Background / History

Arrival and Defeat in the Evil Demon Forest

The Evil Emperor entered the world through a space-time fissure and unexpectedly mastered Light of Time and Space. Before meeting Li Chen, he had surveyed the continent and found its strongest individual to be only Level 93 28.

When Li Chen opened a Nether Portal inside the Evil Demon Forest, the Evil Emperor detected its spatial aura. Li Chen’s scouting symbiote, Greed, died after encountering him. Treating the portal as an intrusion into his territory, the Evil Emperor attacked Li Chen and Wine Fox and intended to follow their deaths with a beast tide against surrounding human towns 27.

Li Chen survived his tentacle strike without injury. During the ensuing battle, the Evil Emperor exposed Wine Fox’s clones, changed into human form to evade Li Chen’s wither tentacles, and eventually used Light of Time and Space. Neither opponent was affected, and Li Chen answered with a world-spanning Time Stop 27 28.

Unable to move, the Evil Emperor endured dismemberment, soul-power dissolution, and wither attacks. He escaped with a spiritual blast and hid in his lair, warning his offspring away from the Nether Portal. Li Chen claimed the ten square kilometers surrounding the Teleportation Stele 28.

The encounter also explained the mysterious pauses the Evil Emperor had experienced over the preceding two years. Recognizing Li Chen’s Time Stop as the same phenomenon, he became terrified of the scale of his opponent’s power 28.

Service to Heaven Beyond Heaven

By Heaven Beyond Heaven’s first meeting, the Evil Emperor had become Li Chen’s subordinate. He was appointed head of the Exploration Department, responsible for investigating dimensions, terrain, and new worlds and returning intelligence 64.

Li Chen assigned him, Dugu Bo, and Bi Ji to establish a Cloudtop Academy branch in the Heavenly Break Mountain Range and summon the Sun Moon Empire’s factions to a Soul Ring allocation conference. At the assembly, the Evil Emperor maintained order by releasing his oppressive aura 65 67.

Conquest of the Peerless Tang Sect World

Li Chen sent the Evil Emperor through the spatial passage with orders to seize the Holy Spirit Cult. Upon arriving in the Ice Sea, he instead first targeted the Sea Princess clan, intending to present its mermaids to Li Chen. He defeated their resistance, knocked them unconscious, and carried them back through the passage; some nearby mermaids were accidentally killed by the shock wave. Wine Fox took custody of the captives 100 101 102.

He then entered the Evil Demon Forest and confronted that world’s Evil Emperor. Using stronger versions of the same mental attacks, he overwhelmed his counterpart, forcibly read its memories, and discovered its connection to the Holy Spirit Cult. He killed and devoured it, reaching Level 100 and obtaining Fear authority 105 106.

The Evil Emperor took control of Zhongli Wu, Ye Xishui, and Long Xiaoyao through mental brands, then secured the worship elders’ obedience with Seeds of Fear. He ordered the cult to install Teleportation Steles throughout the four great empires and Shrek City within one week, threatening a randomly selected death for each day of failure 106 107.

His later operations included arranging weaker Evil Soul Masters as targets for Qian Daoliu and abducting Kong Deming and every member of Virtue Hall by threatening the Sun Moon imperial family. When factions rejected Heaven Beyond Heaven’s ultimatum, Li Chen assigned him to subdue the Star Luo Empire 109 115 118.

Li Chen subsequently praised his handling of the Holy Spirit Cult and Star Luo Empire. Asked to choose a reward, the Evil Emperor requested a world and selected a relatively remote planet from Li Chen’s holdings 120.

Operations on the Dou Qi Continent

The Evil Emperor accompanied Li Chen into the new world and performed errands such as acquiring local currency. He later captured Ling Ying and Xiao Xun’er, read Ling Ying’s memories, and identified their connection to the Ancient Clan. Li Chen rejected his subsequent suggestion to kill Ling Ying 121 124 125 126.

On Li Chen’s orders, he exterminated the Wolf Head Mercenary Group and collected its assets. He also killed a badly injured Hall of Souls protector, looted a cave abode, and gathered Dou Techniques for Li Chen’s study. His assigned missions included capturing the Amethyst Winged Lion King and its cub and confiscating the Mo Family’s property 132 133 136.

After defeating the Amethyst Winged Lion King, he secured its submission by offering an unlimited supply of companion amethyst source. He later delivered the beast and its cub to Li Chen, who placed the adult under Xiao Yan’s command 143.

A projection of the Evil Emperor guarded the Heavenly Tower’s first floor against Xiao Yan, Gu Yuan, Lei Ying, and Yan Jin. He offered them evacuation with their clans if they submitted to Heaven Beyond Heaven. When they refused, he used a previously planted Seed of Fear to incapacitate Xiao Yan and strengthen himself 156 157.

The group initially retreated, then returned with a coordinated attack that restricted his escape. Xiao Yan endured the renewed fear visions while the three clan leaders defeated the projection. The original Evil Emperor was elsewhere, attacking Martial Universe 157.

Martial Universe

The Evil Emperor joined the effort to collect the Ancestral Symbols. After learning that Lin Dong was a special existence comparable to Xiao Yan, he delayed acting immediately and considered cultivating Lin Dong’s fear as a source of further advancement 159 161.

He used a long-range illusion to lure Mu Lingshan out of the Undying Sacred Whale clan without alerting anyone, then captured her. He brought her and the Life and Death Ancestral Talisman to Li Chen and later used an illusion to obtain the Devouring and Thunder Ancestral Symbols from Lin Dong 162.

Appearance

His original body is a gigantic floating eyeball covered in tentacles. In human form, he wears robes; his martial soul reproduces his original body as an enormous phantom 27 105.

The Evil Emperor is territorial and contemptuous toward opponents he considers weak. His initial response to Li Chen’s intrusion includes not only an attempted killing but a planned massacre of nearby human settlements. Against superior power, however, he retreats and reassesses rather than continuing a hopeless fight 27 28.

As Li Chen’s subordinate, he is openly sycophantic and regards following the right ruler as more valuable than cultivating alone. Other ferocious beasts find his flattery embarrassing, but he considers their criticism evidence that they do not know how to win favor. The Ice Empress’s mockery barely troubles him 64 65 100 101.

He treats enemies and captives as resources. This extends from mentally enslaving the Holy Spirit Cult’s leadership to abducting unusual women after learning of Li Chen’s preferences. He also remains competitive with Di Tian, imagining that transcendence will let him surpass the prestige and threat of the Dragon God Claw 101 106.
