Background / History

Megumi and his stepsister, Tsumiki, grew up depending on one another. Tsumiki was the stepdaughter of his father, Toji Fushiguro. During her third year of middle school, Kenjaku selected her for his plans, and she fell into a coma before eventually becoming a Culling Game player 37.

Tsumiki’s suffering convinced Megumi that even kind people could fall victim to injustice. Saving her became his principal reason for entering the Culling Game and a central source of his determination to live 37.

Appearance

• Black hair: Described as a black-haired boy during the American military attack 36.
• Youthful appearance: Sukuna later possesses his young body and retains his face during the battle against Gojo 39.

Personality

Megumi maintains a calm exterior under pressure. Against Reggie Star, he conceals his domain’s limitations and quietly positions his Divine Dogs for an opening. He is also wary of unfamiliar sorcerers, initially keeping the dogs ready when Xia Xia intervenes 33.

His attachment to Tsumiki makes him vulnerable to denial. Concern for her causes insomnia, and he refuses to accept evidence that she has been replaced by Yorozu until the incarnated sorcerer displays power his sister could not possess 31 37 38.

Although irritated by Xia Xia’s teasing, Megumi tolerates him after learning that he is Yuji’s older brother. He also becomes embarrassed when Xia Xia discusses Hana’s efforts to protect him, choosing to pretend he is asleep rather than join the conversation 35 37.

Ten Shadows Technique

Megumi’s inherited innate cursed technique summons shadow-based shikigami. Manifesting and maintaining them consumes his cursed energy and stamina 31 34 33.

• Xia Xia copies one of Megumi’s dogs through Contract Re-Creation and retains a separate version named Bruce. Megumi still has his original dog immediately after the copying experiment 35.

Domain Expansion: Chimera Shadow Garden

Megumi’s incomplete domain spreads shadows across the battlefield and amplifies the Ten Shadows Technique 31 33.

• No sure-hit or sure-kill effect: Reggie’s Hollow Wicker Basket does not stop the shikigami attacks because there is no sure-hit effect to neutralize 33.
• No complete enclosing barrier: The domain cannot independently trap an opponent. Megumi draws Reggie into a gymnasium before expanding it 33.
• Attacks from overhead shadows: He summons Max Elephant above Reggie, using its domain-enhanced weight of approximately three to six tons to crush him 33.
• Weight burden: Objects sinking into the domain’s shadows still impose their weight on Megumi. Reggie exploits this by dropping cars into them 33.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Culling Game and Reggie Star

Megumi enters the Culling Game to save Tsumiki. His team’s plan pairs him with Yuji to seek out Hiromi Higuruma, obtain one hundred points, and change the rules 32.

In a gymnasium inside Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Megumi fights Reggie using Chimera Shadow Garden. Max Elephant crushes Reggie while summoned cars threaten to overwhelm Megumi through the domain’s weight burden. Xia Xia intervenes before Reggie’s summoned house can crush him, kills Reggie, and heals Megumi 33.

Joining Xia Xia’s Group

After briefly taking and pampering one of Megumi’s Divine Dogs, Xia Xia returns it. Megumi then travels with Xia Xia and Hana to reunite with Yuji at the hotel 34.

At the hotel, Megumi agrees to a written exchange granting Xia Xia temporary use of the dog for a bottle of beer. Xia Xia uses the transaction to create a duplicate through Contract Re-Creation, ultimately acquiring his own limited Ten Shadows Technique 35.

American Military Assault

A dying sniper shoots Megumi during the attack on the group’s hotel. Hana and Yuji evacuate him after he loses consciousness. He later awakens but pretends to remain asleep during Xia Xia’s conversation with Hana 36 37.

Tsumiki’s Identity and Sukuna’s Possession

The group adds finding Tsumiki to its preparations against Kenjaku. At her hospital room, Xia Xia restrains Megumi and coordinates an attack with Hana’s Jacob’s Ladder. Yorozu evades the attack, displays her own technique, and reveals her identity, destroying Megumi’s hope that the person before him is still his sister 37 38.

Sukuna subsequently exploits Megumi’s mental collapse to possess him. During the December 24 battle, Sukuna uses Megumi’s body and Ten Shadows Technique against Gojo, but lacks both a finger stolen by Xia Xia and one Divine Dog. Gojo defeats the weakened Sukuna; Megumi’s subsequent condition is not established 39.
