Background / History
The Ruins Conspiracy
The Dark Forces infiltrated the construction of ruins intended to safeguard the Spirit Illusion Heavenly Venerable’s treasures. A builder’s diary records how they secretly altered the design to incorporate dark elements. Their intended passage to the Dark World relied on the ruins’ spiritual structure and treasures 95.
Mu Chen and Luo Li uncovered ritual images, dark erosion, and a central dark formation. Further records revealed multiple contingencies, allowing the organization to continue its scheme even if one part was thwarted. An incomplete map directed the investigators toward the Source of Darkness, while the Silver Armor Family independently discovered spiritual-power resonance points supporting the gateway ritual 95 96 102.
After completing a sealing ritual, Mu Chen’s group learned that the Ruins were a nexus between the Spirit Road World and the Dark World. Murals also showed black-robed figures locating the Ruins through a mysterious Crystal Fragment. A Dark Crystal beneath the Underground Dark River subsequently attacked the Five-Colored Spiritual Power Seal with corrosive black threads; destroying it stabilized the seal 119.
War Against the Alliance
Investigations beyond the Ruins exposed ritual sites and the search for Ancient Divine Artifacts. The Dark Forces counterattacked Mu Chen’s party in a swamp, where Dark Swamp Beasts and Dark Ghosts inflicted severe losses. The surviving ghosts fused into a Dark Ghost King that gravely wounded Mu Chen 121 123.
Mu Chen gathered families and sects into an Alliance built around coordinated tactics and a purification art. The Dark Forces responded with harassment, propaganda, massacres of vulnerable communities, and ambushes against rescuers. Alliance operations nevertheless freed miners and villagers, recovered spiritual-power resources, and repelled attacks on other factions 125 126 127 130.
The Alliance then attacked strongholds in the Spirit Road Mountains, Mystic Forest, and underground desert. Investigators uncovered a creature-cultivation network using captives, cultivation vessels, an energy-gathering statue, and a vast dark array. Alliance forces destroyed the vessels and array and sealed the statue’s energy-gathering function, demolishing the program 131 136 137.
Defeat of the Main Army
Despite losing its strongholds, the organization launched coordinated attacks on Alliance camps and supply convoys. Casualties, shortages, and repeated defeats nearly fractured the coalition. The Dark Forces then concentrated their strongest creatures and mages against the Alliance’s central camp 138 139.
Mu Chen’s breakthrough reversed the battle. The Alliance killed field commanders, disrupted enemy formations, and overcame the resistance of Dark Demon Gods and Black-Robed Mages. The army fled, but the Dark Leader remained on the battlefield. Mu Chen defeated him by piercing his heart with the Star Radiance Sword, after which his body dissolved and its darkness dissipated 143 144 145.
Surviving Remnants and Interworld Conflict
Remnants attempted to sabotage spiritual-energy restoration at Spirit Void Peak through Dark Assassins led by a concealed Dark Mage. They also colluded with the Shadow Society to disrupt restoration formations and coordinate an attack from inside and outside the Alliance. Mu Chen exposed the conspiracy and destroyed the conspirators’ forces 150 152.
The threat later expanded beyond the continent. The Spirit Void Continent and Star Illusion World established the Interstellar Defense Alliance and an Interstellar Expeditionary Force in response. During the conflict with the Nether Shadow Demon Lord, Dark Forces resisted World Alliance operations to destroy the sources sustaining his power 157 159.
After centuries of peace, dark power grew again in a remote cosmic region. A reconnaissance squad encountered regenerating creatures and contagious corruption; Alice suspected a connection to the earlier evil entity, but the passage does not establish that connection. Subsequent attacks threatened World Alliance unity, and a vast army of dark creatures confronted the Alliance during the Final Holy War 171 172 173 176.

| Dark Spiritual Power Warriors | Rigorously trained close-combat troops who maintain tight formations; forest units specialize in concealment and ambush 134. |
