Background / History

Long Yue was originally a person from another world who transmigrated after being struck by a Dayun truck. He arrived on the Star Luo Continent in the era of Legend of the Dragon King, without a system. Knowing the original Long Yue’s future as Monster Academy’s foremost Heavenly King and the Mountain Dragon Douluo, he initially wanted an unrestricted life rather than involvement in the era’s major conflicts 2.

The upheaval that displaced Star Luo City convinced him that his expected fate had changed. During the city’s lockdown, he and his friends encountered indigenous people in East City Park; his River soul skill frightened the intruders into fleeing toward the Security Force 5.

By Year 4 of the Divine Realm Calendar, the Divine Realm Empire had developed territory on the Spirit Ice Continent and established an ocean-going fleet. En Ci secured Long Yue a place in its delegation to the Douluo Continent, giving him access to the continent twenty thousand years behind his homeland’s technology 11 14 17.

Appearance

Long Yue has a burly, heavily muscled build and masculine good looks. His martial soul accelerates his physical growth, making his appearance misleading for his age 32 37.

  • Build: Compared to an iron tower or a rugged mountain among the refined surroundings of Moonlight Pavilion 37.
  • Height: Half a head taller than Xue Qinghe during their outing 35.
  • Eyes: Described as dark red; their red glow becomes pronounced during displays of aggression and draconic might 42 47 49.
  • Martial soul possession: Becomes a three-meter-tall muscular giant covered in enormous brown scales, with a thick, powerful tail 10 45.

Personality

Long Yue is outgoing, irreverent, and deliberately provocative. He performs for children, greets political dignitaries with casual familiarity, and repeatedly pressures acquaintances to call him “Brother Long.” His teasing of Qian Renxue is calculated rather than oblivious: he knows her identity and suspects that her supposedly accidental meeting with him has an ulterior motive 19 31 35.

His apparent straightforwardness conceals considerable calculation. He withholds information about his soul bone from Feng Xiaotian, exploits Tong Yu’s backing to command Yue Guan, and uses publicity to protect himself before escalating conflicts. Tang Yuehua’s impression that he lacks guile therefore contrasts sharply with his private plans 24 37 41 118.

He treats alliances—including marriage—as exchanges of value. He openly tells Dugu Bo that Dugu Yan’s family connections interest him and that he needs a team of his own. His pursuit of independence and godhood drives a ruthless campaign against Tang San and people historically associated with him 53 164.

Despite this ruthlessness, he maintains genuine attachments. He treats Tong Yu as a senior brother and promises to restore his reputation, helps Ye Zhi obtain an immortal herb, and honors his promise to protect the Flower Cat tribespeople who assist him 21 59 114 137.

Abilities & Skills

Mountain Dragon King Martial Soul

The martial soul combines an exceptionally durable beast transformation with control over mountains, rivers, and earth veins. Long Yue considers its defining strength closer to a domain-type power than a simple contest of physical force 10.

  • Close combat: Uses his transformed body, fists, and dragon claws as his principal weapons 10.
  • Natural defense: Withstands Feng Xiaotian’s Wind Blade Array and Twelve Consecutive Slashes without releasing his martial soul, then defeats him with one punch 42.
  • Pressure resistance: Endures Dugu Bo’s extended pressure test, including its final increase to level-ninety strength. He acknowledges afterward that further escalation might have overwhelmed him 52.
  • Early limitations: Cannot fly and initially lacks effective attacks against airborne opponents, compensating by reshaping terrain 10 45.

Terrain and Gravity Soul Skills

His soul skills alter the battlefield, restrain opponents, and reinforce his defenses.

  • Mountains and Rivers — first soul skill: Raises stone pillars, blade-like mountains, and stone prisons. It intercepts a spider’s web and traps a flying opponent when he descends within range 9 45.
  • River — second soul skill: Controls large bodies of water, including a hundred-ton surge from an artificial lake. Against the Crystal Bear, he forces water into its lungs and uses high-pressure currents to tear open its flesh 5 10.
    • Rivers carry silt, gravel, and rock fragments that he can manipulate as abrasive ammunition.
    • Fine control rapidly drains his soul power while he is a Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster 10.
  • Marsh: Traps the Tyrant Dragon’s hind legs in combination with Mountains and Rivers 108.
  • Royal Authority — fourth soul skill: Supplied by his orange tiger soul spirit. Crystallizes his scales and strengthens a gravity field enough to force Yu Tianheng and Yu Tianxin to their knees 48.
  • Mountain — fifth soul skill: Produces an earthy-yellow gravitational halo. It forces seawater apart and blocks an attack from the Demon Soul Great White Shark King equivalent to a Soul Sage’s ten-thousand-year soul skill 169.

Draconic Might

His bloodline exerts pressure on other beasts and dragon-type martial souls.

  • Suppresses an Iron-Armed Ape before killing it and frightens nearby soul beasts after his spirit ascension 9 10.
  • Overwhelms ordinary dragon bloodlines during the Heaven Dou exchange match 47.
  • After his bloodline evolution, makes Dugu Bo’s Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor tremble 59.
  • Draws the ten-thousand-year Tyrant Dragon toward him, but does not compel its immediate submission; the beast chooses to fight 108.

Although he calls his martial soul the Mountain Dragon King from the beginning, he explains that a human normally needs Titled Douluo cultivation to wield a measure of a Dragon King’s might. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well advances his bloodline evolution before that stage 59.

Soul Spirits

Long Yue’s soul spirits provide soul rings and can act independently in combat.

  • Mountain Sprite: Evolves to thousand-year quality and can alternate between a cute monkey and a fearsome Ape Monster 10.
  • Orange tiger: Initially appears as a round-headed cat; supplies Royal Authority 46 48.
  • Combat deployment: Sends both spirits against Huyan Li, marking the first official-stage demonstration of soul spirits by the Divine Realm Empire on the Douluo Continent 46.
  • Ring supply: His two thousand-year soul spirits support his five purple rings; a thousand-year spirit can provide three rings 59.
  • Tyrant Dragon candidate: En Ci prepares a ten-thousand-year Tyrant Dragon for his sixth ring. Long Yue later fights it, but its successful submission or absorption is not established in the documented confrontation 96 108.

Ice and Fire Body Tempering

Long Yue uses octagonal mysterious ice grass and infernal delicate apricot to pursue the Ice and Fire Golden Body. The Dragon Kings’ additional bloodline power strengthens the result, while unused medicinal energy remains stored in his body for later cultivation 59.

  • After treatment, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well feels as comfortable as warm water 59.
  • Separately demonstrates resistance to Dugu Yan’s Jade Phosphor Purple Poison, Haider’s drug, and Zi Zhenzhu’s cold poison 49 166 167.

Mountain Dragon Terrorclaw

His thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear right palm external soul bone supplies a lethal claw attack 26 61.

  • Kills the Soul Emperor Niu Ben with one strike 26.
  • Injures the ten-thousand-year Tyrant Dragon during their confrontation 108.
  • Keeps the soul bone secret when Feng Xiaotian asks about his abilities, recognizing the danger of advertising a valuable possession 41.

Forging and Technical Knowledge

Long Yue is a fourth-rank Forging Grandmaster familiar with a more advanced forging system than Lou Gao’s 63 64.

  • Rapidly removes impurities through Hundred Refinement, then completes Thousand Refinement on an ordinary iron lump 64.
  • Explains Spirit Forging, Soul Forging, and Heavenly Refinement to Lou Gao 64.
  • Cannot guarantee first-grade Thousand Refinement in the antiquated smithy; he describes that grade as “half-Spirit Forging,” involving a breath of life in the metal 64.
  • Explains soul spirit evolution, ring configurations, and spiritual-power requirements to Bibi Dong and Spirit Hall’s young talents 67 68.

Political Strategy and Public Opinion

Long Yue applies future knowledge, personal connections, and media access to build influence.

  • Proposes a Cross-Continental Elite Soul Master Tournament as a means of cultural influence rather than military or political conquest 32.
  • Plans to rehabilitate Tong Yu through sympathetic framing and accusations against his victim, explicitly placing effectiveness above truthfulness 21.
  • Uses academy broadcasts and publicity to undermine Tang San while protecting his own reputation before a possible violent confrontation 118.
  • Recruits indigenous scouts through promised positions and protection, then coordinates sabotage inside the King Kong camp 135 137.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Dragon One-Word Battle Armor — Initially documented as yellow-rank, thousand-refined sunken silver armor with heavy ocher plates, angular edges, rock textures, and dragon-scale patterns. Later registered as a complete purple-quality set; its enhancement gives him Soul Sage-equivalent combat power 26 121 122 136.
  • Battle armor storage soul tools — Store the separate components because One-Word Battle Armor cannot integrate directly into the wearer’s body 25.
  • Diamond-Binding Bracelet — A nation-protecting, weapon-devouring artifact sought at En Ci’s urging. Its internal capacity depends on volume; after obtaining it, Long Yue uses its white light to weaken indigenous warriors’ tool martial souls 131 137.
  • Thousand Refinement Sunken Silver hammer — His single forging hammer, used for the demonstration to Lou Gao 64.
  • Storage Soul Tool — Carries equipment, including his hammer, communicator, and yacht 64 90 164.
  • Soul Guidance Communicator — Lets him contact a Monster Academy senior serving as Xinluo City Governor 90.
  • Soul-tool yacht — A nine-meter craft with a streamlined metallic hull and a Demon Soul Great White Shark-shaped bow 164.
  • Golden-haired plate crystal — Takes it from Flender’s shop before killing him 155.

Relationships

  • En Ci — Teacher who raised him, supports his development, prepares a Tyrant Dragon soul spirit, and directs him toward the Diamond-Binding Bracelet. Long Yue considers En Ci the person his actions could genuinely disappoint 96 121 131 164.
  • Tong Yu — Senior fellow disciple and trusted protector. Long Yue promises to clear his name; Tong Yu supports him but repeatedly objects to his cruelty 12 21 26 164.
  • Dugu Yan — Girlfriend and political partner. Their relationship connects him to the Dugu family’s resources; he confirms they are dating upon returning to En Ci 53 96 114.
  • Dugu Bo — Ally and Dugu Yan’s grandfather. Publicly validates Long Yue’s strength, accompanies him toward the Spirit Ice Continent, and becomes involved in his campaign against Tang San’s future supporters 52 59 61.
  • Tang San — Principal intended rival. Long Yue wants to destroy both his future power and his heroic reputation, fearing that Tang San’s godhood would threaten his independence 53 118 164.
  • Su Mu — Friend who pledges support even against Sea God Tang San; his family’s media connections also feature in Long Yue’s publicity plans 21 114.
  • Hua Lantang and Ye Zhi — Childhood friends and allies. Long Yue obtains aromatic silk beauty for Ye Zhi, earning the Seven Treasure Family’s promised support 114.
  • Dai Yueyan — Friend and prince whose crown-prince bid Long Yue supports 2 114.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Rescues her from wolf bandits and agrees to take her to the Divine Realm Empire after Dai Mubai rejects responsibility for her 81.
  • Qian Renxue / Xue Qinghe — Political acquaintance whose disguise he knows. He deliberately teases her and makes her call him “Brother Long” while she investigates his martial soul 35.
  • Sima Lanxiao — Delegation leader frequently exasperated by “Mad Dragon,” but receptive to his tournament proposal and pleased by his recruitment of the Dugu family 32 42 61.
  • Joander — Imperial official who comes to recognize his political capability. Long Yue later impersonates him during the King Kong Tribe infiltration 61 135.
  • Yue Guan — Coerced collaborator in the Defense Clan assault. Long Yue later acknowledges killing him as part of his campaign against Tang San 24 164.
  • Cat One, Cat Two, and Cat Three — Indigenous collaborators whose assistance helps him defeat the King Kong leadership. He keeps his promise to secure their people’s safety 135 137.
  • Bo Saixi — Accepts the imperial Letter of State and formally establishes diplomatic relations with the Divine Realm Empire 179.
