Luckily, I'd brought a card, so we headed straight for a large shopping mall after getting out of the car.
Once the attendant I'd summoned with a phone call produced the Zenin Clan's Black Card, a smiling sales assistant led us into the VIP Room.
To prevent any more socially mortifying incidents like this one, I ordered ten outfits in one go. After changing out of my cumbersome kimono, I had the attendant take the remaining clothes back.
Meanwhile, Satoru Gojo, who couldn't be bothered with the hassle, picked out his clothes without much thought: a simple black shirt and black pants.
Even such a simple outfit looked far more elegant on him.
Though Satoru Gojo was still young, his current features already offered a glimpse of what he would look like in the future.
-I had to admit, good-looking people really did look good in anything.
With our clothes and everything else finally sorted out, we were almost out of time.
We'd taken the Shinkansen at two, and two and a half hours had already passed by the time we reached Tokyo. Then we'd spent another half hour changing our outfits, so it was nearly time for our meeting.
"Satoru Gojo, stop browsing. If you really like it, you'll have plenty of chances in the future... Let's go now."
If we didn't leave soon, Suguru Geto would arrive.
"Does that mean you'll come with me again, Kuang Wu?" Satoru Gojo's eyes lit up. "Where are we going?"
"Of-"
Of course not. We're going to meet the person who'll keep you company in the future, Satoru Gojo.
Unfortunately, I'd barely gotten a word out before a voice interrupted me. "Zenin, what a coincidence!"
I turned around and saw Suguru Geto, his face full of delighted surprise.
What was he doing here?
"Didn't we agree to meet at that Dessert Shop from last time?" I asked curiously.
Suguru Geto smiled shyly. "Actually, I wanted to buy something at the mall."
He raised the gift box in his hand and held it out to me. "Here. It's a thank-you for what happened last time."
That considerate personality of his really was so much better than Satoru Gojo's.
"Thank you." I accepted it and opened it to find a pretty little cake.
"I wanted to find something with less sugar, but I couldn't find any, so I bought this one. It's coffee-flavored and not too sweet. I hope you don't mind," Suguru Geto said.
This time, I was genuinely a little surprised.
He'd only had dessert with me once, yet he'd noticed I didn't like sweet things.
Suguru Geto, you're surprisingly observant.
"I really like it," I said.
With the thank-yous out of the way, it was time to reveal the purpose of this trip.
I smiled at Suguru Geto. "Geto, let me introduce you to a friend. This is Satoru Gojo, here beside me."
I gestured to my side, but Satoru Gojo didn't say a word.
Suguru Geto looked toward Satoru Gojo with a very strange expression.
"Satoru Gojo?" I turned to look.
Only then did I realize that Satoru Gojo was standing there, glaring resentfully at me with his blue eyes. There was also something oddly... wounded about his expression.
Was I seeing things?
Finally noticing that I was looking at him, Satoru Gojo suddenly said accusingly, "Did you come to Tokyo to see him? No wonder you actually invited me out for once today. So it's because you already had someone else to play with!"
Me: ?
Suguru Geto: ?
For a moment, I genuinely had no idea what to say.
-Satoru Gojo, what bizarre ideas have those manga you subscribe to been putting into your head?
Satoru Gojo thought it made perfect sense.
When Kamu Zenin first took the initiative to invite him out, he'd found it unbelievable. Then overwhelming joy had followed. -Just what I'd expect from a good friend of the great Gojo! I'm the first person she thinks of when she goes out!
He hadn't known why she wanted to go to Tokyo, but he hadn't cared!
Going out to have fun with a good friend was the best!
Only now he'd discovered that his good friend's best friend wasn't him?
The moment that weird guy with the small eyes and strange bangs appeared, he'd understood everything.
-She came to Tokyo to see this good friend, and she changed clothes to match this good friend's style...
From beginning to end, he! Satoru Gojo! Had just been tagging along!
This guy with the weird bangs even knew about her strange preference for desserts that weren't sweet!
What did he have that the great Gojo, bearer of the Six Eyes, didn't?
The Six Eyes analyzed the other boy from head to toe, but all he could see was that he'd awakened a Cursed Technique that let him control cursed spirits. It had plenty of potential for growth, but he was nowhere near as powerful as Satoru himself!
Damn it! Kamu Zenin, how could you have such terrible taste!
Satoru Gojo thought furiously.
He didn't even realize how wounded he looked.
