Background / History
Tang San is a transmigrator with a mature mind, but he still longs for familial affection. His father, Tang Hao, becomes the principal anchor for those feelings. His mother is Ah Yin, whose sacrifice precedes Tang Hao’s disappearance from the wider Soul Master world 72 79.
He grows up with Tang Yue, Tang Hao’s adopted daughter, who shares neither his father nor his mother. While Tang Yue performs most household chores from ages two to four, Tang San occasionally helps but spends long periods training. He is six when she accompanies him to awaken their martial souls 1.
Tang Hao’s absence leaves Tang San unaware of much of his family’s history. He only discovers that his father is a Titled Douluo during the confrontation with Guang Ling, and later learns from Tang Yuehua that he carries Clear Sky Sect blood 77 108.
Personality
Tang San is fiercely protective of Xiao Wu. He initially regards her troublesome behavior as innocent and repeatedly resolves the problems she causes. Although he thinks of both Xiao Wu and Tang Yue as younger sisters, Ning Rongrong’s criticism makes him recognize how much Xiao Wu’s lively presence has dominated his attention 6 45.
His loyalty can lead him to excuse serious wrongdoing. After a crossbow bolt kills an innocent waiter, he feels guilty but rationalizes the death by deciding that someone associated with Xiao Wu’s mistreatment cannot have been a good person. Much later, he admits internally that he suspected Xiao Wu’s involvement in Tang Yue’s disappearance, yet continues defending her 8 160.
His guilt over Tang Yue initially causes sleeplessness, loss of appetite, and disrupted cultivation. That remorse gradually turns into hostility after Qian Renyue injures his teacher and fights his father. He eventually decides to treat her as an enemy despite recognizing his own earlier failure toward her 72 78 108.
He is perceptive without always pressing for answers. When Xiao Wu behaves strangely around Xin’er, he notices that she is withholding information but avoids intruding into her private affairs. He also recognizes when Qian Renyue’s powerful supporters make direct confrontation untenable 144 160.
