Yu Lin Bloodhawk prepared the Hinterlands and joined the allied expedition against the orcs, while advising Sylvanas about Quel'Thalas’s future and helping the elves manage an unreliable command. Arc 10Sylvanas’s Guerrilla Campaign

Sylvanas and Yu Lin Bloodhawk used poison, mines, bombs, and mounted harassment to wear down the Orc Wolf Riders while avoiding a direct fight. As the Warsong vanguard approached, the Elves continued to encircle the Orcs and target their mounts, leaving the Orc Company Commander and his remaining elites unable to reach bowshot range.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk persuaded Sylvanas to use guerrilla tactics, and the Elves began harassing the Orcs with poisoned arrows, mines, and bombs while helping the human cavalry escape.
  • Lor'themar lured Orc Wolf Riders after his Rangers, using a toll-demanding sign and buried explosives to injure the pursuing force before splitting his troops into smaller groups.

  • The Orcs summoned three Infernals to break through the Elven trap, but the Elves contained them and renewed the encirclement beyond the burning forest.
  • The Orc Company Commander charged toward an Infernal with roughly thirty Wolf Riders, but poisoned arrows brought down their Worgs, and the Elves killed the Warlocks and kept the remaining Orcs out of bowshot range.

Arc 11The Bloodhawk Burning Legion

Sylvanas and Yu Lin Bloodhawk used a battlefield gala to break the orcs, but the wider war exposed the Allied Army’s weakness and drew the Bloodhawk Burning Legion into a political trap. Yu Lin refused to sacrifice its young recruits for his legend, while Alleria insisted Quel'Thalas still needed that legend.

  • The elves defeated Grim’s orcs, and Sylvanas recruited Yu Lin Bloodhawk to devise a harassment plan that became a battlefield gala of songs and stories.
  • While the orcs gathered to watch Yu Lin’s performances, elven infiltrators killed their sleeping leaders, and the elves routed the remaining force when it charged their camp.
  • Sylvanas’s forces captured worgs, spoils, and prisoners, but human commanders dismissed the elves’ victory and sent their own troops against Grommash Hellscream’s vanguard.
  • Grommash’s wolf riders and infernals shattered the human encirclement, while Alleria withdrew with captured worgs and later returned to the front as the war intensified.
  • The orcs broke through the Allied Army’s junction with the gnomes and dwarves, and Prince Kael'thas sent reinforcements as Alleria defended her costly losses to Allied Command.
  • Alleria discovered that Rhea and Lainas commanded the Bloodhawk Burning Legion, a force of 2,400 mostly new recruits, and learned they had been sent there rather than disbanded.
  • Alleria and Sylvanas told Yu Lin that the Bloodhawk Burning Legion’s destruction could discredit him and implicate the Windrunner family, but Yu Lin rejected sacrificing its recruits for his public legend.
  • Alleria stopped Yu Lin from returning to the Hinterlands and insisted that Quel'Thalas needed his legend, then sent Rhea and Lainas away to discuss what they were not ready to know.
