Background / History
First Trade with Su Ye
Mo Yu first appears asking how to use a blueprint without a workbench. With his fuel nearly exhausted, he negotiates to exchange his Simple Double-Shot Hand Crossbow Blueprint for one crossbow, fifty bolts, and ten units of fuel. He hands over the blueprint before receiving the weapons, explaining that establishing a connection with Su Ye matters more than the immediate payment 8 9.
Su Ye delivers the crossbow and bolts after crafting them. Mo Yu promises to give him first notice of valuable chest finds and rare blueprints. He subsequently identifies Ling Yue as their Feather Tribe’s young chief and explains that Ling Yue has gathered roughly a thousand followers in the game 10 11.
Injury and Bandage Blueprint
Two horned monsters ambush Mo Yu in an abandoned warehouse, leaving him with a deep, heavily bleeding thigh wound. He contacts Su Ye for help and offers his Simple Bandage Blueprint free of charge so that Su Ye can manufacture medicine immediately 24 25.
The first ten bandages stop the bleeding and allow the wound to begin scabbing. Su Ye then gives him another hundred bandages and promises free supplies in the future. Mo Yu reciprocates with three pieces of roasted Mutated Bird Meat; Su Ye sends four crossbows, two hundred bolts, and a machete in return 25.
Bandage Resale Partnership
Su Ye selects Mo Yu as his front man because he is tactful, familiar through previous trades, and lacks a powerful team that could protect him if he stole the stock. Mo Yu accepts a ten-percent share of the proceeds, although he considers securing Su Ye’s backing more valuable than the commission 34 35.
After Su Ye publicly announces a material shortage, Mo Yu advertises supposedly limited surplus bandages and lets anxious buyers approach him. The partnership rapidly sells ten thousand bandages before Su Ye orders a halt to preserve stock for the final day of the Beginner Period 35 36.
| Sales milestone | Bandages | Fuel received | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| First batch | 1,000 | 14,000 units | Sold in about ten minutes; Mo Yu receives a 1,400-unit commission 35. |
| Second batch | 1,000 | 17,000 units | Sold in under five minutes as panic intensifies 36. |
| Total before sales halt | 10,000 | Roughly 160,000 units | Includes the earlier batches; Su Ye retains the remaining stock for later sales 36. |
Mo Yu asks Su Ye to hold his commission because his vehicle cannot accommodate so much fuel. Despite his promise to conceal the supplier, Ling Yue correctly identifies him as Su Ye’s reseller 35 37.
Crocodile Hunt and Upgrade Advice
Mo Yu later kills a Mutant Crocodile in a roadside swamp using Su Ye’s hand crossbow. It drops ten pieces of meat, each capable of increasing physique by 0.5. He gives Su Ye three roasted pieces, refusing payment 45.
In exchange, Su Ye shares confidential information about choosing a Vehicle Building at level ten and hiring NPCs. Mo Yu promises secrecy and agrees to prioritize vehicle upgrades and mileage. Su Ye does not tell him about the purge that will follow the Beginner Period 45.
Personality
Mo Yu is enthusiastic and openly deferential toward Su Ye, repeatedly addressing him as “Cousin.” His friendliness is also calculated: he recognizes that access to a powerful player’s resources and protection can be worth more than a single profitable trade 9 10 35.
He adapts readily to opportunistic business tactics. Initially shocked by Su Ye’s artificial-shortage scheme, he quickly embraces it, attracts buyers through public advertising, and later proposes charging fifty units of fuel per bandage—higher than Su Ye’s own expectation. That price remains a plan, not a documented sale 35 36.
