All those chains had been shackles Xi Yan had placed on himself.
In truth, after Xi Yan had declared all the Empire's people liberated, announced that everyone could enjoy a happy life, and proclaimed that humanity's glory would be etched into the history of the universe, the people had ceased to fear death. They were willing to give their lives for their shared ideals.
