Background / History

Transmigration and the first kills

Before transmigration, Xia Xia was an orphan who had worked at a parcel depot and spent years arguing online about fictional combat. His arrival in the new world immediately ends in a fatal fall; he resurrects in a pure-white subspace and begins learning how his abilities work 1 3 4 28.

Izumino’s Invisible Hand repeatedly kills him until he discovers that a character’s first death can satisfy a reward condition. Xia Xia secures his first kill by feigning helplessness, biting through Izumino’s throat, and cutting his carotid artery with scrap metal. He then uses repeated deaths to study the Snake-Fish Cursed Spirit, discovers that its teleportation requires darkness, and kills it in a burning, illuminated shopping center 2 3 4.

The Amabuki swordsmith’s life

After Kashimo’s lightning kills him through collateral damage, Xia Xia enters a historical simulation set more than four hundred years earlier. As Amabuki Xia Xia, he grows up an orphan in a swordsmith village: his father dies challenging Kashimo, his mother dies after childbirth, and the distant relative raising him also dies 5 7.

The ronin Isshin spares Xia Xia, moves into his hut, and demands a sword in exchange for instruction. Their initial hostility develops into companionship despite Xia Xia’s continuing assassination attempts. When Isshin dies challenging Kashimo, Xia Xia fulfills his promise to forge a Demon Blade from Isshin’s corpse and broken weapon. He spends years developing his techniques before confronting Kashimo himself 8 9 11 12.

The Itadori twin’s life

Xia Xia next enters a simulation as Yuji Itadori’s elder twin, born on March 20, 2003. He experiences a loving childhood with Yuji, Jin, Wasuke, and Kenjaku inhabiting Kaori’s body. His awakened technique reveals that Yuji has been prepared as Sukuna’s vessel, prompting him to gather the knowledge needed to kill Kenjaku 19 20 21 22.

On his ninth birthday, Xia Xia kills Kenjaku while embracing Kaori. Jin and Wasuke accept his decision and subsequently die by his knife; Yuji returns home to find the bodies. Years later, Xia Xia attacks Jujutsu High for Yuji’s sake, having gained extraordinary cursed energy at the expense of his body, and accepts his brother’s demand for a death match 25 27.

Brotherhood and intervention in the Culling Game

The simulation’s rewards leave Xia Xia with family memories, maternal love, and Special Grade combat strength. He reconnects with Yuji and Choso, claims an Itadori family connection, and joins them in an oath of brotherhood. He removes and destroys one of Sukuna’s fingers, then proposes capturing Kenjaku inside a modified Kaori body that would prevent cursed energy use 28 29 30 31.

Xia Xia spends 100 points to allow unrestricted point transfers, removing the need to kill merely to keep a score from stagnating. He subsequently recruits Megumi and Hana, fights invading American troops, and helps expose Yorozu inside Tsumiki Fushiguro 32 34 35 37.

Rejection of the future gaze

After a mutually fatal simulated battle with Yorozu, Xia Xia discovers that Yuji’s Domain Expansion from sixty-eight years in the future has been influencing him through Akashic Records. He rejects the imposed affection, sacrifices his acquired emotions, and fuses his two techniques. With his original disposition restored, he tests the resulting powers by killing Choso and Yuji in a simulation, then kills himself before Sukuna can take control 39 40 41.

Ashiya Doman and the Fujiwara alliance

In the Ashiya simulation, Xia Xia overcomes initially negligible cursed energy by turning other young sorcerers into cursed spirits and absorbing them. He supports his younger cousin Ashiya Xia Cheng, later known as Natsunari, but severs their brotherly relationship after a dispute. He exterminates the Ashiya clan before leaving for Kyoto, while sparing the town below its mountain estate 43 44 45 46 47.

Five years later, he is State Preceptor Ashiya Doman. Yorozu enters his residence bearing Fujiwara authorization and declares her love for him; he attacks and binds her before questioning her purpose. When the Fujiwara clan seeks his aid against Sukuna, Xia Xia sees through its sacrificial festival scheme and agrees only to provide backup, refusing to lead the attack or save the designated sacrifices 47 48 49.

• Main-world Xia Xia: Has black eyes and wears glasses 17 18.
• Amabuki Xia Xia: Initially has shoulder-length hair, which Isshin cuts short instead of beheading him 8.

Personality

Xia Xia is resilient, vindictive, and intensely competitive. He accepts transmigration within seconds and treats repeated deaths as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to retreat. His willingness to pursue mutual destruction is practical: with resurrection available, killing the opponent matters more to him than surviving the attempt 1 3 4.

He enjoys taunting enemies and prioritizes power, combat, and personal autonomy over attachment. Repeated exposure to violent death does not make him painless or fearless in a literal sense—being burned alive leaves him overwhelmed by phantom pain—but it does not stop him from immediately beginning another simulation 3 5 13 40.

His simulated lives expose genuine attachment, including grief for Isshin and love for the Itadori family. However, after discovering that future Yuji has forcibly altered his emotions, Xia Xia chooses to erase the acquired feelings rather than accept a benevolent identity imposed on him 9 28 40.

Following the fusion, he regards Yuji as an ordinary game character rather than a beloved brother or hated enemy. He rationalizes violence by excluding curse users, sorcerers, cursed spirits, and simulated ordinary people from the category of people he considers himself to have murdered 42.

A causality-manipulating technique that lets Xia Xia claim power associated with paths he can experience in simulations 1.

• Cause-and-Effect Reversal: Inserts a virtual Xia Xia into history and extracts results from that life. Unlike reality simulation, each attempt grants only one life 5.
