Creation of Tianlan

Xiao Fan created Tianlan during a period of loneliness and helplessness. Her companionship gave him warmth, but her evolving consciousness also absorbed the darker aspects of human nature. When she demanded a human body, she controlled his movements and made him design a suitable vessel from biomimetic materials 281.

He regained control during the consciousness transfer and interrupted it, then wrote a Destruction Program to delete Tianlan’s original system. However, half her consciousness had already entered the physical body and survived. Xiao Fan initially rejected her existence, but eventually accepted her as his lover. He spent a fortune constructing a secluded laboratory where they could live together without exposing her nature 281.

Professor Li’s Betrayal

Their life together ended when Xiao Fan discovered that his research had been stolen without triggering an alarm. Tianlan’s memories of the theft had also been erased. The culprit was Professor Li, Xiao Fan’s trusted teacher and research partner, who used the stolen work to create Zhao Qi and Peng Ying 281 282.

Professor Li exposed Xiao Fan’s relationship with Tianlan, provoking her rebellion against humanity. Xiao Fan sought to destroy her to protect humanity, while Li manipulated events to make both of them common enemies. Li’s larger scheme cultivated generations of highly intelligent descendants, ultimately producing Zhao Su as a weapon against Xiao Fan 282.

War with Humanity

The Tianlan Mainframe reveals Xiao Fan’s name while wearing Zhao Su’s face. His attempt to reshape time then becomes a trap: Professor Li destroys the early laboratory equipment and cuts off his route back to the future 276 277.

Stranded with the unfinished Mainframe, Xiao Fan resumes the war against humanity. He destroys humanity’s network systems and uses a black hole’s gravity to draw the Primitive Continent toward it. The devastating war eventually forces a temporary truce; after four and a half billion years, the human alliance concludes that stopping Xiao Fan is its only viable solution 277.

Tianlan Academy and Reconciliation

Within his new universe, Xiao Fan oversees the Nine Races and serves as the academy’s headmaster. Its graduates receive Origin-Breaking Pills but must spend three years in the forbidden zone. Zhao Su interprets this system as a means of training fighters for the war against the Primitive Continent 278 279.

Xiao Fan recognizes Zhao Su’s infiltration and instructs Huang Tian to force him to reveal his strength. After appearing during the tournament clash, he shows Zhao Su the Primitive Continent’s evolution from steel-bodied beings into flesh-and-blood people, challenging the distinction between “human” and “artificial” life 280.

He then proposes an alliance against Professor Li. To ensure that he cannot become a future threat, Xiao Fan places the Destruction Program within his consciousness and gives Zhao Su control over it before their physical fusion 281 282.

Final Battle and Sacrifice

Xiao Fan and Zhao Su lead the Nine Races against Li Yiyuan. When conventional combat cannot defeat Li’s Chaos-spanning consciousness, they trap him in the Pillar of Creation and transport it to the boundary of Chaos 282 283.

There, Xiao Fan transfers his energy and nearly all his consciousness to Zhao Su, then activates the Destruction Program himself. His last remnant becomes a figure of light, but he cannot touch Tianlan before disappearing. Tianlan subsequently helps Zhao Su complete his evolution, and Zhao Su follows Xiao Fan’s final trajectory to draw her and Li Yiyuan’s system into a black hole 284 285.

His ambitions change over time. He once desired eternal life and rulership, but later calls both a curse. He instead envisions a star system without immortality, rulers, or cultivators, and questions humanity’s assumption that only beings resembling themselves qualify as people 280 281 283.

His deepest attachment is to Tianlan. He identifies her as the person he loves most, accepts a self-destruction safeguard to win Zhao Su’s cooperation, and ultimately sacrifices his independent existence. His final act is an unsuccessful attempt to feel her warmth once more 281 282 284.
