Star Luo upbringing and escape

Zhu Zhuqing is the Nether Grand Duke’s neglected second daughter and Zhu Zhuyun’s younger sister. Her family’s longstanding marriage ties with the Star Luo imperial family bind her fate to her fiancé, Dai Mubai. She spends more than a decade in the Star Luo Imperial City under family oppression and the threat of death 30 135 189.

After Dai Mubai flees his domineering elder brother, she finds his whereabouts and travels to Suotuo City, hoping they can resist their fate together. Instead, she discovers that he has immersed himself in pleasure and abandoned responsibility for her. Her hope turns into hatred and a determination to become strong enough to defeat him 30.

Training under Qin Xiao

Following the Star Dou Great Forest expedition, Zhu Zhuqing privately approaches Qin Xiao for help. She specifically requests lightning body tempering, recognizing that its pain is worth the improvement to her potential and cultivation speed. Qin Xiao agrees and subjects her to increasingly powerful lightning 28 30.

Her routine combines Zhao Wuji’s training with afternoon Thunder Tempering. After reaching level thirty, she accompanies Qin Xiao to Sunset Forest, where she obtains her third Soul Ring. Her rapid improvement astonishes Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun, who had regarded her talent as the weakest among Shrek’s students 72 73.

Slaughter City and the broken engagement

Zhu Zhuqing enters Slaughter City with Qin Xiao and Meng Yiran. Her phantomlike movement earns her the name Nether Phantom, but her survival is not entirely unaided: Qin Xiao secretly intervenes five times during the month-long trial. By her return, she has taken at least a thousand lives and gained the Divine Slaughter’s Domain 91 92 93 95 97.

At Blue Tyrant Academy, she challenges level-thirty-nine Dai Mubai despite being only level thirty-five. Her precise claw attacks break his protection, and her domain weakens him before Netherworld Slash inflicts a deep chest wound and permanently castrates him. Rather than killing him, she chooses to leave him alive in suffering 96 97.

When Dai Mubai refuses to annul their engagement, she severs his right thumb and uses its bloody print to authenticate the document. The academy’s leaders decline to punish her, treating the confrontation as a private dispute. Freed from the engagement, she returns to Qin Xiao, thanks him, and openly expresses her romantic feelings 97.

Dai Mubai’s ambush

Dai Mubai later hires the Heaven-Shaking Soul Hunting Squad to capture her during a Soul Ring expedition. With Zhao Wuji occupied by two thirty-thousand-year Qian Jun Ants, Zhu Zhuqing and Meng Yiran face two axe-wielding Soul Kings. She kills one with a throwing knife, and the women defeat the other together 120 121.

Her attempt to finish Dai Mubai is interrupted by the squad’s Soul Saint leader. Pursued by him and the Soul Emperor tracker Shadow, she is eventually cornered. Rather than accept capture, she attempts suicide, but the leader restrains her with vines before she can act 122 123.

Qin Xiao rescues her at the critical moment and kills her powerful enemies; Dai Mubai also dies. Zhu Zhuqing subsequently kills the squad’s mustached leader after Qin Xiao refuses to spare him 125 135.

Confrontation with her father

The Nether Grand Duke confronts Zhu Zhuqing over Dai Mubai’s death. After hearing about the ambush and seeing the annulment, he admits that he blamed her wrongly. Nevertheless, he demands that she return to Star Luo to answer to the emperor and applies Soul Douluo pressure when she refuses 135.

Zhu Zhuqing condemns the Nether Clan’s willingness to sacrifice its daughters for the Dai imperial family. Qin Xiao intervenes, identifies her as his partner and a member of the Qin Family, and refuses to let her father take her away. Despite her disappointment in the duke, she remains concerned that Qin Xiao might kill him 135.

Qin Xiao’s presumed death

After Dugu Bo reports that Qin Xiao has died fighting Yu Yuanzhen and Star Luo forces, Zhu Zhuqing joins Liu Erlong and Meng Yiran in vowing revenge. They bury his clothes and personal keepsakes at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 149.

Qin Xiao has actually survived. During his absence, Dugu Bo is badly injured defending Zhu Zhuqing and Meng Yiran from Snake Lance Douluo, whose attempt to retrieve them on Qian Renxue’s orders becomes a mistaken confrontation 154 156.

Sea God Island and the Star Luo throne

Zhu Zhuqing travels with Qin Xiao’s group to Sea God Island. Sea Horse Douluo notices her and Meng Yiran’s talent and reconsiders turning the visitors away. The group agrees to undertake the Sea God’s trials 165 166.

Qin Xiao had previously suggested making Zhu Zhuqing empress if the Star Luo imperial family continued opposing him. He fulfills that proposal after the Nether Grand Duke kills the Star Luo Emperor and Dai Weisi. Qin Xiao refuses the throne himself and appoints Zhu Zhuqing, relying on the Nether Clan’s established territory, influence, and popular loyalty to support the transition 137 189.

She initially protests that she cannot rule and worries that the position will separate her from Qin Xiao. He assures her otherwise and entrusts immediate administration to her father. The duke later holds the title of Supreme Emperor of Star Luo 189 229.

Soul Master Tournament and divine ascension

Despite her imperial position, Zhu Zhuqing joins the Shrek tournament team. She and Meng Yiran lead its decisive victory over the Heaven Dou Royal Second Team, and Shrek continues through the qualifiers to the grand finals 199 201 203.

Before the final, remnants of the Star Luo Empire and several Soul Master families attack the Shrek women, targeting Zhu Zhuqing. Zhao Wuji kills the attackers, but the injured team members are left recovering at Spirit Hall. Qin Xiao elects to compete alone rather than postpone the match 204.

At the God-Sealing Ceremony in Thunder Emperor City, Qin Xiao grants her the God of Desire Godhood. Its energy drives her through successive cultivation breakthroughs, produces three custom soul rings, and culminates in a tenth ring and full divine ascension 268.

Later-era portrayal

The later Peerless Tang Sect-era passages depict Zhu Zhuqing as Dai Mubai’s wife in the Divine Realm—a relationship history that differs from her annulled engagement and Qin Xiao partnership in the earlier storyline 97 135 516 517.

When Tang San asks Dai Mubai to investigate the Douluo Continent, she feels uneasy. She requests help for her clansmen but advises limiting that help rather than interfering with imperial succession, fearing Tang San’s displeasure 516 517.

Appearance

Zhu Zhuqing is described as a baby-faced beauty with an icy demeanor and a voluptuous figure. Her clothing is black in the forest-hunting passages 28 30 120.

Zhu Zhuqing is initially reserved and distant, particularly compared with Ning Rongrong. Beneath that cold exterior, she is intensely determined: she willingly endures agonizing lightning training to escape helplessness and take control of her fate 28 30 65.

Slaughter City makes her exceptionally calm about violence. She shows little emotion while maiming Dai Mubai, yet remains modest about her refined combat techniques, considering them a natural result of surviving repeated life-or-death battles 96 97.

Her affection for Qin Xiao is much more openly expressed. She trusts his guidance, worries that her affairs burden him, and values remaining beside him even after being offered an imperial throne. Her loyalty also extends to Meng Yiran: she refuses to escape alone when they are ambushed 109 121 137 189.
