Background / History

Final Selection and the Hand Demon

Sabito trained under Sakonji Urokodaki alongside Giyu Tomioka and Makomo. During Final Selection on Mount Fujikasane, he repeatedly rushed toward demons and endangered candidates. He entrusted the unconscious Giyu to Murata before continuing through the mountain, earning gratitude from numerous survivors 4 6.

In Haruto’s first experience of the selection, Sabito attempted to rescue him just before the Hand Demon killed him. After returning to an earlier point in time, Haruto sought Sabito out rather than accept the possibility that his rescuer would die in his place 2 3 4.

Sabito confronted the Hand Demon while exhausted from prolonged fighting. Enraged by its admission that it had eaten Urokodaki’s students, he attacked with Flowing Dance, but his strained Nichirin Blade snapped against its head. Haruto intercepted the demon’s killing blow, then drew its attention while Sabito concealed himself. Sabito beheaded it with Striking Tide, despite wielding a broken sword 4 5.

Afterward, Giyu joined Sabito and Haruto in hunting the remaining demons. All three passed the selection and met Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Life on Mount Sagiri

Between missions, Sabito helped care for Haruto’s injuries. Battle with Lower Rank Four Nekomata

A routine patrol on Mount Kumotori brought Sabito and Giyu into conflict with Nekomata, Lower Rank Four. Realizing that the demon was trying to leave, they resolved to prevent its escape. Sabito signaled a coordinated attack, taking the visible role while Giyu prepared a concealed finishing strike 50.

Sabito’s Drop Ripple Thrust nearly reached Nekomata’s neck, but the demon twisted away. Its claws tore open his chest, and its heavy tails struck him hard enough to cave it in.
