Background

Childhood in Konoha

Naruto was born during the Nine-Tails attack on Konoha, which resulted in the deaths of his parents, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. The Nine-Tails was sealed within him, making him Konoha's new Jinchūriki 36 365.

Kenichi Amamiya secretly collected a strand of Naruto's hair and a drop of his blood shortly after his birth for genetic research, motivated in part by Naruto's connection to Asura's reincarnation 38.

By the time he was not yet three years old, Naruto could climb Hokage Rock by himself and trained there at dawn 193. He grew up without knowledge of his parents and received only a small living allowance, leaving him unable to afford food on some days 273 365.

Konoha's villagers treated Naruto as a “demon fox,” isolating and insulting him because of the Nine-Tails sealed inside him. He nevertheless came to believe that becoming Hokage might earn him their recognition 154 364.

Kenichi Amamiya's Disciple

Kenichi first taught Naruto a Chakra-refinement method after recognizing that the Nine-Tails' seal was disrupting his Chakra control 274. Naruto later succeeded in producing Chakra, despite having no clan instruction or formal Academy training at the time 350.

After witnessing Naruto's hunger, isolation, and continued mistreatment, Kenichi offered him food, instruction, protection, and a place by his side. Naruto accepted Kenichi as his teacher and left Konoha with him 364.

During their journey by airship, Kenichi told Naruto that Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki were his parents, explained the nature of a Jinchūriki, and identified Obito as the person responsible for their deaths 365.
