Background / History

Miyano Shiho worked as a pharmaceutical researcher at Yaobai Bio-Pharmaceutical and was tightly controlled by The Organization. Kudo Shinichi deduced her profession from signs of laboratory work, while her restricted movement around the company resembled imprisonment rather than ordinary employment 19 35.

Within The Organization, Shiho held the codename Sherry and led the development of APTX4869. Although she permitted Lin Xinyi to take samples for analysis, she was disgusted by the prospect of the drug being used for poisoning and assassination 90 181.

When Lin infiltrated the laboratory disguised as Gin to extract her, Shiho believed Gin intended to execute her. Refusing to be killed by The Organization, she swallowed APTX4869 herself in an attempted suicide 162. The drug's delayed effect instead reduced her body to that of a young child; Lin carried her to Asai Narumi's villa, where Miyano Akemi confirmed that the child was her sister 163.
