How had things ended up like this?

I looked at the black-haired boy and the white-haired boy in the courtyard and felt utterly forlorn.

The Divine Dogs?

No, the Divine Dogs were wandering around outside the courtyard.

The ones hogging my oversized lounge chair, sprawled in the shade of my barrier and playing video games, were Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto-the two people I had thought could never possibly show up here.

"Yo, Kuang Wu's back!" Satoru Gojo didn't even look up, his eyes glued to the TV screen and his hands working the controls nonstop.

Hearing Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto turned his head to greet me. "Kuang Wu!"

In that brief opening, Satoru Gojo seized his chance and finally killed the character Suguru Geto was controlling.

Then he gloated triumphantly, "Haha, I won! Admit it, Geto, you're not as good at games as I am!"

Faced with the enormous "K.O." on the TV screen, Suguru Geto's expression didn't change. He merely told the girl at the door, "...Satoru brought me here. He said it was fine."

Then he gave a slight smile that said it all.

He was so young, yet I could already see shades of that old fox, my father in name only.

Great. Just wonderful.

Things seemed to be going the way I had envisioned, but something was a little off.

The good news was that Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto really did get along. In less than a month, they were already calling each other "Satoru" and "Geto."

The bad news was that Satoru Gojo still came to pester me as usual, and now he even brought Suguru Geto along.

The last time I had briefly mentioned that Jujutsu Headquarters might be plotting against Suguru Geto, I had meant to encourage Satoru Gojo to be more careful when seeking him out, so Jujutsu Headquarters wouldn't notice. Instead...

Who knew how his brain worked? He had actually started using methods I didn't quite understand to "smuggle" Suguru Geto into my courtyard to play.

His justification was that the shadow barrier I had set up around my courtyard was second to none at concealing their presence and blocking prying eyes.

After all, the first time I had slipped out of the Zenin Clan, I had simply wrapped myself in shadows and walked right out in plain sight.

I said, "...Thanks for the vote of confidence."

But shooting myself in the foot like this really didn't feel great.

I sighed.

I took the snacks out of the cupboard, set them down in front of the boys, and sat down with them.

"Gojo, do you seriously have nothing to do?" I asked. "You too, Geto."

"But I already finished today's work ahead of time-calculus might be university-level stuff, but it's pretty easy!"

I fell silent.

...I had nearly forgotten that mastering this guy's cursed technique required a grounding in mathematical theory. And not just him-the same went for all the jujutsu sorcerers in the Gojo Clan.

*Sorry. I shouldn't have asked that question :)*

So I turned to Suguru Geto.

Suguru Geto had clearly been stunned by Satoru Gojo's answer, but he quickly composed himself. "Unlike you people in the Zenin Clan, I have to go to school. But it's Sunday today, so I have the day off."

I had nearly forgotten that Suguru Geto attended an ordinary elementary school.

Satoru Gojo and I didn't have to.

Just thinking about it made my temper flare. The Zenin Clan actually kept me shut up at home, teaching me nothing but knowledge of Jujutsu Society. They considered everything else unimportant!

At least the Gojo Clan had Satoru Gojo study mathematics, even if his cursed technique left them no choice. All I learned was basic cultural knowledge and the fundamentals of jujutsu.

If I hadn't had memories of my previous life, I probably would have ended up genuinely illiterate...

Without even a diploma.
