[Hehehe, I won't say which of the top three Upper Ranks got singled out.]

[Hehehe, I won't say which of the top three Upper Ranks didn't get singled out, either.]

[When everyone else gets singled out, the one who doesn't should really take a good look at himself.]

[Doma: You can keep quiet all you like, but why do you keep looking at me~?]

[Holy shit, a miracle drug! Tamayo! You! Are! My! God!]

[Tamayo always manages to whip up these drugs that make no sense but are ridiculously powerful...]

[If Tamayo had brought this drug out, would the Germans have stood a chance at the 1910 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine?]

[I say Tamayo is the MVP of the whole series. Who's with me, and who disagrees?!]

Haruto looked away from the scrolling comments and turned to Tamayo.

"Want to try it?" Tamayo chuckled. "Before that, though, you need to establish an anchor for yourself."

"An anchor?"

"You know what a ship's anchor is, right? When a ship stops, fishermen throw an iron anchor into the water to keep it from drifting away. The anchor grips the seabed firmly, holding the ship in place.

"To keep your consciousness from drifting through fragments of memory after taking the drug, you need to create an anchor in your mind that tethers your awareness, reminding you that you're in a memory, not reality."

Tamayo kept her explanation brief. "Just choose a familiar image and imprint it firmly in your mind."

Haruto nodded, pulled out the stopper, and downed the vial of medicine.

Before long, he slumped silently over the table, fast asleep. At Tamayo's direction, Yushiro and Genya tucked him into a thin blanket so he could sleep more comfortably.

"Come along, Genya. Now it's time for us to talk."

Genya
