Background / History

Tang Hao was a celebrated Clear Sky Sect genius and the younger brother of Tang Xiao. His relationship with Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor in human form, brought him into conflict with Spirit Hall after her identity was discovered during their travels 174 175.

According to his account, Qian Xunji and two Titled Douluos pursued their family around the time of Tang San’s birth. Ah Yin sacrificed herself to give Tang Hao his ninth soul ring. He detonated that ring, severely injured their pursuers, and escaped with his son; news of Qian Xunji’s death followed later. Although Tang Hao subsequently boasts that he killed the pope, his fuller account describes the pope surviving the initial battle 130 174.

The crisis also cost Tang Hao his standing within the sect. He recalls that his father, the previous sect master, died from anger over his actions. Tang Hao exiled himself, wandered with Tang San, and eventually settled in Holy Soul Village while hiding from Spirit Hall 174 326.

Appearance

Tang Hao has shoulder-length hair and originally wears a beard. Initiation into the Sunflower Manual changes his voice and causes handfuls of his beard to fall out 101 130.

  • Changed voice and gestures: His voice becomes feminine, and he involuntarily adopts an orchid-finger hand pose 101 181.
  • Cloak: Wears a cloak when returning to Slaughter City 181.
  • Final condition: Appears drenched in blood and emanates an aura of death when Tang San finds him at the ruined Sea God Hall 470.

Personality

Tang Hao is proud of his title, martial soul, and lineage. He invokes the Clear Sky Sect’s authority even while regarded as an outcast, dismisses weaker soul masters as unworthy teammates, and repeatedly assumes that overwhelming strength will settle disputes 92 165 289 298.

His desire for revenge frequently overrides caution. During Spirit Hall’s ambush, he chooses to continue fighting instead of extracting Tang San, then tries to describe his son’s ordeal as a trial. When he discovers Ah Yin missing, his uncontrolled release of soul power injures Tang San and collapses the cave around them 156 291.

He expresses genuine guilt over Ah Yin’s first sacrifice, but later pressures her to sacrifice herself again for Tang San’s advancement. He justifies this through the sect’s survival and the promise that godhood will allow her resurrection. His willingness to demand another person’s sacrifice contrasts with his resistance when the High Priest inheritance places his own life at stake 279 296 331 354.

Tang Hao also conceals ambition beneath deference. He outwardly protests taking Tang Xiao’s position while privately celebrating his brother’s displacement. Despite these ambitions, repeated defeats and failed plans leave him despondent; he identifies Tang San’s prospective godhood as his remaining reason to continue 305 308 326.

Abilities & Skills

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao’s pitch-black tool martial soul emphasizes weight and crushing power 101 155.

  • Clear Sky True Body: His seventh soul skill enlarges the hammerhead to the size of a water vat. He uses it both offensively and as a shield 92 298.
  • Defensive applications: Blocks the Heaven Dou treasury’s arrows and protects Tang San from the palace defenders’ attacks 290.
  • Weight-dependent power: The Weight-Absorbing Gun reduces the hammer to one-tenth of its weight, sharply weakening its attacks and disrupting Tang Hao’s balance 155.

Clear Sky Sect Secret Arts

Tang Hao possesses several of the sect’s powerful combat techniques, though Tang Chen’s demonstrations reveal gaps in his understanding 304.

  • Ring Detonation: Converts shattered soul rings into a surge of power. Older rings produce stronger detonations; extreme use can cause devastating bodily damage 92 420 462.
  • Clear Sky Nine Absolutes — Break: Uses the hammer’s crushing force to attack through Dugu Bo’s poisonous mist and confront Xiong Jun 289 298.
  • Clear Sky Body Protection: His strongest stated defense, previously used to withstand a Titled Douluo’s attack before reaching that rank himself. It fails to prevent severe injury against Tang Chen 183.
  • Sky-Piercing Strike: Hurls the hammer after detonating his ninth ring, creating an opening to flee Xiong Jun 299.

Sunflower Manual

The jar-obtained manual requires self-castration for initiation. It grants Tang Hao new combat methods and heightened perception, alongside unwanted physical changes 98 101 152.

  • Seventy-Two-Route Evil-Repelling Hammer Technique: Produces rapid, wide-area hammer attacks that seal escape routes; sword qi can shoot from the Clear Sky Hammer 101 153.
  • Silver-needle attacks: Conceals damaging force within a needle. One strike gravely damages Demon Bear Douluo’s heart meridians, though Demon Bear subsequently survives 153 155.
  • Silver Needles Acupoint-Pressing Method: Inserts needles into seven points on his own body to release latent potential for a short time 462.
  • Enhanced perception: Detects the hidden Spirit Hall ambushers outside Spirit City 152.

Divine Slaughter’s Domain and Sonic Attack

  • Divine Slaughter’s Domain: Used alongside Clear Sky True Body and Ring Detonation against Sword Douluo. Tang Chen identifies its Asura power as a possible obstacle to Tang Hao receiving the Sea God’s inheritance 92 221.
  • Sonic mental attack: Helps break through the King of Slaughter’s confusion and restore Tang Chen’s recognition of his grandson 183.

High Priest Powers

Tang Hao inherits Bo Saixi’s power, memories, and authority over Sea God Island’s Sacred Pillar Guardians 331.

  • Commands the guardians to search for prospective trial candidates, initially requiring at least rank-nine innate soul power 344.
  • Seeks refuge in Sea God Hall and receives protection from the Sea God’s Light while fleeing Tang Chen 462.
  • The office carries a fatal obligation: the High Priest must sacrifice their life for the final stage of the Sea God’s ninth trial 331.

Divine Artisan

Tang Hao is one of the Blacksmith Association’s Three Divine Artisans. He offers his expertise for Tang San’s manufacturing plans and expects his influence in Gengxin City to secure rare metals, but finds the association’s treasury emptied 253 256.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sunflower Manual — Obtained from jars; later gives Tang San the book inside a box, expressing hope that his son will never need it 98 110.
  • Silver needles and red thread — Used for concealed attacks and the manual’s acupoint-pressing technique 155 462.
  • Mutated Strawberries — Healing items acquired through jars; used to treat worsening injuries while fighting Tang Chen 98 462.
  • Lucky Poker — Uses a card to obtain the Blue Silver Emperor, allowing Ah Yin to awaken as a spiritual figure 295.
  • Drifting Jar — Found in the Sea God Temple; provides a connection to the Little Shop’s jars in Spirit City 397.
  • Enhancers and enhancement scrolls — Used to increase soul-ring ages. His documented attempts include a +10 Gold Enhancement Scroll with a thirty-percent success rate 420 435 462.
  • Golden scepter with a blue gem — Wields it like a spear against Tang Chen’s divine hammer; it shatters during the collision 461.
  • Six soul bones — Remain after his death. Tang San selects those he needs for the Sea God inheritance 470.

Relationships

  • Ah Yin / Blue Silver Emperor — Wife and Tang San’s mother. Her first sacrifice saves the family; Tang Hao later pressures her into a second sacrifice, after which she rejects him and their promised reunion 174 296.
  • Tang Xiao — Elder brother and predecessor as sect master. Their emotional reunion ends in hostility over Ah Yin’s second sacrifice and Tang Hao’s takeover 173 175 296 308.
  • Tang Chen — Grandfather and initial patron. Tang Hao restores his identity and gains his support, but later defeats the weakened Tang Chen and becomes the target of his revenge 183 305 344 462.
  • Bo Saixi — Predecessor as High Priest. Helps him complete his trials and transfers her office, leaving him furious when he learns its sacrificial obligation 331 332.
  • Lin Xiao — Jar-shop owner whom Tang Hao tells Tang San to treat with reverence. Tang Hao is later devastated to learn that Ah Yin calls Lin Xiao her Master 152 295.
  • Dai Mubai — Ally whom Tang Hao intends to install as a puppet emperor, turning the Star Luo Empire into a power base for the Clear Sky Sect 279.
  • Seventh Elder — Persistent critic who blames him for the sect’s disasters. Tang Hao kills him on Tang Chen’s orders after the failed Star Luo expedition 173 313.
  • Qian Daoliu — Enemy associated with the sect’s destruction. Tang Hao also blames him for killing the Blue Silver King after recognizing the Blue Silver Overlord Spear 183 321.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Tang San’s teacher. Tang Hao takes him away after Ah Yin’s second sacrifice because he knows too much; Yu Xiaogang later seeks to expose the father and son 296 416.
  • Xiao Wu — Tang San’s companion whom Tang Hao attempts to claim despite the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s opposition 92.
