thrall glared at Rhode again, as though he were looking at an idiot.

Rhode quickly changed the subject. "But I do know something about your people. You're from the Frostwolf Clan, right?"
"An orc did tell me that," Thrall said, looking at Rhode with a slightly more normal expression this time. "But how did you know? ...Did Taretha tell you?"
Taretha must have told Thrall about her last conversation with Rhode, too.
"Don't worry about how I know. Mages know everything." This was where being a mage really came in handy. With such a mysterious profession, he could make whatever grand claims he liked.
Rhode continued, "The important thing is, don't you want to return to your clan? Or do you actually enjoy being Blackmoore's slave and living this bloodthirsty gladiator's life?"
Thrall glanced at the guards in the distance, then looked back at Rhode. "Is this a test? Did Blackmoore send you, esteemed Major General?"
This guy really is suspicious.
"If you don't trust me, surely you trust Taretha?" Rhode thought for a moment. "Hasn't she told you she'll help you escape as soon as she gets the chance?"
That was a guess on Rhode's part.
In the Warcraft history he knew, Taretha had indeed eventually helped Thrall escape Durnholde Keep, but he couldn't be sure she had already discussed it with Thrall at this point.
"Leave Taretha out of this!" Thrall growled.
It was clear that Thrall genuinely cared about Taretha.
But judging by the context of his words, Taretha really was considering how to rescue him.
