Du Busi is twenty or thirty years older than Xuan Zi. Before his rejuvenation, his remaining lifespan is a major concern: he seeks a successor capable of preserving and strengthening the Body Sect after his death 378 403.

His hostility toward Shrek Academy is tied to avenging his older brother. Upon sensing Mu En’s death, he addresses his brother’s spirit and declares that it can finally rest in peace. He later openly states that he wants to kill Xuan Zi and destroy Shrek for that revenge 382 408.

Du Busi was also one of the instigators of an earlier soul beast uprising in the Star Dou Great Forest. The Scarlet King remembers him with particular hatred, and soul beasts subsequently single out Body Sect disciples for hostile treatment 420.

Appearance

Du Busi’s appearance changes substantially after he masters Qin Xiao’s cultivation method 396 455.

Personality

Du Busi is domineering, confrontational, and openly contemptuous of opponents he considers beneath him. He refuses to justify the Virtue Hall raid to Jing Hongchen and readily threatens violence when others obstruct him. He also enjoys testing himself against strong enemies, becoming excited rather than intimidated when Dai Mubai appears 399 510 521.

His arrogance gives way to unusual patience when the Body Sect’s future is involved. After recognizing Qin Xiao’s talent, he tolerates repeated rebuffs, offers resources, and tries increasingly accommodating ways to win his loyalty. This behavior surprises Vina, who is accustomed to treating him as an imposing authority 401 403 417.

Despite his recklessness, he understands practical limits. He captures rather than kills the Three-Eyed Suanni to avoid provoking catastrophic retaliation, and later delays entering the Star Dou Great Forest after sensing a dangerous expert nearby 419 422.

As a sect leader, he encourages defeated disciples to improve rather than despair. He acknowledges that the elders have spoiled Long Aotian and asks Qin Xiao to forgive the younger man’s impulsiveness 425 426.

Pursuit of Xuan Zi and Mu En’s Death

Du Busi enters the mountains alone to confront Xuan Zi after his massacres in the Heaven Dou Empire. He subsequently challenges Shrek Academy with evidence of those crimes and the Emperor’s Writ, attacking when the academy’s representatives attempt to withdraw 378 380.

He defeats several Shrek experts, but Mu En temporarily merges with Xuan Zi to produce a level-99 opponent and an upgraded Taotie martial soul. Du Busi flees when an opening appears. The destructive power Qin Xiao secretly embedded in his attack forces Mu En to sacrifice his remaining strength and redirect it into the Golden Ancient Tree 381 382.

Virtue Hall Raid and Qin Xiao’s Recruitment

Du Busi plans a large-scale operation to retrieve Qin Xiao and seize the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast Embryo. The raid succeeds, with Jing Hongchen forced to defend the academy while the Body Sect escapes 389 396 399.

Initially intending the embryo for Vina, Du Busi changes course after Qin Xiao warns that only an ultimate ice martial soul can safely absorb it. Recognizing Qin Xiao’s exceptional potential, he brings him to the sect despite Qin Xiao’s objections. He eventually transfers the embryo in exchange for Qin Xiao’s agreement to guide the sect’s elite disciples 402 403 409 425.

Training and Rejuvenation

Du Busi takes Qin Xiao and Vina into the Star Dou Great Forest, captures the Three-Eyed Suanni, and holds off the Scarlet King while Qin Xiao absorbs the auspicious beast’s power of fate. Vina’s subsequent insight into Unity of Heaven and Man strengthens his belief that Qin Xiao can transform the sect’s future 418 419 420 422.

He later masters the Divine Elephant Suppressing Prison Force himself. Instead of merely securing a successor before death, he gains renewed youth and an extended lifespan 443 455.

Clear Sky Sect Conflict

While secretly observing the war, Du Busi follows Tai Tan and attacks him. He pursues him for two days, defeats Yan Shaozhe’s attempt to intervene, and then battles Niu Tian 501 509 510 512.

His newly developed strength overwhelms both Clear Sky Sect masters and subsequently defeats Dai Mubai’s avatar. After killing Niu Tian and Tai Tan, he follows Qin Xiao’s plan to delay destroying the avatar, buying Qin Xiao time to regain strength. The two later attack the Duke’s Mansion Estate in Star Luo City 513 514 526 528.

Defense of the Body Sect

Several years later, the Body Sect and Holy Spirit Cult cooperate against the advancing Sun Moon Empire. Dai Mubai, now present in his true body, drives Du Busi and Electrolux back despite their combined resistance. Qin Xiao returns, destroys Dai Mubai’s body, and saves both defenders 532.
