Power Progression
The documented advancements below concern Huo Yuhao’s previous-life recollections.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mortal-realm breakthrough; exact realm unspecified | 99 | Her breakthrough depended on Huo Yuhao obtaining a third soul core. The passage connects this dependence to her unstable sense of identity. |
| Second-Level God | 48 | Reached through a method involving transformed female divine officials and the consumption of mortal men’s vital essence and souls. The method required her true body to remain a virgin. |
- Cultivation ceiling: The soul-devouring method could not take her beyond Second-Level God because it violated heaven’s benevolence toward living beings 48.
- Withheld promotion: In the Great God Realm, Tang San could have supplied a First-Level God’s divine seat but deliberately kept her at Second-Level God 142.
- False display of superiority: Her belief that her aura nearly surpassed Rong Nianbing’s was a fantasy, not a genuine advancement 104.
Background / History
Origin
Tang San and Xiao Wu created Tang Wutong as a subject for Tang San’s soul-splitting experiments. Her consciousness was assembled from their divine imprints, with one of Tang San’s imprints forming its core. Huo Yuhao therefore understands her essential nature as a feminized avatar of Tang San, rather than an ordinary divine descendant. Tang San’s soul-splitting method ultimately failed 90.
Huo Yuhao’s previous life
Tang Wutong approached Huo Yuhao under the identities of Wang Dong and Wang Dong'er. The strength she displayed while disguised as a boy deeply impressed him, while her borrowed resemblance to the Goddess of Light exploited his attachment to a deity who had comforted him during childhood. The Tang Family had coerced the Goddess of Light into surrendering the use of her appearance 8 77.
Her relationship with Huo Yuhao became central to his cultivation as the God of Emotion: her image served as both the medium and core of his emotional divine power. Looking back after rebirth, he regards that devotion as a means of ignoring abuses he already knew about 8.
Tang Wutong later lost standing within the Tang Family. Huo Yuhao interprets Tang San’s killing of the similarly named Wutong Heavenly Essence Emperor on Falan Star as a warning that she was no longer needed to secure his loyalty. Her domineering conduct toward Huo Zhanji—outwardly her son, but actually Tang San’s avatar—further violated Tang San’s expectations 160.
A later recalled scene shows her executing the Goddess of Light after Huo Yuhao’s death to conceal the borrowing of the goddess’s face. Huo Zhanji objected, but Tang San’s avatar ultimately allowed the execution. The passage also reveals that the Goddess of Light had carried and delivered both Huo Zhanji and Dai Ying 181.
Appearance
Tang Wutong’s undisguised face and hair color closely resemble Tang San’s, with softer facial contours. Her various assumed appearances are tailored to people important to Huo Yuhao 90.
- Blue hair: Explicitly described during her visit to the Golden Tree 52.
- Trident mark: Located on her forehead; activates a protective spatial curtain 90.
- Goddess of Light disguise: A blue-haired version in Huo Yuhao’s previous life and a blonde version at the Star Luo tournament in the altered timeline 77 82.
- Composite face: During the Mingdu capture attempt, her face incorporates a young Huo Yun'er, Snow Girl, and Ye Guyi in three sections 51.
- Giant butterfly form: Appears with golden light and mesmerizing pink pupils during combat 26.
- Parasitic consciousness: Takes the form of a huge human-faced butterfly with skull-patterned wings; its face combines Huo Yun'er’s and Snow Girl’s appearances 48.
Personality
Tang Wutong considers her birth and divine status grounds for superiority over mortals and other beings. She resents speaking as though others are her equals, looks down on Tang Ya and Ye Guyi, and privately despises Xiao Wu’s origins as a rabbit soul beast 82 89 93.
Her outward helplessness often conceals calculated hostility. While introducing herself as Wang Dong'er, she scrutinizes Huo Yuhao’s expressions and suppresses her desire to command him. Behind the same performance, she plans revenge against Meng Hongchen and the erasure of Xiao Xiao’s artifact intelligence 82.
She is vindictive when denied submission. She deliberately destroys Meng Hongchen’s prospects of learning and cultivation, and later seeks to prevent Huo Yuhao from inheriting Rong Nianbing’s divine seat. Her hostility coexists with an ambition to become the wife of a powerful divine ruler 27 102 103.
Despite relying on Tang San’s authority, she understands the danger of displeasing him. She restrains herself before her grandparents to preserve her place in the family, then secretly seeks the God of Destruction’s protection after concluding that her father may eventually kill her 52 142.
Abilities & Skills
Butterfly God Powers
Her interlocking attacks combine ranged pressure, restricted movement, frontal strikes, and repeated assaults. These powers are described as gifts from the Second-Level Butterfly God 26.
| Skill | Number | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Butterfly God’s Light | Second soul skill 26 | Provides ranged attacks and time to close the distance; also used to strike Meng Hongchen’s head 26 27. |
| Winged Guillotine / Side Wing Guillotine | Included in her second-skill opening 26 | Blocks lateral escape; used to sever Meng Hongchen’s arms 26 27. |
| Butterfly God’s Slash | Third soul skill 26 | Direct frontal assault 26. |
| Butterfly God’s Dance | Fourth soul skill 26 | Turns the slash into repeated rounds of attack and exploits openings created by restraint 26. |
| Butterfly God’s Protection | Fifth soul skill 26 | Manifests a seven-foot female figure surrounded by pink halos within her giant butterfly form 26. |
- Demonstrated counter: The Hongchen siblings’ martial soul fusion skill, Red Dust Attachment, destroys her giant butterfly manifestation 26.
- Different intended numbering: Had she followed the original Wang Dong disguise arrangement, Butterfly God’s Dance would have been her fifth soul skill instead of her fourth 26.
Sea God’s Descent and Protection
Her first soul skill, Sea God’s Descent, summons a trident-bearing manifestation of Tang San accompanied by vast water-element pressure 26.
- The manifestation restrains the Hongchen siblings with devouring Blue Silver Grass, allowing her to attack them 26.
- Her forehead’s trident mark separates her space from Huo Yuhao and the intervening dragon allies during the Star Emperor Hotel confrontation 90.
- She transforms into armor around Tang San during his confrontation with the Silver Dragon Empress 67.
Bewitchment and Impersonation
Bewitchment is a divine skill associated with pink light in her eyes. She also uses borrowed faces and voices to exploit Huo Yuhao’s attachments 28 51.
- Attempts to bewitch Huo Yuhao through memories of Huo Yun'er, but he resists 28.
- Enchants Xu Tianran into accepting Shrek’s exchange-student request 33.
- Uses Qiu'er’s voice to distract Huo Yuhao before ordering an ambush 51.
- Conceals her blood and soul fluctuations while posing as the Goddess of Light 77.
Divine Consciousness and Soul Consumption
Tang Wutong can split off strands of divine consciousness and act through them 48 142.
- Parasitism: A strand inhabits Qiu'er’s Sea of Consciousness and begins devouring her soul core when its seal breaks 48.
- Independent movement: Sends a strand out of prison to retrieve possessions and contact the God of Destruction 142.
- Observation: Examines minute changes in Huo Yuhao’s expressions during conversation 82.
- Mental concealment: Shrek personnel lose their divine shielding against Huo Yuhao’s thought perception after she returns to the Divine Realm 94.
- Limit: The Silver Dragon Empress extracts and annihilates the parasitic strand; this destroys the strand, not Tang Wutong’s main body 48.
Gu and Spiritual Manipulation
She admits to using Heart-Connecting Gu and Attitude Gu with Zhou Weiqing against the Goddess of Life 142.
- Heart-Connecting Gu: Directly controls the victim’s mind and actions 142.
- Attitude Gu: Alters attitudes, emotions, and perceptions, producing prejudice, obsession, or blind trust 142.
- Seed substitution: Replaces Tang San’s Spirit Love Seed in the Lovesick Heartbreak Red with a Spirit Hate Seed 71.

She initially objects to his limited prospects, then campaigns for him to receive Rong Nianbing’s divine seat 71 102 103.- Qiu'er — Target of her parasitic consciousness and planned consumption; explicitly distinct from Tang Wutong 29 48 181.
