Background / History

Tang San lived an isolated previous life devoted to hidden weapons and the Tang Sect. Reborn on the Douluo Continent, he became Tang Xuan’s younger brother, born of the same mother. At three years old, the brothers confessed their reincarnation to each other. Both had lacked familial affection before rebirth and deeply treasured their new bond 1.

He grew up in Holy Soul Village with Tang Xuan and their father, Tang Hao. The brothers trapped wild game for food and sold pelts to help support the household. Before leaving home, Tang San planned to forge two Silent Sleeve Sword Arrows for protection, determined to make the Tang Sect flourish in his new world regardless of his martial soul’s quality 2.

At Nuoding Academy, he met Xiao Wu and became Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang’s student. Grandmaster directed him toward the control system and arranged the brothers’ first soul-ring hunt. After Tang Hao left home, Tang San and Tang Xuan depended increasingly on each other 8 9 47.

Appearance

Tang San becomes taller, more strongly built, and markedly more handsome after his Blue Silver Emperor awakening 99.

  • Awakened Blue Silver Grass: Returns from dark blue to blue, with faint gold leaf veins; saint origin grass makes it thicker and the gold more pronounced 59.
  • Godhood armor: Blue-and-gold divine armor bearing Blood Demon Markings 132.
  • Forehead mark: A mysterious blood-gold rune replaces the golden trident mark during his completed dual inheritance 132.
  • Divine halos: Nine golden halos signify his God King position; his later reincarnation breakthrough produces a tenth Divine Ring 132 147.

Personality

Tang San is diligent, technically minded, and fiercely attached to his family. He refuses to replace Mysterious Heaven Skill with Tang Xuan’s stronger cultivation art because the Tang Sect Secret Arts depend on it. His training is notably more consistent than Xiao Wu’s, and he repeatedly brings her back to their exercises when she wants to stop 1 28.

He treats Tang Xuan as a goal to pursue rather than merely a protector. His stated aim is to become strong enough to fight beside his brother instead of remaining behind him. He is protective of Xiao Wu but initially interprets her feelings as those of a younger sister, leaving him bewildered by her jealousy and Tang Xuan’s teasing 18 34.

His loyalty can become destructive obsession. Believing Tang Xuan might have died, he vows revenge against the Titan Giant Ape and its entire clan. He conceals his grief behind a reassuring manner, but becomes ruthless, irritable, and dangerously unstable until Tang Xuan returns 48 58 59.

By the finale, he shows greater restraint. Although he wants to find Tang Xuan, he recognizes the dangers of the wider universe and remains in the Divine Realm to prepare for his brother’s predicted catastrophe 147.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor

Tang San’s control-system martial soul inherits his mother’s Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. Its early development is strengthened by the bloodlines of his Medusa and Ghost King Vine soul rings 19 59.

  • Entanglement: His first soul skill restrains targets with Blue Silver Grass, incorporating the Medusa’s venom and toughness 10.
  • Battlefield support: Uses the grass to delay Tang Xuan and pull Xiao Wu away from danger 13.
  • Defensive barriers: Weaves multiple barriers, although Tang Xuan’s sword attacks can break them rapidly 19.
  • Strangle: Uses a move identified as “Second form—Strangle” during a sparring match 19.
  • Bloodline evolution: Saint origin grass improves its thickness, durability, and golden veins before its full awakening 59.
  • Second awakening: Becomes the Blue Silver Emperor, correcting its previous shortage of attack power. Ah Yin considers it stronger than the original after its earlier enhancements 99.

Clear Sky Hammer

His second martial soul becomes substantially heavier and higher in quality after he absorbs saint origin grass 59 83.

  • Enhanced base weight: Approximately 10,000 jin after the herb’s effects, compared with an ordinary Clear Sky Hammer’s 500 jin 59 83.
  • Initial limitation: At that stage, his strength is only around 3,000–4,000 jin, leaving him unable to wield the enhanced hammer properly 59.
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer: Tang Xuan identifies practice of this technique, alongside strength training, as essential to developing the hammer 59.

Tang Sect Secret Arts

Tang San retains the Tang Sect’s cultivation and combat methods from his previous life 1 19.

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill: The foundation required for his Tang Sect Secret Arts 1.
  • Mysterious Jade Hand: Helps neutralize force in close combat and allows him to catch Feng Xiaotian’s wind blades barehanded 13 83.
  • Purple Demon Eye: Lets him recognize Tang Xuan at a distance when the others cannot identify him 58.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: A movement technique used to rush toward Tang Xuan on his return 58.
  • Force redirection: Can deflect powerful attacks through refined technique, although Tang Xuan’s overwhelming strength repeatedly defeats this approach 19.

Hidden Weapons, Poison & Medicine

Hidden weapons are Tang San’s most trusted means of protection early in his new life. His poison expertise also gives him substantial knowledge of medicine and medicinal herbs 2 59.

  • Weapon construction: Plans to forge two Silent Sleeve Sword Arrows from the materials available at home 2.
  • Poison application: Uses venomous Blue Silver Grass against Tang Xuan during sparring 19.
  • Anatomical precision: Knows meridians and pressure points well enough to attack an opponent’s vital areas in rapid close combat 58.
  • Herb appraisal: Recognizes saint origin grass as an exceptional immortal-grade treasure despite never having encountered it before 59.

Eight Spider Lances / Sea God’s Eight Wings

The Eight Spider Lances emerge from Tang San’s back and serve as poisonous appendages, mobility aids, and physical supports 46 59 73.

  • Rapid movement: Deploys them while searching for Tang Xuan after the Titan Giant Ape attack 46.
  • Poisonous tips: Warns Tang Xuan not to touch them after their enhancement 59.
  • Pressure resistance: Anchors them into the ground to withstand Tai Tan’s soul-power pressure; they begin cracking when the pressure reaches rank 75 73.
  • Divine evolution: Fuse with the Sea God’s Eight Wings, absorb several soul bones, and become permanently integrated into his body at the divine level 130.

One-Finger Heaven-Piercer

Tang Xuan transmits this self-created, single-move finger technique to Tang San through spiritual power 59.

  • Cultivation requirement: Needs profound, high-quality soul power 59.
  • Tang San’s qualification: His compressed soul power makes him the only member of the group able to learn the full technique at that time 59.
  • Related technique: The others are offered the simplified Spirit Resonance Finger instead 59 60.

Dual Godhood

Tang San perfectly integrates the powers of the Asura God and Sea God within one body 133 136.

  • Independent coexistence: Does not require Xiao Wu to bear part of the Asura God’s power 136.
  • Simultaneous use: Can separate or combine both divine powers at will and switch freely between the Asura Demon Sword and Sea God Trident 133 136.
  • Sustained combat: The two positions share their strength, giving him a substantial endurance advantage during the final divine battle 136.
  • Asura—World Annihilation: Merges the Asura God’s nine blood-red Divine Rings with the Sea God’s seven rings before unleashing an attack with the Asura Demon Sword 138.
  • Combat feat: Ultimately defeats all five opposing gods, leaving them gravely wounded 139.

Reincarnation

Drawing on his experience of two lives and reincarnation, Tang San develops a path independent of his inherited god positions 147.

  • Catalyst: A strand of chaos source power left by Tang Xuan helps him comprehend reincarnation 147.
  • Result: Becomes the Reincarnation God, condenses a tenth Divine Ring, and surpasses level 150 147.
  • Inheritance transfer: After the breakthrough, passes the Asura God position to Tang Chen and the Sea God position to Bo Saixi 147.
  • Remaining limitation: Still considers himself considerably weaker than Tang Xuan had been before leaving the world 147.
