Everyone could not help looking shocked at his words.
Everyone, of course, except Yuanfang.
Had their attention not been fixed on Suguru Geto, they would surely have noticed that the smile on Yuanfang's lips was identical to his.
Both looked like villains whose wicked schemes had succeeded.
At this moment of intense tension.
The blonde girl who had come with Suguru Geto and was playing on her phone suddenly shouted:
"Lord Geto, the shop's about to close!"
"Is it that late already?"
Suguru Geto sounded a little helpless, but rather than getting angry, he teased her.
Then he turned to Satoru Gojo and said apologetically:
"Sorry, Satoru. They've been pestering me to take them for crepes on Takeshita Street, so I won't keep you any longer!"
With that, he looked at Yuta Okkotsu, waiting for his answer.
Yuta Okkotsu understood what he meant and gave his answer without the slightest hesitation:
"Sorry, I still don't really understand what you're saying, but I don't want to hurt ordinary people, so I won't help you!"
"Ah, I see. Well then, Satoru, goodbye!"
Suguru Geto sighed, said goodbye to Satoru Gojo, and prepared to turn and leave.
He had expected this outcome all along, so he did not mind.
Satoru Gojo, however, did not intend to let Suguru Geto leave just like that and prepared to attack him.
Unfortunately, Suguru Geto had made thorough preparations before coming. By using shikigami and the students as leverage, he successfully left.
With the crisis over, everyone began to leave. Only Satoru Gojo, who was gazing at the sky, lost in thought, and Yuanfang's group remained.
"Who was that man you were talking about?"
Panda could no longer contain his curiosity. He wanted to know just who could make Suguru Geto change his attitude.
Maki, Yuta Okkotsu, and Toge Inumaki felt the same way and gathered around to hear who this man was.
Maki was especially curious. It felt as though thousands of ants were crawling around in her heart, and she could hardly wait to learn what heights that man had reached-and whether she could reach them too.
Before Yuanfang could speak, Satoru Gojo began telling them the story.
"His name was Toji Fushiguro. He was born into the Zenin Clan, one of the Three Great Families of Jujutsu Society. Because of his heavenly restriction, he was like an orphan abandoned by God, without a trace of cursed energy. His family discriminated against him, so he left the Zenin Clan and married into the Fushiguro Family.
"In my fight with him back then, I almost died at his hands. If I hadn't awakened Reverse Cursed Technique at the very end, Satoru Gojo wouldn't be here today!"
At this point, a trace of lingering fear surfaced in Satoru Gojo's eyes. He could not help remembering that battle, inwardly thankful for his survival.
When Maki and the other three heard that this man had nearly killed Satoru Gojo, shock surged through them like a raging tidal wave.
How could someone without cursed energy accomplish something like that?
Yuanfang seemed to see through their confusion and picked up where Satoru Gojo had left off:
"Because of his heavenly binding vow, he was born without cursed energy despite coming from a family of jujutsu sorcerers. In return, he received an incomparably powerful body and extraordinary athletic ability, along with vastly enhanced senses."
"Did he have absolutely no cursed energy?"
Once Yuanfang had finished, Maki asked a question.
"That's right. Absolutely none!"
At Yuanfang's answer, the confusion on Maki's face deepened, like a thick fog that refused to clear!
Her cursed energy was merely low, which was worlds apart from having none at all.
Their conditions were not exactly the same. How could she possibly reach that level?
Panda and the other two felt the same way. They thought Yuanfang had simply been talking nonsense earlier because he did not want Suguru Geto to humiliate Maki.
Even Satoru Gojo was puzzled.
He knew his student Maki very well. Aside from having somewhat weaker cursed energy and a somewhat stronger body than others, there was nothing else unusual about her.
"It's not that I have no cursed energy. Mine is just weak. There's a fundamental difference between the two, so I'm afraid I won't be able to reach his level!"
Maki began analyzing the situation, thinking Yuanfang had exaggerated her potential simply because he could not stand hearing Suguru Geto speak about her that way.
Rather than answering Maki right away, Yuanfang turned to Satoru Gojo and asked:
"Gojo-sensei, what do twins mean to Jujutsu Society?"
"In jujutsu families, the birth of twins is considered an ill omen.
"They consider it an ill omen because twins only weaken the jujutsu sorcerers themselves.
"To put it simply, what was originally a single share of cursed energy is divided into two while they're still embryos.
"If every child born into a jujutsu family starts with roughly the same total amount of cursed energy, twins naturally become weaker than others when theirs is split in half!
"Of course, having their cursed energy divided in half isn't really a problem in itself. After all, training later in life can still make up for a lack of talent.
"Unfortunately, even after twins become separate individuals, an unseen connection remains between them.
"That means Mai and Maki actually share the same pool of cursed energy.
"In Jujutsu Society, they're treated as a single person. Since they use the same pool of cursed energy, they can only grow stronger gradually if they both work at it."
Satoru Gojo was knowledgeable and well-informed. He understood these matters well enough to explain them without having to think.
"That can't be the only reason, can it?"
After hearing Satoru Gojo's explanation, Maki felt that things were not so simple.
She knew very well that her younger sister did not work hard enough, and that even if she gave it everything she had, she would struggle to grow stronger. Still, she had never abandoned her pursuit of greater strength.
Even if her sister changed her attitude, fought alongside her, and grew stronger with her, she could never reach the level Satoru Gojo had described-a level that had nearly gotten him killed.
Everyone except Yuta Okkotsu understood this as well. They nodded in agreement with Maki and could not help turning their eyes toward Yuanfang again.
This time, Yuanfang did not remain silent and began explaining the reason.
"Maki, you were actually born with a heavenly binding vow. Its existence shut the door on the possibility of the two of you growing stronger together.
"Normally, sacrificing your innate cursed energy would give you a body as powerful as Toji Fushiguro's. But because Mai exists, your heavenly binding vow isn't 'pure' enough.
"That's why you can't even see cursed spirits, and Mai's cursed energy is severely restricted too."
"Yuanfang, as your teacher, I'm really curious. How exactly did you determine that Maki has a heavenly binding vow?"
Hearing Yuanfang say that Maki had a heavenly restriction, Satoru Gojo looked utterly puzzled. How had he known?
Even he, with his Six Eyes, had been unable to detect it!
